4-wheeling

Memorial weekend, Gerry's dad rented a SUV to go down to the Canyonlands to go 4-wheeling. I am not sure the SUV was meant to go 4-wheeling...but they took out good insurance on it and had a blast. They drove down Friday night just Ed, Clark, Gerry and Zach. Then spent all Saturday 4-wheeling. Gerry said at times it was quite scary because the road was so rocky, steep and on the edge of a cliff...that means it was really quite dangerous and I probably wouldn't have lasted! But they returned safe and happy! Gerry and Zach had a great time 4-wheeling and of course spending time with Grandpa and Clark!

What was I thinking?? **Not a Rivalry post!!**

First off this has NOTHING to do with BYU/UTAH rivalry. Yes Gerry is a big huge BYU fan and I became a fan supporter when we got married. But I do not get into the rivalry because I think some people can be mean...and I like to consider myself a nice person. And we do have family and friends who go for the Utes. So this is just a funny story I thought I would share as I sit here waiting for Gerry to get home from young men's meeting so I can go meet up w/ the gals to go see TWILIGHT. And with the BIG game coming up this weekend...it's kind of appropriate! :) Well maybe!

So I was born and raised in Utah. I lived there 26 years. And when I moved out to CA, I have to admit I was homesick...and maybe a tinge small part of me still is. Okay maybe more. Well we had just moved here to CA, and we went one Saturday out to the beach to play. When we were setting up our umbrella, towel, etc...Gerry noticed this guy wearing a blue hat with a big white Y on it. I was so excited to see someone from "home". I couldn't contain myself. I know I totally embarrass Gerry, but I said oh I have to ask! Gerry said NO! So I was enjoying the beach and happened to be by the wife/female of the guy with the hat...funny how that worked out! and so I said "Are you guys from Utah?" With a big smile! I honestly was so giddy and happy to see someone from "home". WEll I didn't receive the same smile I produced! I just got this funny look back. I then said "I mean I just thought with your husband wearing a BYU hat...you might be from UT!" Then I got the most disgusted look back and the snottiest voice ever, "Oh NO, that is for YALE!" Of course I should have known. What was I thinking? I just replied..."OH!" and hurried back to Gerry. I was dying laughing at what a fool I made of myself. Gerry I think was completely embarrassed at his wife whom can not keep her mouth shut! However I know we both got a great laugh out of that....and I still laugh when I think about what a complete idiot I looked like! But hey I am proud to be from UTAH! I love my "home"! But until that time comes when it is no longer a 12 hour with kids drive to "home" ...we will enjoy the sunny weather, beaches, and call this "home for now!" Hope you enjoy the BYU/UTAH game...whatever the outcome may be. I have to say I hope ...hope for BYU to pull it off...it would make a very happy husband and weekend!! Go BYU!!

Catch up!

While we were gone on our fun 3 week trip to Utah, a few special days were missed. So I thought I would briefly say:

Happy Birthday to my Dad! (July 20th) The best dad out there...I am a bit bias. Thanks for being such a great dad, grandpa, and friend. We love you!

and...

HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY TO MY SWEETHEART GERRY! (July 22nd) I can't believe it's been 5 years since we tied the knot! You are the greatest husband. I couldn't ask for a better partner. Thanks for all you do! I love you! (and yes I was in Utah while Gerry was in Cali...but we had celebrated in Hawaii back in May!...I am not that rude!)

(And excuse the crappy wedding photo's...I don't have a scanner, that means picture of a picture...not so good!)

And then last but not least...
Happy BIRTHday to my brand new niece, baby Anna! (Aug. 9th) Perfect time to come into the world...right when we were in Utah to see you! You are beautiful and perfect. What a sweet addition to the Lind family! We love you!

He's Back!

It's been all PLAY no work for Gerry since Wednesday night! Gerry's friends Derek, Mike, and Ryan flew in from Salt Lake and stayed with us until Saturday. Ryan was a new addition to the group and was a really nice guy. Gerry enjoyed getting to know him and had lots of fun! They hit 3 different golf courses and golfed 37 holes Thursday, 18 holes Friday and 16 holes Saturday! WOW! They were sunburned! Then they stayed up all night playing Risk! It was great fun! Gerry had a great time! And of course it was fun for me to see his friends the little bit they were here! I am glad the weather was super nice this time. Last year they came it rained out of control! As fun as Gerry had I am happy to have him back!! I think Gerry felt bad leaving me with the kids, so he took us to my favorite restaurant and hit the mall for shopping and no complaining! :) Sweetheart! However I do believe I am ready for a GIRLS trip! :) So let's get planning!!

My Valentine!

WHY am I so lucky...or better yet, BLESSED! I have been so blessed with the greatest husband who trys so hard to make everything perfect. Since we live 12 hours (driving with kids) from family who would normally babysit, and no young women in the ward. We are babysitterless! The worst for a romantic Valentine's date! But Gerry did everything to make our Valentine's perfect. Throughout the entire day he made sure to let me know how loved I am. He started early with a surprise gift, and just even the sweet text messages were so nice! What a sweet guy. For our date we ordered take out from a yummy BBQ and Grill. Yummy. and Gerry was so sweet to get the kids bathed and to bed early. I just wanted to thank Gerry for being such a thoughtful sweet husband. Valentine's or just any regular day....you will always be mine! I love you Gerry! Becca
*side note: this pic was not taken last night! I am skinnier now! :) HAHA...joking!

Gerry's New Calling!

Okay so I have to share my funny story. Well at least I was laughing inside. At church on Sunday, one of the counselors in the bishopric stopped Gerry in the hall and said he needed to talk to him. We have been expecting to get callings, so it was no surprise. I then went to relief society and the other counselor in the bishopric came in to announce that they have now called someone to the ward Liberian. I almost started laughing out loud. Not that Gerry wouldn't make a GREAT Liberian. I just can't picture him handing out chalk. (I hope I am not offending any liberians, I think it's great, just a funny thought of Gerry being one!) And maybe this isn't funny to anyone but me. I don't know why but I am still laughing about it! Well then about 5 mins later the counselor that originally stopped Gerry in the hall, grabbed me out of relief society and talked with me and Gerry and asked if I would support Gerry in his new calling....a counselor in the young men's! Not the Liberian, but the young men's. I am excited for Gerry and his new calling. I think he will be so wonderful with the young men! I guess there is only about 14 young men. Our ward actually is really small. The ward covers 1 and 1/2 cities and still there is hardly enough members to hold all the callings. The ward we last moved from was quite large, and at 1st coming from Utah it felt small to me, but now I realize how big it was. Gerry also got his home teaching assignment, which consists of 6 families. That is a lot, I think. And the other crazy part is there isn't enough people to have home teacher companions, so he is on his own. I guess a lot of them are single women, so I will be getting to go visit with him. (Not sure how that will work out with our kids!) I also got my visiting teaching assignment which is only 3 women, but I also have no partner. I tend to be the person no one wants for their partner, because I am a slacker. I better get on the ball. The counselor said they are still trying to figure what calling to put me in. It will be exciting. I think change is fun. I thought I would share Gerry's new calling, I am excited for him!
