The funniest thing happened.....

last night.
we were going to bed and we kept hearing this loud banging sound. well, we couldn't quite figure out what it was and it kept happening over and over. we turned off the lights and peeked out our window to see if we could see anyone, but no one was there. so we kept getting ready for bed. well, the loud banging sound happened every few minutes and isaac got his gun - just in case he'd need it - to protect us. well, we kept the window open just in case we could catch someone and went to bed.
well, this morning isaac had to leave super early for work and i was trying to stay asleep until my alarm went off. i heard him walk out the door but never heard the door shut. a few minutes later he came up and said - wendy, we have a surprise on our doorstep you need to come look at. now, being as early as it was, i thought - what in the world could it be? dog poop? a cake? toilet paper all over? so i crawled out of bed and went down to see what it was. and this was it:

Mystery solved.
the loud banging sound we kept hearing was some balloons popping. who would have guessed that was the sound? not us.

the balloons had writing all over them with super-funny phrases and some of them even had water inside. a couple of those popped on us when we were reading the messages. this one above was one of my favorites - Earls of sandwich???

not quite sure what this one is supposed to mean. it says "Steventon Rectory" any ideas?

So - the moral of the story - if you are going to come and leave a surprise like this for us - don't use your own handwriting. we know who you are and we're coming for you!
(but thank you for the surprise - it sure made our morning and night more adventuresome!)

a long post: a drenching ride & GRADUATION 2009!

Well, it's been another exciting week. and we seem to have our camera with us all the time now - how fun is it that we're photo-documenting our lives?!?!?

the other night we went to a concert in the park with my family. it's was great - until the rain started coming. we decided to leave early because we were on the motorcycle, but alas, the rain didn't stop for us. we had quite the ride home in the rain. i can't understand why the cars driving next to us kept laughing when we pulled up next to them at a stop light. two people out for a nice motorcycle ride in the middle of a thunderstorm. weird.

by the time we got home we were soaked through. i ran inside to grab the camera so we could show how bad it really was.

there were spots on each of us that were still dry, believe it or not, but pretty much we were wet everywhere. i had shorts on and man did those rain drops hurt when they pelted my legs. i had sunglasses on, too, but the rain drops kept dropping into my eyes, even though i had my head titled down into isaac's back.

i could barely get my sweatshirt off because it was so heavy from all the water it had soaked up.

thank goodness his behind was dry.

and thank goodness i put my sweatshirt on before we left the park - or else i would have been having a wet t-shirt contest in a white t-shirt. eeks! we dried out and listened to the thunderstorm from inside our house. it was so bad that the thunder set off a neighbor's car alarm.

later, after we got home and dried out (kind of) lori and david came over to borrow the video camera for their upcoming delivery of Peanut.

too bad Peanut didn't get the memo about coming. lori's due date is saturday june 6. looks like this baby isn't going to come early. i can't WAIT until this baby gets here. hopefully she'll come this weekend so we can visit lots with her before another crazy work week starts.

the men chillin' out and swappin' stories.

Then yesterday we were lucky enough to go to Jakey's graduation.

the graduating class.

let's play where's jakey?. hint: the white shoes should help direct your eyes towards him.

i got to hold Critter the whole time. he's such a great baby!

oh - the shoes again. looks like jake is bored.

jake sat next to his fried Maxy-Max and they stood in line goofing off, too.

"it's pronounced 'Master Jacob'."
