Broken Social Scene Break Hiatus

Broken Social Scene to go on indefinite hiatus

It sounds like one of Toronto's best-loved indie outfits might make good on its name after Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew told Pitchfork that the group is taking an indefinite hiatus when it finishes its current tour in support of Forgiveness Rock Record. Formed in 1999, the various core members of the band want to spend more time on individual projects.

It's certainly not the first time BSS has toyed with calling it quits, but Drew's latest comments won't be particularly encouraging for fans of the band. "How many times have I said "last show"? I've taken "boy cries wolf" to the next level," he remarked in an interview with the website. "I think we've really gone as far as we can with playing these tunes. It comes down to Kenny Rogers: 'You got to know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.'"

On the flip side, the frontman also left the door open for a possible return. "With a family, you can't ever say that it's over," he said of the future. What do you think? Will BSS be back making new material in the next couple of years, or is this the real thing?
