Festive Sequence from Brilliantine

Yesterday on Christmas Eve we posted a Tracasseur classic in Pelifics' "Something Special". We've posted that track every Christmas for a couple of years now. But late last night we got a Twitter shout from Pelifics telling us that he now got a new version of the track included on Brilliantine's "Festive Sequence 2012".

So, therefore we today post the track again, remastered and as a better version along with the rest of the tracks included on "Festive Sequence 2012". Two of the tracks are more into the holiday mood and the other two are more like Christmas gifts that you can use the rest of the year. Enjoy a holiday gift from our friends over at Brilliantine. Britney Spears remixes Friday

So I posted that Britney Spears remix as a bonus in the last post because I know you guys have been longing for more B-rit here on Tracasseur. Which also is the reason why I declared this Friday "Britney Spears remixes Friday" when tweeting the last post.

Actually, that's half true. Being in a DJ duo with Jonny sometimes makes us quarrelling like a married couple.  One thing we argue about is whether it's ok to play Britney remixes. Me, being slightly more ironic and slightly less self-concious, love seeing hipsters dancing to a track and then freeze for a second when the lovely (?) voice of Ms Spears start streaming from the speakers.

Irony being one thing, I also truly believe that crap music is always better than no music, and that all music has a point if you just put it in the right perspective. Listening to techno and drum-n-bass in the mid 90s the music I hated the most was Eurodisco like Corona or Hadaway. After listening through all the Italo disco of the 80s, and adding the emerging techno scene of the early 90s, the music that I hated back then gets a romantic shimmer over it, and all of a sudden starts to make sense. So, hipsters beware; whatever you hate right now, you might love ten years away from now with equal parts irony and nostalgia.

Well, that was the long version. Actually, the simple reason why I write this post is to share one of my current faves; Pelifics bootleg of "Till the World Ends" that I rediscovered like a week ago.

A Christmas tradition with Tracasseur and Pelifics, a little as "Last Christmas" gets a lot of more attention during Christmas time every year. This is Pelifics way of saying Merry X-mas to all readers of Tracasseur.

Ok, I need to get some blogging done. The end of the university semester and the World Cup has affected my work-rate adversely (not to mention what six hours of vuvuzelas per day does to my creativity).

First thing I'll share is Swedish producer Fredrick Carlsson's new single "House" that was released on June 6. Fredrick is from Gothenburg, and his music is a mixture of pop, synth and techno and there's something very Swedish in his sound, especially in this track. I don't know what it is, but there's a melancholic feeling that makes me think of other great Swedish electro bands like Lo-Fi-Fnk or The Embassy. That melancholy might come from Swedish electro's close ties with indie pop or influences from old school British synth music. Or it may be a cry from our ancestors with their lonely lives in the middle of some vast pine forrest. I don't know.

One who doesn't have a background in indie music is Neon Workout, who have a background as a big bitpop and chiptune star turned italo disco afficionado. He revamped the track into a purposely crude, early 90s house-flavoured banger. Another longtime Tracasseur favourite and friend, Norwegian Pelifics, chose to turn it into a soft dreamwave track.

It was a while ago our friends over at Girlfriend Records released their first EP. Today they released their second, and even if I think three months are too long to have to wait for the third, I know it will be worth it since Girlfriend really show that good things come to those who wait. The second artist to be released is none other than the Pope of French electro; Avignon-based Illapa.

First up is one of our favourite Norwegians, Pelifics, who just finished this remix of Truly Beautiful Disaster, which is a dreamy piece of synthpop.

Next up, Build has made yet another awesome remix. Here's some hot disco stuff for you! First up, I know you're tired to death of all those Norwegian remixes of Thai electro pop tracks, but Pelifics' remix of Cindy Seui's "All It Takes" is definitely worth a listen. Pelifics always produces top notch nu italo (check out his Astrolabe remix) and Cindy Seui makes music somewhere in between funky disco, synth house and electro pop. I'm pretty sure we'll have reasons to get back to both of them.

Next up is a new track from Canadians Le Matos, who we have posted about before. This one is an up-tempo nu italo or French touch track, but still much more mellow than the more techno-y "Quiet Earth" for example.

Lastly, (yet) another remix from Fred Falke. This time of Aussie's Sneaky Sound System and their "I Love It", which originally was released in 2006 with remixes from Bag Raiders and Calling In Sick. This remix was made for the 2009 British re-release though, which dropped last month, so it's not brand new.

Last week was crazy...it started off at a fashion party at Café Opera. Free booze and robotlike models walking around the place...but hey, the music sucked! I mean, 2 Unlimited, Dr. Alban (he made som nice tracks), Haddaway, Snap, Ace of Base.... That music can be fun if you're really drunk and not for more than 3o minutes! But hour after hour.... and oh yes, Pandora played live. Don't look her music up, it sucks trust me. Well that was Wednesday.


Thursday was the day Jonny Puma had an AMORE party to celebrate Valentines day at his design agency inside an old bank from the early 20's. Probably one of the best locations in Stockholm to have a party at. We were five Dj:s playing inside an old bank vault. Thats what I call a great place to Dj in. Did I mention there was free booze all night, a handreader and a burlesque stripper!
