Stuck In The Middle
I’m in some strange state
between life and death
some strange place between
failure and success
it’s the middle ground of
life
and middle age is rife
with battles old, new
challenges never met
where each and and every
morning
I war cry a sigh and raise
my standard, my banner, of
regret.

Time for some Monday mourning again. Reaching that middle ground and feeling like, perhaps, there’s a little something to be said for it.
As always: here’s to hoping your day flies right on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.

Out Of Office

A little bit out of the office as well as a bit out of my mind this morning, folks. Don’t you worry though, I wouldn’t leave you on a Monday high and dry. I’ve got plenty of updated pins on my Pintrest board that I’m sure will hit ya just right today, as well as a link to all my previous Monday poems.

Faith

They say
have faith in
creation
your fellow man and
your place in
life
But I’ve
walked around
this wide world
and I’ve met men
both of cloth
and laws
The only things
I put faith in
are
geysers,
guns,
and dogs.

Well-Meaning Monday

No good deed goes unpunished
no dreamer finds time to sleep
and we of the tender hearts
are only
that way from being beat
We’re taking the high road to our
personal hells just
digging our own graves while
trying to dig them their wells

They say the road to hell’s paved with good intentions. Personally, I think that applies to most highways, too. Yet to find someone making an early morning commute who wouldn’t rather be some place they ain’t.

Monday Mullings

You imagined something different
you imagined something more
and this
couldn’t
wouldn’t
can’t
be the way it all turns out
with you just
rising
writhing
full of doubt
and yet you know you’ll
carry on,
that you’ll keep on
marching
driving
fighting
until your card is drawn
Wondering a bit about the word in that title? Well, ‘Webster’s (1879) defined mullings as “to work steadily without accomplishing much,” which may connect it to earlier identical word in athletics sense of “to botch, muff” (1862). Related: Mulled; mulling’.
There you have it, folks, I found the perfect word to go right along with Mondays. It even sounds good together. Would ya look at that?
