Crowns - SCD

Hey! I'm back :)
The theme at SCD this week is Crowns...still in the twinchie format too.
I love that saying that goes something like
"Cats were once worshipped as Gods, cats have never forgotten this!"

I stippled the background with Spiced Marmalade and a bit of Shabby Shutters stamped the Inkadinkadoo cat and wording in Versafine and the heart type motif around the edges with Walnut Stain.......dragged Adirondack dimensional acrylic straight from the bottle to form the crown and stuck seed beads and a gem into it while still wet.....highlighted the cat with some hand drawn lines using copic markers.
I've had a great bank holiday with my friend and her DH.....shared some fun on Eurovision night....so O.K. Iceland did not win but I still love the song....in fact my friends choice scored more points than mine....mmmm maybe I ought to ask her opinion next year instead of the other way round LOL! Went to a fab wine bar in Modbury on Sunday....lovely food...great company....had a smooch round Totnes on Monday......shame I had to go to work Tues but needs must!!
Thanks for looking and happy stamping.
xoxo Sioux
P.S. In my weird world of late you have all been such a comfort and have lifted my spirits more than you will ever know.....just to say THANK YOU! And yes I make no apologies for shouting that!! :)

Paris for SCD - GD? That is me!

Well what can I say.........I joined in the very first Something Completely Different Challenge with this twinchie here and now guess what? I'm the Guest Designer this week for the month of twinchies to celebrate the challenges birthday.....could not be more thrilled to be asked :)

Thanks everyone for a year of fabulous inspiration!

The twinchie theme this week is PARIS........aah Paris sigh.....never been but dream about it often! This twinchie tries to embody the dreams I have...wanted to fit so much on...do you think it's too much? LOL...I couldn't believe I managed to fit so much on myself (although I suppose it does depend on the size of the stamps you use). I have a hankering to re-create this in a larger format to hang on my wall......watch this space!

As an added bonus for one week and one week only.....I'm including a little step by step photo tutorial on how I managed it....hope you don't get too fed up!

Started by stamping the circular frame stamp twice on scrap paper to use as masks cutting one to leave the inner circle and the outer frame and the other around the outline only.

Then masked off the circle bit where the face was to go.

Stippled the background with DI wild honey.

Over stamped with frayed burlap using some foam packaging as my stamp! A crackle type stamp would be equaly as good.

Remove the mask.

Stamped the round mirror frame where the mask had been in versamark.

Applied the cut out mask and stamped the phrenology head (again in versamark) within the cut out circle.

Removed the mask.

Applied the solid mask.

Stamped the Eiffel tower in Cats Eye celedon to give a subtle image.

Then added the word Paris in rusty hinge.

Remove the mask.

Applied rock candy crackle to the face and when dry rubbed on some frayed burlap to accent the cracks and give a bit of shadow to the frame.

You will have to dream the last little step for the heart as I forgot completely to take pictures!!!

Cut a heart shape to fit and stamped and embossed with gold the fancy scroll design.....rubbed fired brick over to colour which dulled the gold a bit but I gave it a quick shot of heat again and it brought it back to life! I should have rubbed the ink on first then embossed but I didn't think LOL.

Some words computer generated (My and is) Love hand stamped and the little tag used rub on letraset 'cos my rubber letters were all too big! The phrase is taken from an all time favourite song of mine as sung by Frank Sinatra "I love Paris"......sooooooooo romantic sigh!

Thanks for looking and hope you have fun and join in with the Paris theme..........happy stamping!

xoxo Sioux

Stamps : Mirror frame/phrenology head my own made from a computer font

Eiffel tower/Paris word Royal & Langnickel

Fancy scroll Anna Griffin (won in JoZart blog candy...fab....thanks again)

Doodle X

Bit of a tricky one for me.......I ended up doing a doodle on a twinchie whilst sitting in hospital looking at an unresponsive DH!

The blue cross is the signal flag used to represent X and the dash dot dot dash border on all four squares is the Morse code for X

.....the doodles within the squares are pretty much self explanatory I hope!

My DH is still in hospital (that will be 3 weeks this Saturday!) but the good news is he has been awake and responsive the past 3 days in a row :) Thanks for all your kind wishes and sorry I can't get round to everyone to leave an individual thank you......I have barely time to get through my day what with the visiting and work and housework and trying to cut the grass and have a meal ...erm that would be a slice of toast some days........and......and......and!!!

Thanks for looking at my feeble effort this week!

xoxo Sioux
P.S. Hope you put your X against a name today.....people died to give us the right!

"B" for SCD

This week has not been great for crafting...worrying about DH going to see consultant again....only just getting him to said appointment....he's gone a bit weak at the knees!.....now worrying about results of more blood tests taken 'cos if they contact us within a few days that's not good news either! Life can be a big worry if you let it get to you....I do try my best not to let it!
Only just in time then for the B theme at SCD!

If I was being ultra critical.....and I usually am of myself LOL....I'd do this again as the cranberry Adirondack letters sort of migrated from the outline....but on closer look I'm not that concerned as I notice the outline now looks sort of spiky and as bees have been known to sting perhaps it was serendipity intervening!......that's my theory....and I'm making it fit!!! HOL
Thanks for looking
Happy stamping
Hope not to be...ha ha groan...so late next week.

Love is all around - TT

That's the theme over at Tuesday Taggers this week.....the birds are singing beautifully in our back garden at the moment.....spring is starting to spring all around.....here is my Twinchie.
I've left this fairly neutral so that I can use it on a card to say thanks or as a birthday motif to a friend etc.

I stippled DI's Tea Dye and Fired Brick on the background and added a small damask motif (my own) in Tattered Rose the xoxo is stamped in Impress chocolate......tattered the edges and inked with DI Walnut Stain........the Crafty Individuals stamp was stamped in DI Walnut Stain onto a textured card.....I like how the texture gives it a shabby look......tattered the edges and inked with Fired Brick.
..................the Craft Emporium is sponsoring the challenge this week with a surprise paper pack from CHA...oooh! I wonder what that could be :)

Thanks for looking.

Live as if..........

I think this may be my last Hallowe'en piece for a while.......had to do one last twinchie for the challenge over at Theme Thursday using your favourite colours!

Two of my favourite colours are Spiced Marmalade and Scattered Straw distress inks both used on this twinchie.

I cut a positive and a negative mask to sponge the DI SS and DC onto the textured card and stamped the T!m clock in SM over the SS........stamped the Paperartsy wrought iron in Adirondack wild plum and the corner decal and wording (my own stamp) in black archival.

Over the past few challenges I seem to have inadvertently built up a little collection of Hallowe'en pieces and this twinchie fits nicely with the rest that I am going to make into a wall hanging......

at least that is the intention! LOL

Watch this space.....

Thanks for looking

Something Completely Different - #3

Something Completely Different has, for me, turned into something pretty much the same.........I have got a genuine reason though........honest!.........I am going to combine all three twinchies I have made into one larger piece so they have to have some sort of cohesion....don't they? LOL

The birdies were a free image from The Vintage Moth.....SSBFL...printed off and coloured with pencils......same stamped background used and the wording stamped with my little letter stamps.....I was really pleased to find this image as I thought the birds looked as if they were wearing masks......so they fitted in with the word disguise........it will all be crystal clear when you see the finished piece!!! LOL

Friends Twinchie

It's the second week at Something Completely Different and we are still to make twinchies but the theme this week is a colour combo to use Pink and Green.
I realised that my twinchie last week also fitted this so decided to use the same background paper I had stamped with the idea I might make these into a picture or a card or something!!.......

however.....after I took the photo it looks like I have used gold as well!!.........Hey ho.......what is done is done.....

Something Completely Different

Alas................Monty Pythons Flying Circus is not returning to our screens :(..................no this is something much better :)..........a bit of twist on this new challenge site Something Completely Different..........The idea of "Something Completely Different" is to have a different challenge per month and a different theme each week - so that we can all have a go at something completely different to our nomal artwork........the DT team is Carol and Dawn who were part of "Tag your It" which I miss quite a lot..........and Gez and Ang.

Here is my "Twinchie"...........first I have ever done and a bit different to my norm I think.............background inked lightly with DI WL.......overstamped with same using a scroll stamp then stamped circular motif in black.....both stamps Anna Griffin..........the angel and flowers are scrapbook pieces that come on a sheet that I got from the Exeter show last year and not used till now......my own word stamp "angels" and a die cut heart grunged a bit with some DI FB.

Thanks for looking.............hope you can join in too.........have fun and get yourself over there pronto to see what it is all about.

xoxo
