And at the end ~ the dentist's chair.
[Scraggy soundtrack with throbbing drums begins to play here.]
Walking. Humming. An exchange of nervous smiles with the people in the waiting room. Checking in at the desk. "I'm here for my appointment with Dr. Pain." Sitting against the wall, I notice the flaking paint, and wait until I hear my name.

Well I trust he didn't have to pronounce your blogonym. Zu schwer, zu schwer, he would have protested, reaching for his pincers. I trust you were sustained by the thought of 250 cl of Old Obsidian.
RE Hast Du meinen letzen Kommentar bei Dir bekommen? Wenn nicht , sag mir bitte und ich werde es nochmal schicken. Du hast auch gutes Bier getrunken!
neh, bitte nochmals schicken, ich hatte temporary problems i think...
Und dieses Zahnarzthaus, was ist DAS! sieht wie amtsgericht Jena, du bist sehr vertrauensvoll
Beth
Odd. I was just at the dentist's this morning! No problems, just preparing to have an ancient filling replaced. Hope nothing too serious for you, this sure looks like a hospital hallway.
A scene from a Hitchcock film!
Ah BB, you know me well. I was lying in the chair wondering whether the Novocain would spoil the taste of my after-work ale. In the end, I developed a rollicking headache and opted for a cup of green tea. Poor Rouchswalwe!
Beth! ich schicke Dir den Kommentar nochmal Morgen früh, ja?! Das Zahnarzthaus ist furchtbar aber billig ~ also gehe dorthin. Since the bill is really the most painful part of the visit, I'm willing to risk cheap for now.
Marja-Leena! Good to hear your visit was run-of-mill. I thought I'd possibly cracked a chunk from one of my molars, but she was able to simply file it down. Bad news is that she discovered a "moderate" cavity in the molar next door. My first in ages! So I'm scheduled to walk down the dreaded passageway again in 2 weeks. Drats!
Hhnb! Isn't it though?! I think it each time I go and on impulse, pulled out my camera this time. Who knows what the folks in the waiting room were thinking.
Oh what a horrible place to wait, it couldn't be more baleful could it? Really sinister.
Hot drinks are best to help the aftermath. Bad luck about the cavity, McCavity!
Baleful is a good word to describe it. A little color would help so much. I sat there thinking how awful it must be to work in that place and be confronted with the sight on a daily basis.
