Boy or Girl?

Our little one is a GIRL! It’s so nice to finally be able to say that it’s a boy or a girl, not “it” or “the baby.” She was extra wiggly the whole time and a little difficult, but we were definitely able to see girl parts by the end of the ultrasound. She looks healthy, which is what we were hoping for. She was sitting cross-legged, being a little lady, and her hands were constantly by her face. We were able to see most of her cute little body parts. There were a few things, like the spine and legs, that they weren’t able to get good measurements on, so we’ll get to see her again in a few weeks for another ultrasound.

We’re so glad that she looks healthy, but the doctor did have some concerns about the placement of the placenta and my cervix. They will be looking at those closer at the next ultrasound and again at around 28 weeks. For now all we can do is take it easy and hope for the best.

I can’t wait to start shopping for her!

In 2 days we will find out what our little one is. We’re very excited and couldn’t be happier to welcome him/her into our family. We have gone back and forth on what we think it is. Do you have a guess?

My Happy Place

For as long as I can remember I have loved babies – their little fingers and toes, their dimply chin, their sweet smell, and their cuddly-ness. Being part of a big family has allowed me to hold a lot of babies, and it never gets old for me. The best of all is holding a sleeping baby. This is when I am in my happy place. Thanks Connor for letting me hold you for a little while.

Disc Golf

Matt has rediscovered his love for disc golf and has even found more buddies to go with him. He, Brian, and Cameron have spent many hours throwing discs at the local courses. Recently, they decided to try a new course in Williamsburg. Haley even played too while Kimberly and I walked the beautiful course.  It was so well groomed and everyone was so friendly and helpful that worked there.

I found a tiny lizard and Matt tried to catch it, which resulted in half of it’s tail coming off. Sorry little lizard.

Cameron also found a big snake. What an exciting course!

Bump?

I think I’m finally getting a baby bump rather than looking like I’ve eaten too many Twinkies. I’m done with the first trimester and have been feeling great. I’m starting to get more energy during the day which has attributed to the sudden urge to de-junk and organize our apartment. I don’t know how we’re going to fit all the baby stuff in what little space we have.

I can still wear some of my pants (with the help of an elastic) which is nice because pretty much all the maternity clothes I have are for cooler weather and they’re too big to wear now. So hopefully I can hold out a little longer until I can fill in the maternity pants.

We’ve bought a few things for our little one since Babies R Us has had some good coupons lately.

Here is our car seat and stroller.

We have also bought a portable bassinet. What’s cool about this bassinet is the fact that one of the sides drops down and you can put it right next to the bed. Maybe I’ll put it on Matt’s side of the bed ;) It’s perfect for us since it’s small and the compartments underneath and on the side are great for storing blankets and other baby stuff.

It’s exciting to be able to buy all these things for our little one and makes it feel a little more real (even though it still feels very surreal).

I know I’ve been a REALLY bad blogger this past month. And it has nothing to do with not having anything to blog about because that would be a lie. I still have plenty of things to write about on our trip to Utah a month and a half ago. Matt keeps reminding me that people are going to stop reading our blog if I don’t keep up-to-date with it. So I’m sorry to all my faithful readers for not keeping you in our lives better. You probably don’t even care anymore what happened with us in July but just bare with me and I’ll try to make this as painless as I can :) And if you can’t make it to the end, I won’t be offended. It’s mostly just for my own memory, which seems to be failing more often lately.

24th of July

We had two family parties (at the same time) on the 24th of July.

The Chapman’s had a Luau complete with Polynesian dancing.

The Chapman garden was beautiful, as usual. We were able to spend some time with Uncle Willis and Aunt Wilma who were visiting from Texas. It was so great to see them again.

The Burk’s were having a backyard campout.

We all loved walking on the grass with our bare feet. Dirty feet are inevitable in the summer.

   

A miniature disc golf course was made and we had a great game using the tents and playground as obstacles.

 

  

Fireworks

I had a lot of fun doing some time-lapse photos when everyone was playing with the sparklers.

The next morning we had breakfast outside and, in no time, the kids had their swim suits on, ready for water games.

We were also able to go through the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I LOVE temples!
