Muse 288 - Noel

Here's my card for this week's Muse challenge, where our Guest Muse Laurel gave us this pretty floral inspiration:

I focused on Laurel's:
-floral theme
-ecipse sentiment
-faux watercolour technique

I'm behind in my Christmas cards, so I chose a poinsettia for my technique. Since it is an outline stamp, I flipped it over and inked the back of the stamp with Catherine Pooler inks before spritzing and stamping onto watercolour cardstock.

Once it was dry, I stamped the outline image and embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I lined up my letter dies and cut the word Noel from the panel, and also 2 more times from black cardstock. I stacked the letters and then placed them into the panel.

Muse 287 - Awesome

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club where Kim gave us this pretty inspiration:

I focused on Kim's:
-purple, green, black and white colours
-black sentiment
-sparkle
-flowers

I started by blending ink onto a white panel. I spritzed it with water to create some texture and interest.

I cut some flowers and leaves and blended green ink onto the leaves. I die cut the sentiment from black cardstock and glued everything on.

Muse Challenge #286 - Thanks

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club where Tracey gave us this inspiration:

I focused on Tracey's:
-wreath
-fall colours
-pop of pink

I used Catherine Pooler wreath stamp and my MISTI to stamp it 4 times in different colours, turning the stamp each time.

I cut the thanks die cut 3 times, coloured the top one with Party Dress ink and then stacked them up and glued them together.

I finished the card with some gold confetti sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

AJVD - Be-Leaf

I'm on the A Jillian Vance Design blog today with a quick video showing how I made this CAS card for this week's Muse Card Club.

Yes, another one. Remember the inspiration from Anita?

This time I focused on:
-white stripes
-leaf
-fall colours

but in a completely different way from yesterday.

Muse 285 - Thank You

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club, where Anita gave us this inspiration:

I focused on Anita's:
-leaf theme
-stripes
-colours

I stamped a panel with Altenew's Pinstripe background stamp and Wow Embossing ink. Before I embossed, I stamped the panel again with the open leaves from Leaf Canopy. Then I embossed with WOW Silver Pearl embossing powder and blended inks over top in rich fall colours. This gave the open leaves a striped look.

Muse 284 - Thank You

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club, where our Guest Muse, Michelle, gave us this pretty inspiration:

I focused on Michelle's:
-black white and red colour scheme
-floral theme
-solid sentiment
-striped edge element

I stamped and cut a bouquet of flowers, and then coloured with red and warm gray markers, to create some dimension and a pop of colour.

I stamped the sentiment on a white panel and popped it up over another panel that had been stamped with diagonal stripes.

Muse 283 - Hello

I had fun with this week's Muse challenge, where Kim gave us this adorable inspiration:

I focused on Kim's:
-pink, grey and white colours
-critters
-white sentiment on grey background with pink frame

I have adored these Pretty Pink Posh hummingbirds ever since they were released, but never quite got around to purchasing them. When I mentioned this to Cat, when she made this card for a previous Muse challenge, she very generously stamped and cut a bunch of them and popped them in the mail to me.

Today was the perfect day to use them (notice how their neck ruffs are scalloped like the cupcake icing!)! I coloured them with Copic markers and then worked on my layout. This Hello shaker die seemed just the thing to mimic Kim's embossed sentiment panel, so I cut it out of white cardstock, coloured the frame with one of the same Copics and then layered some grey cardstock underneath.

Muse 282 - Hello Beautiful

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club, where Tracey gave us this graphic, artistic inspiration:

I focused on Tracey's:
-floral theme
-colours
-graphic feel

I stamped the Mondo Sakura image from Essentials by Ellen with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I wanted to get a similar graphic look that Tracey achieved with her solid stamping. I used Copics, with no shading (it felt weird! lol!) and chose only 5 colours!

The colouring went quick and in the end, I think I achieved a similar feel using a different technique.

Muse 281 - Thank You

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club, where Anita gave us this neat inspiration:

I focused on Anita's:
-colours
-bold black
-silver accent
-clean and simple design

I stamped some solid flowers from Altenew, using Catherine Pooler inks (Sweet Sixteen, It's a Boy) and then overstamped with the smaller flower in the opposite colour, using my MISTI to line it up. I love how this ended up giving me 4 shades of blues and purples - kind of a nod to the ink blending that Anita did. I expected that combining them would result in only 1 additional colour - I think it's kind of neat that the shade is different depending on which ink was stamped first!

I chose a bold, graphic sentiment and stamped it with Midnight and added a strip of silver glitter cardstock to the bottom edge.

Muse 278 - Celebrate

Here's my card for this week's Muse Card Club where Anita gave us this pretty inspiration:

I focused on Anita's:
-floral theme
-colour combination

I heat embossed my Roses All Over background with Soft Mango embossing powder before adding some colour with Catherine Pooler inks. I cut my sentiment 3 times, heat embossed the top layer with Oyster Glintz powder and stacked them up.

Muse 277 - Thank You

Here's my card for this week's Muse challenge, where our Guest Muse Tristan gave us this inspiration:

I focused on Tristan's:
-blue, green & white colour scheme
-offset, round focal image
-frame

I stamped one of the Concord & 9th Wreath turnabouts using Hero Arts Ombre inks to get some variation in colours. I cut the wreath out with two circle dies and popped it up on a white cardbase. I stamped the sentiment in the centre using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.

Muse 276 - Happy Anniversary

I had fun making my card for this week's Muse Challenge, where Guest Muse Bharati gave us this sweet inspiration:

I focused on Bharati's:
-rainbow, geometric background
-focal image with two 'bumps'
-strip sentiment with white embossing

I created my background with an MFT background stamp embossed in white on watercolour cardstock. I slopped (sounds messy, but it's true!) Catherine Pooler inks all over it in several layers so that in some areas with was blended and in others it was layered.

The heads of the hedgehogs made me think of a tilted heart so I kept it clean and simple with a white Heart Stax (these appear to be discontinued, so I linked to the Pierced Heart Stax below). I finished with a simple sentiment embossed in white on a black strip.

Muse 275 - Fabulous

Here's my card for this week's Muse Challenge, where Kim gave us this inspiration:

I focused on Kim's:
-coffee theme
-polka dots
-rainbow of pastel colours

I reversed Kim's dots - I put them on the centre and left the space around them blank. I used similar pastel colours as the donus on my dots.

Muse 274 - Thank You

I pulled out some new Altenew goodies and my favourite Catherine Pooler inks to make this card for this week's Muse challenge, where Tracey brought us this inspiration:

I focused on Tracey's:
-blue smooshed background
-gold embossing
-black sentiment
-colours

Don't you love how this flower almost looks like the ends of a mermaid's tail?

I started by smooshing 4 colours of CP Ink onto my watercolour panel to create a rich blended background.  On another panel, I stamped the flower with Versamark then embossed with gold embossing powder.  I watercoloured it with yellow, orange, red and green CP Inks and used the matching die to cut it out. I used Copics to colour the edges around the flower to match the background.

Here's a close-up so you can see the shimmer:

Muse 273 - Thanks

I made these two card for this week's Muse Card Club, where Anita gave us this pretty inspiration:

I focused on Anita's:
-blended colours
-black elements and sentiment

As you can see, I ended up making two cards. This is my first time ever using Arches Cold Press Watercolour paper and I was having fun seeing how I liked it.

For the first card, I reversed Anita's idea of the blended stripe on the plain background. I masked a vertical stripe then created my blended background using Catherine Pooler inks. Wow do they ever blend seamlessly on this cardstock! I removed the mask right away, but still got 'fluffy' edges (not sure if that's the paper or the mask). Once it was dry, I stamped a branch from Wild Garden and a sentiment from Counting Blessings. Thank goodness for MISTI because I had to stamp over and over to get a black impression. I tried both Midnight and Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, both needed to be stamped several times on this bumpy, absorbent paper.

For the second card, I created a horizontal stripe like Anita's, but with vertical blending. Or is that horizontal blending? Well, you know what I mean! lol!

I stamped some stars from Starlights and a sentiment from Spot On and then used the matching die to cut out the star and popped it up.

Overall, I loved painting on the cardstock, but I'm not in love with the creamy colour. I prefer a clean, crisp white. But the ease and result of the blending was amazing, so I'll definitely use it again, at least for that.
