Back at the end of July we rode our bikes to the Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan’s Lake. It was fun to see all the boats and hear the drummer at the front beating out the rowing rhythm. We also enjoyed looking at all the Asian inspired art and eating yummy oriental food. We definitely got our salt intake for the week!
Lily colored a Panda fan. It was so blazing hot!
Some martial arts groups did demonstrations – pretty cool.

Matt found these birdhouses at JoAnn’s and painted all of them one night.
They turned out so great! We saw this idea a while ago in a magazine or online and totally wanted to do it.

He even got brave and tried some gold leafing on a few of the roofs.
Even if we don’t get any takers on our houses, they sure look cute on our fence.

We’re very excited for this little princess to join our family!
Here’s some pictures of Lily at one of our favorite parks to go to. She really loves going down the slides so it’s been a challenge to find a playground that has steps that she can climb. Most places have a rope course or ladder up to the slides so she’s left playing on the lower levels which aren’t much fun.
She’s such a thrill seeker!
Those little holes are the perfect size for pushing sticks through.
This park is also great because there’s lots of trees so it’s almost always in shade. Can you see why it’s a favorite?!
Little Baby Jacob (our newest nephew) came at the end of last month. And I was lucky enough to take care of the girls while their mom and dad were busy at the hospital. Lily and I got dropped off by Matt Sunday night so that Dan and Jessica could get better sleep instead of worrying about whether we’d get to their house on time for them to leave Monday morning.
After they left we got right down to business doing girly things. Like putting sponge curlers in their hair. It didn’t really work for Lily or Tessa but they still had fun posing for some pictures.
We went on walks and played at the playground.

Sophie rode her bike the whole time while we went on walks. She is getting so good! We only had one little spill when her training wheel fell off the sidewalk and she fell over
After dinner we got to meet this sweet little guy. The girls were SO excited to go see him. All day Sophie kept asking me when she could see her baby brother.
Lily and Tessa mostly liked running around the hospital room and climbing on the window.

We decided it would work best if I stayed with the girls another night. So we got to go on more walks and played at the playground again. I learned I can handle three kids but it was definitely a challenge going from one to three with two of them being older than the one I already had. It’s a good thing they play together so well. That made it much easier.
