On My Mind

Congratulations to this week's Featured Stamper, Denise Bryant!

I chose this card as my inspiration:

LIST: Bear with hat holding flowers, tree, hugs, clouds, window, gingham, colours (green, brown, red & blue)

INCLUDE: bear holding something, hugs theme, gingham, flowers

MODIFY: bear is white, no hat, holding die cut HUG.

EXCLUDE: tree, clouds, hat, window

SPIN: added glitter to the letters, 2nd generation stamping of flowers in the background.

I started by stamping and cutting the bear, and adding some shading with warm gray Copic markers. I cut the HUG letters and coloured them with bright colours and Star Dust Stickles for some sparkle.

I stamped a gingham background onto a square panel and then popped up the bear with the letters. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx ink.

Before I attached the panel to a white square cardbase, I used second-generation stamping to subtly stamp some subtle flowers in the top right and bottom left corners.

Summer of Stamping: Camp Wanna Stamp

It's Week 3 of Ellen Hutson's Summer of Stamping and today's set is from Avery Elle, available exclusively in the Ellen Hutson shop! It's called Camp Wanna Stamp - that's my kind of camp!

I'm not in today's hop, but be sure to start at Ellen's blog and hop and comment for a chance to win!

I stamped and coloured the 4 critters in the set with Copic markers. Then I masked them and blended ink around each one.

My sentiment is from Avery Elle's Banner Bits, snipped apart to allow for the fishing rod.

I added some of the 'extra' images from the set, including their little paws.  I also used a black pen to add some eyes - I think this gives them even more personality, don't you?

S'more Shaped Card (Essentials by Ellen Summer of Stamping Release!)

Good morning and welcome to Ellen's Summer of Stamping!

Today is release day for our exclusive Lawn Fawn set, The S'More the Merrier, and we're having a blog hop to celebrate (details below).

I decided to make a fake shaped card.

I started by creating my s'more. I cut strips of Kraft cardstock for my graham crackers. I stamped them with one of the Pattern Play stamps for a little texture.

Then I used the Landscape dies and more Kraft cardstock, to cut my melty chocolate. I inked it with Icing on the Cake ink to get my chocolate colour.

Finally, I cut a rectangle for my marshmallow, and I rounded the corners with an old punch. I blended Sand Castle and Shea Butter ink on the edges to give it some toasty colour and dimension.

When I put it on a 4.25 square card, you could still see the card base where the marshmallow corners were rounded, and I didn't really like that look. So I just cut the cardbase to 4 inches wide (I left the height at 4.25).

Here's a view from the back so you can see what I mean:

Oh, baby, baby! (Card for twins!)

click here for my 30 Days Colouring post.

Good morning! Today the Ellen Hutson Design Ambassadors are having a little Sprinkle for our teammate, Emily, who is expecting twin boys soon! (you can see the rest of the team's cards on Ellen's blog here).

A Sprinkle is a toned-down baby shower for second babies. Or, in this case, 3rd and 4th babies, since Emily already has twins at home!

Congratulations and best wishes to Emily and her family!

To make my card, I used the new Stripe Background stamp to create a plaid panel with Juniper Mist and Aquatini ink. Then I blended Juniper Mist, Fiesta Blue and It's a Boy over top to create a more tone on tone look.

I cut a circle using one of the new Essential Circles dies and turned it 90 degrees so that the plaid is going the other way. I blended Juniper Mist ink around the edges.

For my sentiment, I used letters from words from the Block Words die set. To save me having to line them up, I glued them down in a bouncy way on purpose!

And finally, I added some little otters from Otterly Awesome, holding some hearts from It's a Date.

Pond Friends on SALE!

There's a sale on right now, at Pretty Pink Posh - the new Pond Friends set is 30% off from February 20 - 23!

This set has adorable critters including the frog and snails I used to make these cards, as well as swans and accessories.

These two snails left a colour-changing heart-shaped trail as they found each other.

And this frog is leaping for joy!
