Happy Anniversary

I've been so busy with school that I have really lagged on my online journal. One of the biggest thing that happened this last month is my anniversary.

(how do you like those shoulder pads)
It was such a romantic proposal. Dave set up everything perfect and I had no idea that this was the night that would change my life. He told me to wear a dress because we were going to have a nice night. We had a private dining room in a Scottsdale restaurant with candelabra, shrimp appetizers, fillet minon, lots of atmosphere. He had given me a dozen long stemmed roses and everything was perfect! He set everything up with our waiter for dessert whatever I ordered he would bring out a cake that he had purchased that had a horse and carriage next to a pond and written on the pond was, "Will you marry me"? Of course I agreed! Later we went on a gondola ride and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night!
Our first year we traveled all over the country. Dave worked for the airlines so we would often go to San Fransisco for lunch at fisherman wharf or to Utah to visit friends and family. Here we are in Washington DC.
(like the cinched braided belt? I was a fashion statement to behold)
Our 6 month anniversary was spent in Hawaii. This is at a Luau where Dave was brought up on stage and danced in a grass skirt and coconuts. ;o)

18 years is so amazing! I love Dave so much more than I ever thought possible.
Love after 18 years feels different than new love. Love after 18 years is deep and comfortable.

I love you today
more than from the start,
And I'll love you forever
With all of my heart.

Whooo Hooo!!!

I don't think that bragging is very cool but seriously I can't resist the temptation. As many of you know I have recently gone back to school. Going back to school after sooo many years of being out of it was a bit terrifying and I was scared that I would fail. Well I have been doing really good. In fact I just took a Biology quiz on Wed. and I got 85 of 100. Mind you this teacher considers an A as you know the information well enough to teach it and the average for the class was 62.9. I am getting an A+ in Psychology and a B in math. Whoo hoo!!! I feel like I can do anything. Well okay that is going to far. I am now done with my bragging session, thanks for bearing with me and not judging me to harshly. : )

Pretty, Pretty Princess

Isabel got this game for her birthday. It is a very fun and quick little game. Saturday morning I got to sleep in a little and woke up to a sight I shall NEVER forget. I only wish I had my camera ready to capture my sweet husband with dangle earrings, a crown, a necklace and a ring on. Yes, you guessed it, he Won! Isabel was having such a good time playing this game with her Daddy that she didn't even mind losing to him. He is such a good Daddy. I couldn't ask for anything better than this memory!

Outback was so good to hire me because I very honest about my time commitments and they were willing to work with me, I am only going to be scheduled 1 week night and 1 weekend night. Is there anything closer to heaven?

Isabel has been learning to write and is always asking how to write all our names and is starting to understand that all these letters make words and she want to write them all. Today in church I forgot to bring the church bag that has all kinds of goodies for my little 4 year old to do in Sacrament to keep her quiet. So to keep her entertained today I gave her the program and on the front of it is a wonderful picture of Christ. Isabel leaned over to her sister and asked, "how do you write, Jesus I love you"?
The writing on top is her sister showing her how and the writing and below it is her copy.

Is there anything closer to heaven than a little child?

Seriously?!!?

No joke this is for real! Very clever gal. I am gonna have to stock up on wee wee teepee's for all my gal pals that have boys so they don't get a pee shower. I don't know though its almost a motherhood initiation/right of passage thing into true motherhood to have a pee shower.

lesson learned

As hard as I try to be a good and loving person I still occasionally slip up and make mistakes. As luck would have it I always get caught. I said something that I should not have and it reared it ugly head back at me.

What I learned is:
Even though you are trying your best not to gossip... sometimes you are.
Even though you are not saying in the spirit of gossip... you are still gossiping.
Passing along anything that is negative about another human being is gossip.
The dictionary definition:
idle talk or rumor, esp. about the personal or private affairs of others
I find it interesting that the definition doesn't talk about malice or intent.
Even if you have good intentions if you are talking about the personal or private affairs of others... you are gossiping.
Even if you are just venting to a friend... you are gossiping.
Even if we call it something else like chit chat, venting, small talk... you are still gossiping. A rose by any other name is still a rose.
Here's a quote that I found interesting:
Gossip needn't be false to be evil - there's a lot of truth that shouldn't be passed around. ~Frank A. Clark

Words to live by!
I resolve to speak ill of no man whatever, not even in a matter of truth; but rather by some means excuse the faults I hear charged upon others, and upon proper occasions speak all the good I know of everybody. ~Benjamin Franklin

Answer to prayer.

My first week of school had its ups and its downs. I was on my knees a little more than my usual times asking for help. It has been a long time since I used my brain like that. I have studied things and thought long and hard about things but to spend several hours every day reading and studying is altogether different. I was seriously hurting my brain last week. I didn't feel like any of it was sinking in and I was beginning to feel really discouraged. I started praying before I studied and that really helped. I also started praying that I would be able to learn to learn more efficiently so I could be more productive. Well Sunday I had a major ah ha moment. While Brother Krumenaker was speaking he made several references to the Book of Mormon and I had this distinct thought come into my mind that said, "If you read the Book of Mormon you will be able to learn better." I remembered hearing a promise or quote back when I was in high school to that effect and it pierced me to the soul as truth then and now. So I am taking this on as a personal challenge to read the Book of Mormon this Semester before Christmas. Wish me luck. Let me know if you would like to join in on my challenge. I can't think of a better Christmas present to me and my Saviour than to finish reading His book just before we celebrate His birth and life.
