Sketch again!!

Journaling Card Tips

Journaling cards are really fun to use on layout / card or even on altered projects!

Whenever I see journaling cards, I enjoy cutting the images out of them and this time round I also arranged the pieces to make them part of the background. 

You can also use journaling cards to embellish a card.

A new sketch for you, from Sketchabilities.

Hi this is Bente!

I thought I would share a great sketch with you today, and the layout I made with it.

I was chosen a couple of weeks ago to be guest designer for the current sketch # 48 @ Sketchabilities. It is a sketch site run by Karan Gerber that has beautiful sketches and even keep an archive so you can go back and search for what takes your fancy!

I used patterned papers from the "Basic Grey" collection "Hello Luscious".

I chose a yellow and green scheme to make something that would look a little out of the ordinary. The collection has a great variety of beautiful colours. The green trim is also from the store, as well as the "Jillibean Soup" letter sticker sheet that I used.

This is the sketch. I think you can see the similarities.

I just love the little die cut shapes for photo mats.

My page is about how happy my daughter was when we visited my sister and Beatrice could say hello to her four horses.To her it was it was a little bit like heaven!!

I made a small collage so you can see some close ups too.

Using themed papers for non-themed layouts...

Sometimes when I see themed papers, I tend to overlook them and pass them by if I don't have particular photos that fit that theme. But if you look more carefully, you can sometimes find that the "b" sides of the papers have patterns and colors that will work just fine for your everyday layouts.

For example, I worked with the We R Memory Keepers Valentine's Day line to create this non-Valentines page. I loved the combination of colors in these papers, and used mostly the B-sides for the page.

Of course I DID have some Valentine's Day photos to scrap, too, so I used these papers for this page, too!

I love how these pages are so totally different, yet they came from the same line! Check out the We R Memory Keepers in the store!

Friday Sketch

Here is a sketch that I whipped up for you for this Friday!!!! Generally, I hand draw my sketches first, then do my page, then go back and make a digital sketch. Sometimes they are all exactly the same, and sometimes there are some variations from one to the next!

You could adjust this sketch to fit your photos by using two or three smaller photos instead of one big one.

I used some of the new Fancy Pants "It's the Little Things" collection for this page. I just LOVE the colors in this line. There are some awesome flocked transparencies that go with these papers, which you can see on my page (the crosshatched dots).

New Echo Park : For The Record

Hi this is Bente!

I received so many lovely items in my latest kit from Erica. The store is overflowing with gorgeous *must-haves*.One of the collections was the new Echo Park called 'For the Record'.
Beautiful saturated colours and pretty stickersheets. I'll include some pictures of parts of the collection after my layout in this post.

Ok, this is my first lo I created with the kit. I have posted more close ups on my blog if you would like to see them.. You can use the link in the sidebar.

I started with distressing all the edges, then painted some of them and finally used my sewing machine to add some more interest to the project.

The photo is of our boots and how girly they are.

I pleated a piece of green cardstock just randomly and added that below the photo.

at of course you do not need a tutorial, but still, I made one.

I even used bakers twine here. That is a design element tha

t can be seen on many pages right now, a real fashion item! Erica has got lots of lovely colours in the store. They come on pretty little spools, and now you even get more on each spool, I think 3 yards actually !

Friday Sketch

Hi everyone! Audrey here with a fun and quick sketch for you for the weekend!

For February, I created my own "kit" of stuff from the YSS store, and I just LOVE all the bright colors! This page is my first creation with my kit!

Toilet roll album Valentine themed.

Hi this is Bente.

Today I want to share a little project I prepared using something as mundane as empty toilet rolls.
I know we all have them, and instead of just throwing them away I decided to try something fun with them!

As you can see from the photos below it is very easy.

I just pressed down on the roll to flatten it.

I cut enough pieces of pp to cover the number of rolls I would use.

I stapled a couple of times to close the bottom, and glued the papers to the roll.

Then for the best part; the decorating.

For this project I used my January DT-kit. Most of what you see is Basic Gray Marjolaine.
The papers have lovely colours and I used a large part of the sticker sheet too on this.

I know I had a lot of fun decorating these.
Please see these as examples of what can be done.

The pictures following will show front and back of the six pockets I made.

I may decide to write some more on the covers but this will do for now.

















This is a close up to show the finished pocket , and the size of it.

I made photo inserts to go inside the pockets.

The size of these are 6cmX8cm. Some I have matted on a piece of pp and others I glued together back to back.
Between the layers I glued a short piece of ribbon so the cards can be pulled out easily.

Here you can se front and back. The cards without photo on back i plan to use for journaling.

I really enjoyed this easy project and plan to give a few as Valentines gifts to members of my family.

Hi this is Bente.

I love to work with the papers from October Afternoon.

Now that all the new collections are on their way I wanted to share a couple of layouts I made recently with patterned paper from their previous collections. This time I did not want to use too many embellishments, I just wanted to let the beautiful papers shine.
The good thing is that you can find almost all of it in the store marked down by 25 percent.
That can not be a bad thing!

The half circles around the curve that almost make the design look like a flower are the banners cut out from patterned paper from the Seaside collection.

There is a great variety of these papers to choose from in the shop. And remember they are on sale at the moment!

Here is another example of what you can do. The blue ledger-paper and the black are the same paper only different sides of it. I actually used only one sheet because after cutting out the middle I had the frame left over and I cut it down to size to back the blue and give it some contrast.

In this photo my daughter is taking a picture of the potatoes we just dug up. We had cultivated them mostly for educational purposes and she was very proud of herself.

She took a photograph with her cellphone that she sent to her father who was out of town.
