I can't believe I ran the whole thing...

My goal was to make it to the half-way point before having to walk. But when I crossed that line, I was feeling good. So I decided to just keep jogging. Before I knew it I was passing the 4 mile mark, and then the 5 mile mark. So I thought, "Wouldn't that be cool if I just ran the whole way!" So that's what I did.  And, I didn't want to make the guys wait any longer for me since they had finished before I even began.Mar 28 2009 007

Brian, Brandon, Matt, and I joined over 30,000 others in the 10th Annual Monument 10K. It was such a fun race. Every few blocks there were bands playing music and people cheering you on from their front porches. It was the loudest race I have ever been in. But it kept me going all the way to the end.

My work paid for me to be in it so Matt said he'd do it too. We've been diligently working out every week to get ready and I think our work paid off.

Happy Birthday Annie!!

We want to wish you a very Happy Birthday! You've made it to a quarter of your life :) I had the kids in my class help me with a birthday poster for you. Complete with birthday cake, presents, balloons, and a butterfly on the back. Hope you like it!

Ann Birthday

And as a present, one of our butterflies decided to hatch today! We were all very excited. Hopefully for the next ones we'll actually get to see them hatching.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

My preschool class has been learning about life cycles and we have been watching our caterpillars grow. We are amazed at how they grew from tiny little things to fat caterpillars! Now they have made their chrysalides and are hanging out on the top of the cup. Next we move them to their butterfly habitat where they can hatch. I'm so excited! The kids and I have had so much fun watching them change everyday! I just wish I would have taken a picture when they were still in the caterpillar stage.Mar 16 2009 002

Smores before Snow

Before the big snowstorm hit, we had beautiful warm weather. So we took advantage of it and went to a local park to make smores. It made us all excited for the warm months ahead and lots of nights outside.

Trying to get the perfect toasted marshmallow like my Mom. No one can toast 'em like she can!Feb 27 2009 036 Feb 27 2009 048

{7 inches}

In Richmond, 7 inches of snow means

- the biggest snowstorm in 5 years

- 3 snow days and a delayed 4th day for most school districts (I only got one snow day and a delayed start the next)

- 1 snow day for VCU

- an extended weekend together

- first chance to use my snow boots in over 3 years

- finding out that snow boots aren't accustomed to sitting in a closet for 3 years

- getting stuck on the ice when we decided to be proactive and work out at the gym...that was fun:)

March is definitely coming in like a lion this year. We are having the biggest snow storm since we have come to the east coast. So Fun! And the best part of all, we get to sleep in tomorrow!
