Don’t Go Quietly Into That Good Morning

Rise
writhe
and riot
We don’t have to settle for
lives of regret
longing
and quiet
We can still
seize
grapple
and grasp
lost tendrils of
hope
the us we
remember
those fleeting shades of
our past.

Mornin’, folks. Looks like Monday is at it again. Still, despite being stuck on that weekly wheel, we don’t have to just go with the grind. Wrote a little something that I hope reminds you that there’s still plenty of time to do what you wanna do and be who you wanna be. That’s right, it’s just a lil’ Monday motivation from the likes of me. Hope you enjoy.
As always: here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Life (In Layman’s Terms)
It’s a rut.
The tire dug a hole and
then got stuck.
You can rock it,
forward and reverse,
but grooves manufactured only
make the damned thing
all the worse.

Monday again, folks. Well, I sure as heck can’t keep it another work week from coming, but hopefully I came make it a little better. The poem above is from a few scrap ideas that I’ve enjoyed, and I thought you might like them to. Simple to understand and gets to the point of it, I’d like to think.
If that guy above just isn’t doing the job for ya, maybe checking out my Pintrest will brighten your Monday right on up. You can find it here, and be sure to let me know if you enjoy!

Well, as usual, I hope your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
Off To the Races

Face it
We’re all lined up
stuck at the gate
alarms go off and
we chase it
Hounds horses
humans
led by with
jockeys horns
lures
We can accept
love hate it
but in the end
we’re all just
retired worn
jaded.

Another day another dollar, folks. Monday’s come back around the track again but, never fear, I’ve got that little scrap up there and then, of course, a little bit of humor always stuck down here. Hope you enjoyed it and, if you’re looking for something to help you ease off the reigns, be sure to check out my old Monday poems and pintrest board via the links below.

Bitter Whine

Mornings like this
make me wonder
why I ever
gave
drinking up,
why I traded in
my shot glass
and took up
that
coffee mug.
Shoulda joined
the band at the bar
could’ve been famous
drinking
whiskey all the time,
but I had to go
and get educated so
now all I ever have to
drink
is this bitter whine.

Mornin’, Folks. It’s Monday again, isn’t it? I’ve tried to ignore that fact myself. However, it’s there all the same. Hope this little re-write from 2017 gives you a little something to smile at in the morning.
As for myself, I think I’ll have a bit of chateau de suck-it-up, and try my best to make it through the day

Vicious Cycle

Retrograde Operations
–
How did we get here?
Reverse engineer
the steps
the time
the acts
it took to
be so far stranded
to see so clearly how
everything so guided
fell apart.
Then exfil with your
anger and make
amends
face the facts and
unfollow trends that
tore you
apart.

Just a lil’ scrap as promised, folks. Sticking with the theme of vicious cycles, of course. Working on getting some more of my poetry work ready for submission, and found this scrap I thought you were all owed.

Carpe Dammit

Still working on actual submissions, folks. On number two out of three short stories, and working on a few poems to get out. Once these guys clear some mental space I’ll get back to posting my poem snippets here. In the mean time, I’d be happy to take a look at whatever you’ve got going on. Feel free to direct me to your work in the comments if I don’t have a chance to check you out as one of the blogs I follow!

Still doing a bit of work for a few short story submissions, but I always have time to find a few funnies to add to the Pinterest board. Here’s to hoping you enjoyed the one above but, if you’d like to see more, I’ve got a whole stash on the board link below.

Misplaced Monday

I was born ready
to
make poor decisions
and
minor infractions growing
bitter
instead of
up
We’re all just creatures
of
habit not living up
to
our own standards
Getting sucked
in
down
instead
of
out.

Mornin’, folks. Hope you enjoy the scrap above. Got robbed of a little time formatting a manuscript for submission, so you might see various versions of the above poem in works again when I’ve had a little more time to play around with it. I like the feel but not the cadence. Not just yet.
