Farewell Summer 2017

Since tomorrow is the Autumn Equinox aka the beginning of fall, I thought that I'd share a couple of photos. These are the last of the summer roses in our garden. This rose bush blooms every year, but this year they especially "rose" to the occasion. To me they are a reminder that despite the hard things in life, there is still beauty around us every single day.

The Unofficial Beginning of Summer

Happy Weekend!!!

It's the three day bank holiday weekend here and it's Memorial Day weekend back home in the US, so we've finally arrived at the unofficial beginning of summer even though the official start of summer is in June. But hey, official...unofficial...it all works for me. Lol. I'm just glad to see warmer days and we're actually having some warm, sunny days here in Wiltshire right now, with not a rainy cloud in sight. Woo Hoo! ;-) I don't know how long the sunshine will last, but I'm gonna soak in the warmth and the good vibes to the fullest while I can :-)

Have an amazing weekend wherever you are, whether it's an extended weekend or not. Enjoy!!

Morning Sunshine

I shared this picture on Instagram this morning and I thought that I may as well share it here too. I took this early this morning as the sun was rising and flooding diagonally into the kitchen window. The sunlight made the roses glow. These are from our backyard and are probably the last few for this year, so they're even more precious to me.

Have a great day and week wherever you are!

Happy August

It's a bit rainy today, here in my corner of Wiltshire. It feels more like early autumn right now, instead of the first day of August, but I'm okay with it. I have no choice, right? ;-) Usually by this time of the year I'm wearing a sweater and wishing that we'd have had at least a bit of warm during the earlier days of summer. Well this year has been different. We actually had some really warm...downright hot weather during July, so I'm satisfied...a bit of proper summer like my hubby would say :) So it's all good.

I took the photo above this morning. I love how the spiderwebs in the trees hold the raindrops and they're suspended in the act of dropping from the sky. I love nature's gentle, simple beauty.

Have a wonderful day wherever you are!
Happy August!

A Hot Summer Day

Today is the hottest day of the year so far here in the UK and I'm REJOICING!!!!

Listen, okay...it's causing me to sweat a lot, but I'm so HAPPY because this is such a rarity where I live here in the UK :)  I come from a place where hot summer days are a sure thing and often you're usually chasing a cool spot. Lol. It can be hot as heck back home!!! The summers are hot and yes there are cold winters there too. However, I'm a summer person so I love the warmth even when it's really hot, because my bones don't hurt so much when it's sunny and anyway that's what they make popsicles and fans for ;-)

Coming from a hot place, I must admit that I took the warmth for granted. But after over a decade on this side of the pond, I truly appreciate a hot summer day like I never thought that I would :)

So today as I sweat it out a bit, get my water intake up, and see my skin glisten, I'll be rejoicing about all of this warmth and sunshine and these beautiful blue skies!!!

Warm summer weather looks good on you UK!! :)

Chilly June

This is a short observational post. Okay...it's June right? So why is it so cold? Lol. I'm hoping that my little corner of Wiltshire will warm up for a while soon. Thankfully it was a bit warmer yesterday and there was a good bit of sun later in the day. Therefore, I'm holding onto the hope that a warm summer is around the corner :-)

And it's not just me, my other half is cold too and he's from here so it's not just my Georgia DNA getting the best of me. Lol. I've acclimated a lot, but I'm still not good buddies with the chill all the time  ;-)

It's sunny out there now, so I hope that just grows as the day goes on. While I'm waiting for a little bit of a heatwave I'll just keep my blanket and a warm beverage nearby ;-) Lol!

I hope that it's warm wherever you are! Have a wonderful day :-)

A Friday Photo and Dreaming of Warmer Days

Hello :-)

Today's Friday photo is from July 2013 and as you can see it's a colorful butterfly hanging out on a sunny day. Since I posted a photo yesterday showing those optimistic daffodils trying to pop out, I decided to continue with that theme. Even though it's still cold here, especially too cold for my southern blood...Lol...and it's truly freezing back home and all along the east coast of the United States, I'm gonna think warm thoughts! ;-) I know we shouldn't rush time because time is precious, but it's still fun to dream of those warmer days ahead.

So here's to dreaming of warmer days, sunshine, and beautiful butterflies that decide to pay us a visit!

Happy Friday and have a great weekend! :-)

Happy Weekend

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend!

I do love summer weekends. If the weather's good, I usually get out and enjoy the sun while I can. This summer we seem to be having much more of a warm summer than we've had the past few years so this is great! The weather people here are predicting a heatwave of sorts this weekend and I say...

BRING IT ON!!!

It won't be a scorcher, but it'll be hot for England and I'm so ready. And I know that some of you reading this are having scorching hot summers and just want things to cool off. I totally understand. I really do. I remember my Georgia summers. So I'm hoping that you get a cooling breeze wherever  you may be. But when you hardly ever get sunny weather like this, you just really relish it when it comes :-)

For the past few summers we've had downright autumnal weather some days, so I'm relishing the chance to wear shorts and sandals while I can :-)

So in celebration of the sun and all things summer, here's a pic that I took at the beach in Bournemouth a few weeks ago.

P.S. - In addition to enjoying the warmer weather, I'll be working on my book. I'll share more about this next week :-)

Pictures From My Week

Today I'd like to share a couple of photos that I took this week. They're just random shots that I took on my phone but they have been a good part of my week.

This is what I saw yesterday morning...a beautiful blue sky and some lovely slowly fading roses. The blue sky is always welcome and it reminds me that summer is finally here in this corner of England. Yay! As for the roses, I've taken pictures of them many times over the years and every year they seem to be a little different. I guess that they are in actuality because each rose is unique and the roses aren't reincarnated ;-) They smell wonderful and they remind me of back home. We had white, deep pink (almost red) and light pink roses in our front yard. The smell of roses always takes me back to being a little girl in our front yard in the summertime :-)

The picture below shows what I'm currently reading. It's The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith, aka J K Rowling under another name. It's about 550 pages long and I'm roughly 200 pages in. I like it and I'm not usually a crime fiction reader. I don't know when I'll finish since I'm a preoccupied reader sometimes. Lol. I love reading very much, but I can get distracted sometimes. Once I finish though, I'll write up my thoughts on the book and share them here.

So there you have it...a look into my week.

I hope that everyone has a great weekend. Have fun! :-)
