FreeDevelopers.net
A company of free developers
by free developers, for a free world

FreeDevelopers is a democratic entity for the development of free software. The free company, probably the first of its kind in the world, will be owned and run by developers worldwide on a democratic basis in a sacred trust for the benefit and protection of the world's citizens. It will pay all developers to work on free software, and all developers will receive company shares and stock options, also. All software of the free company will be licensed under the General Public License (GPL) and remain free/open forever, because all software must be available to all current and future generations of developers, so that they can be the first line of defense to protect the world from the inevitably tyrannical tendencies of proprietary software.

Basic Principles

Our basic principles:
  1. All our code must be free and GPL'd. That requirement is fundamental and as such will be in the corporate constitution.
  2. Our company will be a democracy modeled on the US Constitution's system of checks and balances of power.
  3. Developers all over the world will be paid the same world price to develop free software, payable as salaries and/or stock options, regardless of where they are from.
  4. We will takeover proprietary companies to free their developers and their code, when appropriate.

Basis for the Company

Our basic idea is that we will replace the traditional corporate governance apparatus (which is more a command-and-control, tyrannical system) with one that is more like the democratic governance system envisioned in the U.S. Constitution. Thereby, analogizing the lessons learned in political democracy to what we call commercial democracy, the company will have something like a rotating CEO/President, but one with significant accountability to a congress of developers, which itself will be elected by the world developers.

We will also have a panel of experts appointed by the congress to adjudicate any conflicts.

 We need your help.
