It has been months since I last had a post and not quite sure where to begin. Clay is gone with Army training again for this month so I thought I would have lots of "extra" time to catch up on the blog. So here's a brief attempt tonight (but I have been getting other projects done.)
Surgery went fairly well. It was the first time I have ever been sedated that heavily and been cut open. I have to admit having babies was more fun. Surgery itself went pretty well, only one complication when an artery wouldn't stop bleeding so now I have a lovely staple friend that is going to be inside of me for the rest of my life. :) I was really out of it and it took a while to come back too so I really don't remember much at all that day of the surgery itself. I remember Clay trying to feed me but I wasn't able to eat anything at all that day. By breakfast the next morning, I was grateful I could keep something down finally.
I went home the day after with lots of pain pills which I tried to avoid taking as much as possible. I remember feeling like I was pretty coherent at the time but a week later, I couldn't remember who even brought dinner over that night or what it was. I guess I was more out of it than I thought. It was nice to have both of our mothers there to help. That was also General Conference weekend, the first I haven't tried to take notes in years. Clay had a test that Monday after which he did really well on and it was nice to have help running kids since I couldn't drive for a couple of weeks.
Since then, I'm feeling pretty good. I was having a lot of back pain and I am really surprised how much of that is gone now. I guess it must have been pinching a nerve maybe or radiating pain, either way I'm grateful that's gone. It took a little longer for one of the incisions (I have 3) to heal which was a little frustrating but I'm doing much better now.
I will try to catch up a bit more over the next few days. We'll see how it goes. Flying solo with six is a little exhausting some days (mostly because I don't sleep well at night).
I really missed date night tonight. Maybe next week, I'll have a date with myself. :(
