So I gave up. Or rather, depression snuck up on me yet again and I suddenly realized that I had not done nearly enough to hand in my BA on the 6th, so I will have to have a Serious Talk with the secretaries at the department and with my doctor, yet again. This really is getting old.

But New Year's was fab and I am going to see a dear friend again at some point within the next two weeks, and I have fallen in love all over again with the awesomeness that is LoTR fandom, so it isn't all bad. I have also committed icons and found an old fic or two that I kind of want to show the world, as well as some meta forming in my head. Oh, and I am looking very much forward to seeing Flash Forward on Danish television soon, just because I have seen that clip where Dominic Monaghan's character seduces a woman with quantum physics and I love seeing him playing a character like that.

Now I'm off to make pancakes in the middle of the night, because I can!

So I am trying to write my BA paper and have a 48 hour exam tomorrow, which means I am stressed out. Which also means that this:

THE GREAT LORD OF THE RINGS SPAM POST

pretty much came my way at just the right time. Not for my productivity, of course, but it sure does make me happy. Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] zooz! Any other fans on the flist, now is the time to reminisce!

Will update and comment more when I am on the other side of the BA.

I am watching a play on DR1, "Martas tema" written by Nicoline Werdelin. It is so fantastic. I can't say everything I want to say without giving away spoilers, but it is set both in the present day and in 1873, and it says so much about misogyny, sexism, classism, homophobia and life. You guys in Denmark, be sure to catch any reruns of it.

Real life stuff: I have recently begun my minor subject in History, and so far it seems positively awesome in a fantastically nerdy way. I am fully off the antidepressants, and doing fine in spite of the eternal lack of money (this month due to course books and licence fee). Well, my relationship with my mother has gone down the toilet due to her own issues, but other than that? Fine. Will have to start deciding on a Bachelor project soon, though. And politically, I feel like I am becoming more tired and jaded every day, meh.

I still don't have a new computer, so I am copying&pasting punctuation right now and using html for the rest. Just a short update because life is good. Oh, and fandom? Is awesome and full of brilliant people. SurveyFail triggered one of the best smackdowns I have ever seen. I love this place!

I am gradually losing hope that one day, I might actually go to a social event and get food like everyone else, instead of bread that tastes like sausage with a side order of verbal abuse if I complain

I hate being a vegetarian in bloody Denmark

I am never going to watch anything RTD makes ever again

Exam tomorrow! Yay! To celebrate, have some links:

First of all, if you have any invite codes to spare, there are tons of people in need over at [site community profile] dw_codesharing. I will use my spare codes there, because I really want to see this project take off. :)

Next off, this is an essay that has been sitting in an open tab for a long time, gnawing at my mind. I feel like I should make everyone I know read it, even if it's painful. I cried the first time I read it, and was pretty shaken for the rest of the day.

Excerpt, cut for possible triggers )

Go read The Not Rape Epidemic. Major trigger warning.

Now, two NCIS recs:

Everyone You Know by Sequitur (Gen, McGee and DiNozzo, set after the Grenouille arc - beware the spoilers!)
“How long was Special Agent DiNozzo undercover?” She said, McGee said, the caption said, “Six months.”

Ten Nonlinear Moves by Sequitur (Gen, Team, set during the Hiatus)
The motto is not always WWGD.

I swear I have read tons and tons of stories but meh, I'm picky. Those two are my favourites so far. I might rec some porn in a few days, when my exams are done and my post-exam celebration hangovers are gone. :-)

My impression of Dreamwidth so far is that it's wonderful. Yeah, it's a bit quiet right now and there aren't that many people, but I love that it's so obviously been made by people who actually use journals. Just a thing like the format=light link in the navigation bar makes me squee.

I hope this catches on and that at some point, my LJ will become redundant.

I'm crossposting this to LJ, if anyone there wants an invite, just let me know.

In other news, NCIS is taking over my life. I'm a bit behind, due to Danish television, but I've managed so far. It's just a wonderful show with so many lovable characters. Especially Abby. She's who I'd be if I was anywhere near cool enough.

Also, this makes Gibbs officially the oldest person I've ever shipped. He's older than my mother. But the chemistry between him and Tony is just delicious; the way Tony tries so hard to please him and gain his respect, while still managing not to copy him. Oh man, I could go on for hours.

Oh, and I'm falling ever more in love with Japanese and Korean dramas, specifically Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend) and Boys Over Flowers. There's something so innocent about the way they portray romance, and they have some kick-ass female protagonists. Especially Jan Di in Boys Over Flowers, who can do a wicked flying kick when provoked and will not stand for any kind of bullying or injustice.

Well, that ends my squee for today. Happy belated May Day, everyone!

In case you don't know, I'm [livejournal.com profile] phoenixwish. Finally a chance to escape that name. :-)

And, uh, I'll be keeping this journal mostly fannish and possibly political. No RL stuff if I can help it.

Uhm. Yeah. So that's the test post, over and done with.
