The Babies Von Weed

The first real pictures I had taken of Nathan were when he was somewhere between 6 and 9 months old.  I can't remember exactly, but I just know the clothes he was wearing were 6-9 months.  I decided I liked it because somewhere in that range, they're big enough to sit up, but not so big that they crawl away.  They're big enough that they don't look like a newborn anymore, and they're starting to look like themselves.  SO, I made sure to have some nice pictures taken of each of them when they reached that age.  And since that's Grace's age now, Miss Jayna did one final photo session before she left to Scotland (cry.)  SOOOOOO, here they are-The Babies Von Weed.

Baby Nate.  Serious and inquisitive.

Baby Cody.  Up close and bustin' a gut. (There were other pictures from this session that looked more "professional," but this one captures his essence best!)

Baby Leah.  Sweet and sparkly eyed.  And EYELASHES!

Spencer.  Exuberant!  As always!

And little Gigi.  Pleasant.  Happy even.  But a little serious.

And that is IT, friends, that is IT.  The end.  There shall be NO MORE Babies Von Weed.  So, what do you think?  Compare/Contrast?

Fall Pictures 2016

Miss Jayna took our pictures one last time before she moved to Scotland (which I am still super sad about), and here they are!

Littlest and cutest first.

Oh, my Spen.  Never grow up!

Girlfriend always shows up for pictures.  She's definitely getting toothier, but still adorable.

Cody, Cody, Cody.  Somehow still the coolest kid around.

And my Nathan.  My twelve year old who somehow has the essence of a confident, cool teenager.  (How?!)

This is my life, people.  This is my life.

A Poem

Leah came home with this poem on one of her first days of school.  I love it.  It's just such a glimpse into a developing person... a great insight into who she thinks she is right now... Many of these things I would have said and knew, but many of them this is the first time they have ever come up!  (Dentist?  Dolphins?  Las Vegas?  What??)

Leah

Who is kind, fast, smart and creative
Who loves babies, gymnastics, flowers and dolphins
Who eats strawberry ice cream, watermelon, grapes, corn and spaghetti
Who wants to have a million dollars and be a dentist
Who would like to see Chuck E. Cheese and Las Vegas
Who hates bugs and tomatoes
Who loves school
Who is also known as Pizza Leah

Sisters

Sometimes I catch little moments between Leah and Grace and it makes me realize that sisters really are special.

Summer Snaps part 2

End of Summer Reading Party at our local library-free popcorn, cotton candy, and snowcones and tons of games.  I love that little library!

Just because cute!

Love that Nathan boy!

Annual Shakespeare date... we saw 12th Night, and had a great picnic, as always.

We are uniquely well outfitted for Dress Like A Pirate Day at Krispy Kreme... give us all the free doughnuts.

Baby in a romper.  Gimme.

This face!  Can you even?!  HAHAHAAAAA!  I die!

With Great Grandma Hulme!

This baby is SQUISHED into her little swimmin' soup, but really, what is better?!  Girlfriend developed a few little rolls!

This little boy in this little moment will live on in my memory forever.

Summer Snaps

I know that school has started, so summer is KIND of over, but isn't Labor Day the real end of summer?  I'm going with that so that means I'm not late in blogging about all our summer activities-and I'm determined to get these all blogged before the day is done!

Little girly babies and flowers-is there anything better?  ALL the floral things here provided by Miss Jayna!

This summer we had a little schedule of outings.  Every Monday we went on a walk-didn't matter if it was by the river or in our neighborhood, or whatever, but we went on a walk.  Tuesday was park day.  Wednesday was Mom's choice (sometimes to a dollar movie, sometimes to a store, just whatever Mom wants).  Thursday was Library Day and Friday was Dad's choice.  I think this was good for us, as it got us up and out of the house even when I didn't particularly want to, and I didn't have to THINK about it.  It was just simple and automatic.  And in the course of these things, we made some sweet discoveries-like the above awesomest, biggest, leafiest, best-for-climbing-and-playing tree!

Here's a shot from another of our walks... twinners, I tell you!  For real!

*This was not posed.  They really all just held hands and strolled down the lane.  Makes our life look pretty idyllic, doesn't it??

Another part of our summer schedule was that every day, along with chores and reading time and creative time, each kid had to have "Spencer Time."  That meant that each of them spent a half hour of one on one time with Spencer every day.  Spencer LOOOOOOOVED it!  Here, Nathan cuddled up with him and read for Spency Time.

Ry and his quiver on Father's Day...

Ryan with two people who he held as babies.  YES, we are that old and YES that's right, Ryan literally babysat the infant Tanner.  At one time, Ryan held BYU's quarterback hopes in his arms.  So the way he sees it, BYU can thank him PERSONALLY for any successes that Tanner brings.  Miracle Mangum?  I mean, be real, WHAT IF young Ryan Weed hadn't been so exceptionally responsible in caring for that baby?  Huh?  WHERE WOULD YOU BE, BYU??  So, you know, you're welcome and all that.

Also got to met coach-both my boys had stars in their eyes about that one!

Mama and baby selfie time.

Group haircut day is the best day-they are so handsome all fresh cut.

Summer is the time for visiting with friends!  Hanging at the park with Emily and Miss Jayna while our children run ragged in the background.

More amigas... hangin' with Emily again and Melanie joined us for some Mongolian BBQ.  And a bird of paradise perched atop my head.  (15 children between the 3 of us.  What?!)

Even Nathan got to see his first friend, Simon.

Grace was a little worried when I told her she WAS the picnic... but with those little thighs and that outfit, she was just too delectable NOT to eat.

Over the summer, Cody read ALL the Harry Potters.  He was ENTHRALLED.  And I LOVE to watch it.  Love it.  Love it.  Look at his eyes, he is HOOKED.

Ok, this is getting long and I'm only half done with summer.  I'm posting this now, and I'll finish the rest of summer tomorrow!

Washington, of course

Has there been a summer yet where there hasn't been at least one Washington post??  I think not!

Spencey had his first dental appointment there... as you can see, he thought he was the king of the world.  Yertle the Turtle much?

We took our annual trip to Lake Chelan-and a delicious detour to Blueberry Hills...

After a great week with Grandma Meyers, which included such unphotographed events as painting ceramics, going to a water slide park, and going to Smallwoods, we headed off to visit Great Grandma Meyers!

We always go walking with Grandma-mostly because SHE always goes walking.  She's very kind to slow her pace for us...

This time, we headed on a walk by the Spokane River and ended up at this most perfect little cove!

I mean, really.  That's unedited.  It was so perfectly beautiful!

And perfectly fun-rocks to throw as far as the eye can see!

These girls are just best buddies.

As we were driving one day, we passed an apartment complex and she said to me, "Maybe when I get old, I'll live in an apartment."  ... ... ... She's NINETY ONE.  #NotOldYet

As always, a great time had by all in Washington!  Until next summer...
