They're wearing me out
I've been teaching these three-year-olds for a week and a half and I'm worn out. I have a very busy bunch of kids. Trying to get them to all sit on the floor and listen has been a challenge. They are rolling all over the floor, sitting on other kids, hiding under the table. Some days I just don't know what to do. My assistant has been a huge help. I don't get it - why do they listen to her and not me. There have been a few days when I've cried on the drive home. I want to make school an enjoyable and exciting place to be, but I feel like I can't do a lot of things because I'm trying to discipline all day. I've been told that if I just hang in there things will get better. I hope it's soon. They have been getting better since the first day, so there is hope of sunny skies in the forcast.

Last weekend (I know it's a little late)
We have both been so busy with Matt's school and me trying to get my classroom ready that we never wrote about our fun weekend with Corey and Jill.
Saturday morning, Matt and I left Richmond. We called to let Corey know that we were on our way and he changed our plans. They were heading down to IKEA so he told us to meet them there. IKEA was definitely a new experience. It's unlike any department store. You walk through displays and everything has a tag on it. If you want something in a display you write down on your shopping list what it is, and what aisle/bin it's in. They have everything! Anything you could want for your house at a discount price. Once you have everything on your list, you go to the warehouse section and find your items. There was also a restaraunt but we decided to eat somewhere else. We ended up getting a shelf, some wooden organization drawers to go on the shelf, and some spotlights for our paintings. They look very cool now. Matt is still working out the wiring so the lights will turn on from the switch. We loved the whole experience and are planning our next trip back.
Lunch was at Red Robin where we had a good discussion on whether the "chicken burger" should have been called the "chicken sandwich." The waiter didn't really care for us. He gave Corey weak Lemonade and then charged him for two extra drinks when he asked for a Sprite.
On the way to Corey's we decided to stop at Mount Vernon, George Washington's estate. It was pretty cool. We learned lots about George Washington and what went on at the estate. And Corey was sure loving being with Matt and showing his feminine side (he should probably keep that to himself. I don't think Jill wanted to know he had a feminine side). The weirdest thing was Corey didn't have a camera. Have you ever seen him without one? He was really bummed.
We went to Corey's place and started to put together his new dressers. He got them to put his two fish tanks on. The plastic shelving he had them on was buckling under all the weight and was just waiting to fall in. Dinner was at Bertucci's which was a very yummy italian restaraunt.
Sunday, we went to Church at 8:30! It was really early, but it was nice to be done with church at 11:30. We went back to the apartment and finished building the dressers. Matt and Corey moved the fish tanks to their new homes. His room looks a lot better. Jill has really helped him to get more organized (good job Jill). After a light lunch, we went to Great Falls National Park. We watched kayakers, hikers,mountain climbers, and picnicers enjoying the beautiful weather. We got back and enjoyed yummy enchiladas thanks to Jill.
Monday, we decided to catch the Metro to the National Zoo. We got off the train at the Metro Center. The other train was still at the station so we tried to catch it. Corey made it on the train and turned around to see Jill trying to hold the door open. She slipped in, which left Matt and I watching them leave on the train. Corey tried to say something to us but neither of us understood him. We decided that we should probably figure out how we were going to get to the Zoo on our own since our tour guide left us. A woman saw our confused looks and told us which train and stop we were supposed to take. We got on the next train and came to find out that Corey and Jill got off at the next stop in hopes that we would get on the next train. They saw us and got on our car. The pack was back together. We assured them that we could have gotten there on our own. We got to the zoo and found that everyone else in the city had decided to go to the zoo on a holiday too. It was very crowded and none of the animals were doing anything. In one of the pictures, it looks like some driftwood in the water, but that's a seal. When our feet and backs were hurting enough we left the zoo and got some lunch at Chipotle. Man, do they have huge burritos.
And that concluded our weekend with Corey and Jill. We rode back on the Metro (where Corey and Jill caught a little cat nap), drove back to Corey's place and Matt and I hit the road back to Richmond.

Snazzy Scrubbs
Matt finally got his scrubbs for school. They have his name on them and everything. He was pretty excited to get them. He doesn't have to think very hard about his outfit in the mornings. "Should I wear these blue scrubbs or these blue scrubbs?" I like to tease him and call him a smurf. He doesn't think I'm very funny
He also got his clinic jacket (also with his name on it) that he's supposed to wear when he helps in the clinic with the older students.
Mrs. Chapman's Class
I have started to put together my classroom. I am going to be one of the 3 year old classes. I am excited and nervous. It has taken a long time to get the room even semi-organized. All of the furniture was pushed onto the tile so the carpet could be cleaned. My assistant and I have been working really hard this last few days to get the furniture moved along with starting to clean everything. 
Nothing was cleaned before summer, so needless to say things are gross. We are also getting a lot of new supplies because we are a new 3 year old class, so we're not sure what things we are going to be keeping. (We don't want to clean more than we have to) It has been fun getting to know the other teachers in the building. 
There are two more 3 year old classes and three 4 year old teachers along with their assistants. Everyone is really nice and have been very helpful showing me how things are done in Head Start. There is a lot to learn but I'm excited to see the kids.
"A Representation of My Inner Anguish"
Whenever Matt is really stressing before a test he seems to forget to shave his face. He says it is to show his inner anguish. I think it's an excuse to look scruffy. But I do have to say that he does shave more often now that he is in dental school. Once a week was too long.
