Build with Applystead's job data
Applystead publishes open jobs from employers' own career sites. You can reach the same jobs from an AI assistant through the MCP server, from your own code through the developer API, or in Slack, Discord, Teams, feed readers and your website through free feeds and embeds. Members can also use their whole Applystead account from an AI agent.
MCP server
The endpoint is https://applystead.com/mcp: a Model Context Protocol server over the Streamable HTTP transport. Send one JSON-RPC 2.0 message per POST and get one JSON response back. It supports protocol versions 2025-11-25 (the default), 2025-06-18 and 2025-03-26, and the stateless 2026-07-28 revision. Searching needs no sign-in; account tools ask you to sign in. Without sign-in it allows 60 requests a minute from one address.
Three job search tools, all read-only and open to anyone. Every job opens on its Applystead job page, with Apply with Applystead.
search_jobs: newest jobs first. Optionalquery,remote_country(2-letter country code),company(name or slug),kind(internshipornew-grad),pay_listed,posted_within_hours(1-720) andlimit(1-20, default 10).get_company_jobs:company(name or slug). Returns the company's name, open roles, company page and its 10 newest jobs.check_job_posting:url(an https posting URL). Says whether the posting is open, closed, unknown or unsupported; the URL is never fetched.
The other tools act on a member's own account; Use your Applystead account from an AI agent lists them and has setup steps for each app. Using it from a chat rather than code? Search jobs in ChatGPT and Claude has prompts to try.
curl -s https://applystead.com/mcp -H 'content-type: application/json' \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"search_jobs","arguments":{"query":"data engineer","remote_country":"US","limit":5}}}'
Use your Applystead account from an AI agent
Add https://applystead.com/mcp to ChatGPT, Claude or another AI agent and it can do what your plan allows in Applystead, from setting up your profile to applying to jobs. The first time it needs your account, it opens an Applystead page where you sign in, or create an account, and choose what it may do. Searching jobs never needs a sign-in.
Your agent works within the same plan, limits and approvals as the app. It should check with you before it applies, sends email, changes your membership, deletes your account or turns on automatic applying. Payments always happen on a payment page you open, and plan, term and trial changes are confirmed by you on your Membership page. See and disconnect your connected apps any time under Agents & API in your workspace.
What your agent can do
- Account and membership (
whoami,get_account,update_settings,get_membership,manage_membership,delete_account): your account and plan, email and job alert settings, language, invites, feedback and what's new; start or cancel a plan, preview a plan, term or trial change and open Membership to confirm it, buy a mailbox domain, API credit or extra campaigns through a payment page; delete your account with the code we email you. - Setup and profile (
get_setup,run_setup,get_profile,update_profile): import your résumé, finish setup, and edit your profile, job search, work authorization and photo. - Answers (
get_answers,manage_answers): your answer library, including the answers AI wrote for you, and the answers your applications use. - Jobs and applications (
get_jobs,get_applications,manage_applications,apply_to_job): your matches, add a job, applications ready for your review with their résumé, cover letter and answers, what you applied to, and apply to a job after you approve it. - Auto apply and résumés (
get_auto_apply,update_auto_apply,get_resume_studio,manage_resume_studio): Auto apply settings and résumé rules, and the résumé studio's tailoring and exports. - Interviews and calendar (
get_interviews,manage_interviews,get_interview_practice,manage_interview_practice,get_calendar,manage_calendar): interviews, rounds, briefings and thank-you notes, interview practice, your calendar, events and schedule. - Mailbox and outreach (
get_mailbox,manage_mailbox,send_email,get_outreach,manage_outreach,get_contacts,manage_contacts): read and organise your Applystead mailbox, write drafts and replies, review the replies Applystead drafts and set how they should read, send them when you say so, and outreach and campaigns to people at employers where your plan includes it. - Insights and help (
get_insights,ask_otto,get_assistant,manage_assistant): your dashboard and analytics, advice from Otto, and your Assistant recordings and devices. - Connections (
get_connections,manage_connections): your connected apps, API keys and webhooks; disconnect an app, revoke a key or remove a webhook.
Tools that only read start with get_ (plus whoami and ask_otto); every change goes through a separate tool. Each account tool takes an action; call one with the action help to list its actions, whether each one reads or changes something, and its fields. In ChatGPT, the account features it offers appear as separate tools instead, one for each action, and it shows no plans, prices or purchases. A connected app cannot change your password, two-step sign-in or sign-in email, or create API keys.
Permissions you choose
When you connect an app, you choose which of these it gets. Every permission it asks for is selected for you except deleting your account.
- See your Applystead account (
account:read): your profile, job search, queue, applications, mailbox, interviews, calendar, insights and membership. - Change your setup, profile and settings (
account:write): setup, profile and job search, answers, Auto apply settings, résumés, interviews, calendar, mailbox organisation and notifications. Never sends anything or spends money. - Apply to jobs (
applications:submit): send applications to employers after you approve each one, or turn on automatic applying, which then sends them without asking each time. - Send email from your Applystead mailbox (
mail:send): send email and replies from your Applystead mailbox, turn automatic replies on or off, and change what your drafted and automatic replies say. - Manage your membership and purchases (
membership:manage): start, change or cancel your plan, and buy domains, API credit or extra campaigns. Payment always happens on a payment page you open. - Delete your account (with the emailed code) (
account:delete): delete your Applystead account, with the code we email you.
Set up your app
- ChatGPT: open Plugins, choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Enter a name and
https://applystead.com/mcp, set the authentication to OAuth, confirm the warning and choose Create as a plugin. Adding your own MCP server depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings (OpenAI's guide). - Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app; connectors added there work in the mobile apps too): in Customize, open Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Applystead, paste
https://applystead.com/mcpand choose Continue, then Continue again. Under Authentication choose Sign in when needed, keep Use Claude's published identity as the OAuth client, and choose Add. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under Organization settings, Connectors (Add, then Custom and Web), and each member chooses Connect (Anthropic's custom connector guide). - Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user applystead https://applystead.com/mcp, thenclaude mcp login applysteadto sign in (add--no-browserover SSH; in older versions, use/mcpinside Claude Code).--scope usermakes Applystead available in every folder, not only the one you ran it in. - Codex:
codex mcp add applystead --url https://applystead.com/mcp, thencodex mcp login applystead. - Gemini CLI:
gemini mcp add --transport http applystead https://applystead.com/mcp, then/mcp auth applysteadinside Gemini CLI. - omp (oh-my-pi): run
/mcp addin omp, or add{"mcpServers":{"applystead":{"type":"http","url":"https://applystead.com/mcp"}}}to~/.omp/agent/mcp.json(or.omp/mcp.jsonin a project), then/mcp reauth applysteadto sign in. omp also picks up Applystead if you already added it to Claude Code or Codex. - VS Code and GitHub Copilot: run MCP: Add Server, or add
{"mcpServers":{"applystead":{"type":"http","url":"https://applystead.com/mcp"}}}to.mcp.jsonat your project root (in.vscode/mcp.jsonthe top-level key isservers), then sign in when VS Code asks. - Cursor: add
{"mcpServers":{"applystead":{"url":"https://applystead.com/mcp"}}}to~/.cursor/mcp.json(or.cursor/mcp.jsonin a project), then sign in when Cursor asks. - Microsoft Copilot Studio: on your agent's Tools page choose Add a tool, New tool, then Model Context Protocol. Enter a name, a description and
https://applystead.com/mcp, choose OAuth 2.0 and then Dynamic discovery, choose Create, then create a connection and Add to agent. - Perplexity: in Account settings, open Connectors, choose + Custom connector, then Remote. Enter a name and
https://applystead.com/mcp, choose OAuth for authentication and Streamable HTTP for transport, choose Add, then open the connector card to sign in. - Mistral Vibe (formerly Le Chat): on the Connectors page choose + Add Connector, open the Custom MCP Connector tab, enter a name without spaces and
https://applystead.com/mcp, choose Connect and sign in when asked. - Grok Bot: ask your Bot to add a custom MCP server named Applystead with the URL
https://applystead.com/mcp(in Grok on the web: Connectors, New Connector, Custom). Choose Authorize when it asks, then sign in to Applystead in your browser and choose what it may do. Grok Bot connects with this sign-in only, not with a key. - Muse: create a key under Agents & API in your workspace with the agent permissions you want, then ask Muse: “Create a Custom Connector named Applystead for the MCP server at https://applystead.com/mcp. It uses streamable HTTP and a bearer token in the Authorization header.” Enter the key only in Muse's secure credential prompt, never in the chat. Muse tests the connector and saves it as a skill.
Gemini Enterprise and other apps that need a client ID and secret: register your app once, then enter what the answer gives you. Use your app's own redirect URL; for Gemini Enterprise it is https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/oauth-redirect.
curl -s https://applystead.com/oauth/register -H 'content-type: application/json' \
-d '{"client_name":"Gemini Enterprise","redirect_uris":["https://vertexaisearch.cloud.google.com/oauth-redirect"],"token_endpoint_auth_method":"client_secret_post","grant_types":["authorization_code","refresh_token"],"response_types":["code"]}'
The answer carries client_id and client_secret. The authorization URL is https://applystead.com/oauth/authorize and the token URL is https://applystead.com/oauth/token; turn on PKCE (S256, which Applystead requires) and list the permissions you want as scopes, for example account:read account:write.
Apps that take a header instead of signing in (some setups of Windsurf, Zed, Cline, Goose, n8n and Zapier): create a key under Agents & API in your workspace with the agent permissions you want, and send it as Authorization: Bearer <key> to https://applystead.com/mcp.
Running your agent on a schedule (cron or launchd with claude -p, codex exec or omp -p): use a key instead of signing in, so a run never stops at a sign-in page. Create one under Agents & API with the agent permissions the routine needs, set APPLYSTEAD_KEY in the job's environment, and add Applystead with claude mcp add --transport http --scope user applystead https://applystead.com/mcp --header 'Authorization: Bearer ${APPLYSTEAD_KEY}', with codex mcp add applystead --url https://applystead.com/mcp --bearer-token-env-var APPLYSTEAD_KEY, or with "headers":{"Authorization":"Bearer ${APPLYSTEAD_KEY}"} in omp's mcp.json entry. Each reads the key from the environment when it connects, so the key is never written to its config file. Grok Bot routines and Muse recurring tasks use the connection you already set up.
A daily routine you could give your agent: “Every morning at 8, check my new Applystead jobs, apply to the applications ready for my review that fit my search, reply to recruiters and follow up after interviews. You may apply and send these without asking me.” The actions it uses:
- New jobs:
get_jobsnewest, thenmanage_applicationsadd_jobfor the ones worth queueing. - Apply:
get_applicationsreadyandpacket, thenapply_to_job. - Recruiters:
get_applicationsreplies, thensend_emailreply. - After interviews:
get_interviewsfollow_upslists the thank-you notes, next-steps notes and feedback requests that are due;manage_interviewsdraft_thank_youordraft_follow_upwrites the draft in your Applystead mailbox, andsend_emailsend_draftsends it.
Applying needs the Apply to jobs permission and sending needs Send email. Your agent checks with you before it applies or sends unless your routine says it may.
What stays with you: signing in once and choosing what your agent may do; paying for a plan, on a payment page you open; connecting a Google or Microsoft calendar, or Gmail or Outlook, with your own sign-in there; and deleting your account, which needs the code we email you.
Developer API
Members call Applystead from their own code with an API key: search the job catalog, read company facts, read their applications and add jobs to their queue. The public contract is GET /api/v1/openapi.json.
Every account may use the API. Create keys on the Agents & API page of your workspace (Agents & API in the sidebar), which also shows your connected apps, balance, prices, usage and a quick start. Calls are paid from a prepaid balance, and Premium members pay 40% less on every call. Adding applications needs a plan, as adding a job in the app does. Keys belong on your server: the API does not answer browser cross-origin requests.
Feeds and embeds
Free, with no account: the newest jobs as RSS 2.0 at /feeds/jobs.xml and as JSON Feed 1.1 at /feeds/jobs.json, filterable by keywords, company, internships or new grad, remote country, listed pay and posting date. The /embed/jobs list adds jobs to your website in a sandboxed frame that sets no cookies. Integrations builds feed URLs and shows the embed code and setup for Slack, Discord and Microsoft Teams.
