a day off
Friday was a PTO day of perfection
a day off for care…
eyes checked.
teeth checked.
a breakfast for the
body & soul…
I moved through the
world like it owed
me more than
comfort, and I
found it.
Friday is a day made
for self-love and
spiritual
realignment.
Saturday will judge
my character.
am I better yet?

dreaded routine
making moves
toward passion and
fulfillment for work…
it’s fearful and
challenging, but I
know my heart will
be healthier and
happier away from
the robotic
everydayness my life
has become.
to give my gifts to
willing users for
growth inspires me
to seek literary
comfort among
young minds again.
it’s my home away
from home and
miles away from the
dreaded routine of
grinding to line the
hefty pockets of
groany men who
don’t even know my
name.

sufferer
before I can relieve
myself of last night’s
dinner, three sneezes
escape.
burdened by late Spring’s
presence, I dread the
outside world.
I can smell the
pollen’s attack–waiting
for my changing body
to greet the air.
it will not be a
great day for breathing.
Breaking Before I Break
I’ll return soon.

I’ve not been feeling like myself of late—I wish I could verbalize the issue or pinpoint the problem, but I just don’t have any “Get up and Go” in me outside of work. I intend to conserve my mental energy as much as I can. I’ll return to my regular blogging and creative activities on Saturday, May 09, 2026.
I hope all of you enjoy the rest of this week. Take good care of yourselves.
Peace and blessings.

I remember when I got my first contract payment. You sign your bonus, one-point-something and you’re like, ‘ sweet.’ Then you get it and you’re like, huh? Still it’s $600,000, $700,000 straight out of college. You definitely shouldn’t be complaining. ©Jordy Nelson
