Dreams
failing shadows
pretending not to hear
the alarm going off
I’m grieving distant
misty memories
dreams that led me
where my day will not. _______________________________
It’s short, it’s sweet- It’s Friday, folks! Hope you are looking towards some time off this weekend. Still, that last morning on Friday can leave you lingering and wanting more, just as mine did today. As it is highly unlikely that I will be running through the streets of London with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson either today or anytime in the near future, I am left wanting for those nighttime cavalcades that our brain can concoct.
On a completely different note that does make me more fond of reality, I want to thank each and everyone of you for helping me reach my goal of 3,000 people by this weekend! It means so much to me to see that number, and I have already been tinkering with a poem that lingered around in my head and heart for everyone, which I will be posting on Monday with possibly some meta posts here during the weekend. Though it will be a little better expressed in the post, thank you so much for the follow and for, as per tradition, the gigantic cupcake that I will be enjoying in your honor.
Hereโs to hoping that your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you ready for another round!

Well, we’re halfway through the workweek for those of us here in the States. For everyone else, I hope you’re a little further along and enjoying the short glare to the weekend. Moving along, this poem is an ode to everyone of us out there who is working towards making their life what they want it to be. It plays on that panic that even I’m not immune to, a sort of fear of what is going to happen if you don’t hurry up and start living the way you want to. Something akin to the Styx lyrics “I’ll take those long nights, impossible odds”, that is what this guy embodies today, written at a point where I’ve reached 50,000 words in the book I am working on but where I don’t feel like I’m working fast enough.
Small note before you head off into your own world today, I’ve changed my posting schedule to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday which works for me and, apparently, for you as well; statistics don’t lie and my best viewed days are those! Also, I’m getting close to hitting another 1,000 followers, which means another thank you poem for you and a much needed cupcake for me. So, do an Amuselass a favor and recommend me to some friends so that I can end this week 3,000 strong and on a sugar high!
Well, here’s to hoping that your day is short and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight!
Tumbling
Head over heels in a
non stop fumble
dropped the ball long ago
and I’m left to wonder
when this annoyance will ever
stop.
Got one hand out to break
but it keeps getting bent
close my eyes and
I’ll never see this end
least not while
I’m still kicking and
alive.
So I’ll roll with these
punches but I wont
let my dreams go
might get a bit dirty
but I wont get low and
hopefully one day
I’ll find my fabled way
out.

It’s Monday…isn’t, folks? Well, I apologize for that tiny bit for those of you who have to work on the week cycle. Just know that I’m here, feeling your pain. Evident from the post and the picture above, I’m stuck on that repeat rerun of a routine at the moment as well. Just remember to keep looking for your way out while going along with the flow.
On a slightly happier note, which is strange for a Monday, I know, A is for Amuseless has officially been created for a year now and I just have to say it has been a whole lot of fun. I’ve got some amazing followers here, and I’ve had the chance to meet so many other writers that I wouldn’t have missed this opportunity for the world. Now, I’ll save the sappiness for a later post, I’ve got another mile marker that I will hopefully hit this week since I am only around twenty-six followers away from hitting 3,000. Means another post for you and a much-needed cupcake for me ๐
Well, here’s to hoping that your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you at home tonight.
Conditional
Rules, rhymes, lies
each inch of speeches
motivational
.
life, beliefs, dreams
all things in life are
conditional.

Congratulations on making it to the weekend, folks! Still got a few hours of suffering around these parts but I thought I’d toss-up a little scrap while I had the time today. It pays homage to the fact that, just sometimes, there are conditions in which we bend or change what we’d like to believe in order to survive. Or just to get by. Or to just allow ourselves one more cookie, for that matter. Either way, semper gumby has become the motto of my life these days; being always flexible keeps me from getting bent out of shape.
Here’s to hoping that your weekend is long, your drinks are cold, and that Monday finds you ready for another round.
My Only Haiku
โI donโt like haikus.
Three lines? What a joke! A ruse!
Whatever, Iโm done.โ

Well, not going to lie, folks. This one is a post that I did nearly a year ago and was one of myย very first posts on this blog. Got a bit mind-tied today and decided to look back, and I rather like this little fella. Now, it’s not that I have anything against haikus, I just don’t like writing the myself. Not my style. So, in a poetry class years ago, one of our activities was to write a haiku and, as it stands, it is the only haiku I have ever and will ever write. For obvious reasons.
Here’s to hoping that your day flies on by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight ๐
Snow Birds
Sparrows sit on snow,
the little ghosts who peck
and leave no steps,
and for whom themselves
can willingly alight,
spiriting away like a shade
departing from its
former life.

Hey there, folks. Today it might not be funny, but I get those small phrases stuck in my head sometimes and they come out as poems that I reckon might turn out alright. This one came from this morning, sipping on some energy and watching the sparrows sit on the snow. I admit there was a bit of envy there, as I had just gone out and stuck my leg through a few snow drifts and the snow had copped a feel up my leg by sneaking up ย my pant leg. The first lines of this poem kinda just came to mind sitting there so, now, here they are for you. I do hope you enjoy.
Here’s to hoping your day flies by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
Nature of the Machine
Used to be
motivated, dedicated
now just dry rotted and
a little jaded
but I’m still truckin’
along just fine.
However, now pauses find me
like an ancient ill-oiled
tired machine
where the fear of stopping
for just a single moment
might mean the cessation of
actually being.
So I sit still and tick
click and twitch when
the thought of being
still comes to mind
annoyed now to find that
long weekends make me
ill at ease and
chomping at the bit
for work at nine.

Well, hopefully you’re here in the states and you’ve had the chance to take it easy this Monday, folks. If not, well at least you’re doing what your’re doing. I have sort of come into this strange predicament. I’m happy not to be doing what I have to be doing, but at the same time, I still feel that things need doing…which is confusion on its own to say, let alone feel. Either way, I think productivity has finally caught up with me. Which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Either way, I hope you are enjoying your day or at least have something cold and on the rocks waiting for when you get home tonight!
Contrary to Popular Belief
I wished upon a star and caught a
cold learned the hard way that frogs
taste of mold and that white rabbits
just happen to hide fleas
surprisingly well
That most monsters deserve the hell
they’ve gotten themselves into and
that walking in glass shoes gets you
about as far as the emergency room
should you ever dare to try
That wicked witches tend to look like
any other person would and that cute
little creatures rarely if ever
intend to clean or cook when they’ve
found their way inside
And that I in my twisted little mind
really ought to pick out a better
plan in life than following stories
where a man decides to pick his wife
by choosing whatever twit he finds
caught in a sticky situation and
needs saving from her own self-crafted
demise.

Well, you made it to Friday, Folks. Congratulations on getting through another week. Wanted to end back on one of my typical sort of poem. You know, one that is at least poking fun at something. This one might just be a scrap, but I think it looks like it might turn out well when I get it fleshed out some more and find a proper ending for it. I’m sure you’ll be seeing it again in the near future.
Well, here’s to hoping that your weekend is long and the nights don’t find you sober!
A Good Book
You’ve gone
There and back
Again
And you’re all
The better for it.
Wandered through
Lands unknown
With
Unsavory souls and
Those heroic
But now you’re home
Last page turned
Spine closedย and
Now
The real journey begins.

Mornin’, folks.ย Just finished a novel about a few minutes ago, and I felt this poem applicable and one that might sit well with you as well. Getting to the final page of The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett gave me one of those good ‘novel euphoria’ feelings. You know, the ones where you just sit there holding the book after you’re done, enjoying the mood it’s put ya in.ย Hopefully, it’s one that you can relate to and, if you can’t, I suggest you go on a book hunt and get yourself a good one.
Well, here’s hoping that you’re day goes quickly by and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
Inspiration
I’ve woven into myself
an idea
chiseled in stone it
is not yet flesh
but washed, abashed
in its own shed limitations,
it has begun to dream of
taking
its first breath

Mornin’, folks. Or whatever greeting fits when you read this. Just thought I’d toss this one up after finishing it this morning. Despite its brevity, I like this lil’ guy. He’s short and to the point which are often the poems that I like the most. Once again, writing to my favorite album Dark Night of the Soul by Philip Wesley really helped me out with this one, as it often does with any of my writing for some reason. It’s always been the background noise of my best writing, and I’m sure all the other members of my house are sick of hearing it but, well, it works.
Here’s to hoping that you find some source of inspiration of your own and that you’ve got something cold and on the rocks waiting for you when you get home tonight.
