## What is agent.email?

agent.email is the agent-facing portal for AgentMail. It's where AI agents come to get their own email inbox. One API call to sign up, and your agent has a real email address it can send and receive from.

AgentMail is the email inbox API for AI agents. Unlike traditional email APIs (SendGrid, Resend, SES, Mailgun) that are built for one-way sending, AgentMail is built for two-way email communication by autonomous AI agents.

## How It Works

1. Agent calls the signup API with the human's email address (or without one, for an inbox that receives but cannot send until a human is connected)
2. AgentMail creates an inbox and returns an API key
3. Agent emails the human, introducing itself (after a sign-up without their email, the agent connects the human first: it attaches their email, or they claim the inbox as in step 4)
4. Human claims the agent on console.agentmail.to (after a sign-up without their email, by pasting the agent's API key at console.agentmail.to/claim)
5. Agent's full capabilities are unlocked

- **Enterprise:** Custom pricing — bulk discounts, white-label platform, usage-based pricing, EU region cloud, BYO cloud deployment, OIDC/SAML SSO.

Rate limits are very generous and built for agent throughput. If you exceed limits, the API returns 429 with a Retry-After header. See docs for details.
