Down And Out

Rise and shine
just to get
up and at ’em
Gotta fill up
get tough and
keep on battlein’
because when your
tired, fed up
down and out
that’s when you’ve gotta
pick up , get tall
and put your money
in your mouth.

We’re in this together, folks. Another Monday come round but don’t you worry. We’ll get our coffee cups full, get on to work, and just work it on out. You’re already past the hardest part of your day, so don’t let anything go on and get you down.
As always: here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

I Ate’nt Dead

Just recovering from a cross country move and getting the homestead unpacked (by which I mean the bar. I’m unpacking the bar).
Posts scheduled for next week but, till then, here’s links to all my previous posts to get you through this, the most heinous of weekdays.

Keeping On

Coffee can kiss me good morning
as sure as gin ‘ll kiss me goodnight
I gotta vice for ever moment,
an excuse for every regret
but that’s alright
because at least I haven’t stopped moving
yeah, I’m dragging but carrying on
my heart keeps beating
my head keeps dreaming
my legs keep leading
me into every new dusk
and dawn.

Monday again, folks. Let’s hope that you find something that keeps you going and, if you’re having a little trouble putting one foot after the other this morning, that this lil’ poem helps you out. If not, I’d try the links below for some old Monday posts and Pins that might just make ya smile.

Stuck In The Middle
I’m in some strange state
between life and death
some strange place between
failure and success
it’s the middle ground of
life
and middle age is rife
with battles old, new
challenges never met
where each and and every
morning
I war cry a sigh and raise
my standard, my banner, of
regret.

Time for some Monday mourning again. Reaching that middle ground and feeling like, perhaps, there’s a little something to be said for it.

Divine Intervention
Spent the last two days
trying to forget
drank away the
night and day
the rest I just sat
wondering exactly
where time went
all of that only to be
back here again
this place where
coffee is my only friend
And yet I take that as
proof that, somewhere,
we’ve got a friend who,
somehow,
agrees
that we need a little help
to make it
awake and sane
through the
week.

Well, it happened again didn’t it folks? It’s Monday and that means we’ve got to get on back to our work week. Still, it’s not as bad as it could be. Just think of the horror it would be if there wasn’t anything like caffeine. What a cruel and horrible world it would be. That’s a scary thought right there.
Alright, I’ll let you get back to your day. Have a good one, and, as always, here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
P.S.
Having a bit of a hard start to your week? Why not check out my Pinterest for some more Monday Humor or take a look back at my previous Monday poems? Might just see a little something to help you make it through the day.
Weekend Regrets and Reflections
It wasn’t like I could
help it.
Last night was a blur of
wishes and was-es
regrets and never-s
sighs and bellows
cries that life
hadn’t come home.
I waited all night,
all my life,
but I was left with
empty promises
unfulfilled dreams and
an unsatisfied
strife-
a fight that wasn’t worth
my time.

Well, another Monday, folks. Here we are again and here we go to another work week. Above I gave you a lil’ diddy that might just explain some of those regrets coming off a weekend high. Or a weekend hangover, for that matter. Either way, hope you enjoy and here’s to hoping you’re going to have a not so regretful Monday.
Regretfully Sober
The work week snuck
up on me and I’m
grasping at straws,
stability that’ll
swing me through
the week
where I’m wishing that
each and every drink
had something stronger than
my paper-thin, another deadline
to get in,
resolve.

Back from break and faced with another week. Ain’t that the breaks, folks? No matter how hard you fight, kick, or scream the work week comes all the same! Still, I’d like to give an ode out to all those who, like me, find it hard to face it without a good stiff drink. So, to you out there who are wishing you had something more than coffee to guide you on through I feel you. We’ll get through this together, I promise.
Here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that something cold and on the rocks is waiting for you when you get home at night!
Obvious Intuition
Pick your poison
and I’ll tell
your fortune
my dear
because vices
aren’t made
but rather
adopted
and you’ve got
your fate
written all
over
your face.

Half way there and I hope you’re holding on strong, folks. It’s been one of those ‘dragging myself along by my ear lobes’ sort of weeks around here. That aside, I hope you’ve enjoyed the poem today. Had the idea started and just sort of rolled with it and let it form itself. It’s an applicable little poem for many people, me included. I sure don’t need a psychic to tell me what I’m all about, or most other people for that matter. Easy to figure out, on a surface level, what makes them tick especially if you know their vices.
One last note: Still working on the thank you poem. It’s there but not all there. For a teaser, I got the title so you’ll hopefully be seeing ‘We Will’ posted here in the next few days 🙂
Well, here’s to hoping that your day flies on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!
Opinions
Shrink: I think you’re an alcoholic.
Patient: And I think you’re a lousy square who is severely biased against awesomeness, but let’s keep our funny little opinions to ourselves, shall we?

In the lack of poems, I’ve got quips. Lots of funny little few liners that someone might get to chuckle at while I’m still scrounging for time. This one I found particularly funny just cause, you know, one man’s aliment is another’s enjoyment! Hope this funny little thing helps you get through your workday a little better.
Also a quick note: 2700! The number is crazy high, if you ask me. About three hundred more people decide to give a little quick, and I’ve got another awesome dedication poem to do and might just think of throwing a Facebook page up for good measure. Case any of you real nutjobs wanna see what I find funny, or get a glimpse at some of my scraps that I’m working to turn into poems!
