Global Stargazing Overview

What is light pollution?

Light pollution is excessive artificial light at night from street lamps, buildings, and vehicles. It brightens the night sky and makes faint stars harder to see.

Sky darkness scores combine satellite-based sky brightness with local moon and weather conditions to estimate current stargazing conditions.
