dresses update

Well I was able to get the maid of honor dress pretty much done--just need to hem it. Next, cut out the other 2 bridesmaids dresses. Hopefully today!!!

Jonathan has been using the term "Oh, man!" so much lately it's really cute. He actually went to bed at a little more reasonable hour last night. A little crying, but it's getting better. Christina has decided to sleep in Amanda's bed the last few nights (I think she figured it's easier so she doesn't have to make her bed that way). I found Amanda on the couch this morning again. I guess she figured the bed was too crowded.

Jonathan

Jonathan is cutting all 4 of his 2 year molars right now. He's changed so much and isn't his usually happy self, so he's still up tonight, again. He struggles every night with going to bed the last week or so (and with nursery). So every night, he gets his binky, ice packs, and enjoys having Mom & Dad (& Samantha) all to himself. Hopefully he'll get them all in soon. We can't wait to have our happy Jonathan back and some quiet time at night.

Samantha is rolling all over the place and can sit up with support now. She's not staying the baby like I was hoping. She is such a good trooper putting up with all of the fun at our house.

I had some good progress today on the dresses for the wedding. The little girls dresses are completely done & the little boys ties too. I was able to get the maid of honor dress bodice sewn today and sleeves put in. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the skirt put together and maybe even attach the two. We'll see. Mondays and Wednesday are hard with work even though it's only a few hours.

Amanda's never ending fun for us

Well Sunday after I posted, Amanda decided she needed a little more attention. Clay & I were busy fixing dinner together (& trying to talk) and most of the kids were downstairs playing. We ate dinner and I began washing dishes as Amanda, who is still at the table eating, just looks at me and says "I cut my bangs." Clay, who was helping dry (don't I have a great husband?), just looked at me, I guess the shock must have been on my face and he didn't understand what Amanda said. I asked her where and with what scissors and she said she used my sewing scissors from my sewing room (the kids aren't supposed to be in there). Sure enough, there was her hair in the garbage can down in the sewing room.

Yesterday, I had calmed down enough to ask her why. She responded that mom & Christina didn't have bangs. I tried to explain to her that we had grown them out, not cut them off. Pictures at Uncle Jake's wedding will be interesting. I'm not sure if I should cut the rest of them off or not. I guess I should add that this is the second time she's cut her hair since Samantha's been born (see the stragglers on the right side? They're almost long enough to stay in a pony tail. :) )

Samantha is 4 months old!

Well, technically she turned 4 months on the 16th of July. We took her to the dr. that day for her check up. She's up to 14 lb. 4 oz. (63 %), 26 in. (94%) and head is 42.5 (86%). She's moving into the 6-9 month clothes. I've never had one so big!!!! Amanda pulled out the dress that Great Grandma Beck gave Samantha as a baby gift--it's size 12 months, I figured it would work out great for an Easter dress next year. As I was about to tell her no, it hit me that the dress I made her for Jake's wedding is 12 months so I figured I'd try it anyway. It fit great!!! I'm still in shock so here's some pictures I took of her in it. Maybe someday we can go get pictures taken again.

Zoo

We went to the zoo yesterday so I just wanted to update with some pictures from the zoo--Samantha's first trip to the zoo. I think she liked it!

Life

okay, I haven't been as good at this as I was hoping. This summer has been kind of a struggle. The first week of summer vacation for the kids went really well but the fun of it has worn off by now I guess. I guess I should update things a little. On June 21st (our 12th anniversary), my brother Jake got engaged to Jill Corson. We are thrilled for them!!!! They are getting married on August 27th in the Salt Lake Temple.

I was asked to make the bridesmaids dresses (3 of them), her going away dress, and dresses for the nieces and ties for the nephews attending (my 5, and my sister's 2). So I've got the 3 ties done and the older 3 girls dresses are getting there. I've got to put in the zippers, sew the lining down and hem them. Just over a month to go!!!

Christina and Daniel had their birthdays in the end of June. We were going to overlap their birthday parties but decided to combine them instead so we had them on Friday, June 27th. Clay started a temp. job teaching at the U of U (algebra & geometry to junior high students) that started the Monday before (the 24th?) and will end on Aug. 1. He usually takes a lunch and some times comes home for lunch so we figured a lunch birthday water party would be great. It wasn't until the day before I realized we had scheduled the party when daddy wouldn't be here. whoops!

So after my emotional breakdown, I pulled myself together and it worked. I had 2 of my friends come help and we pulled it off. I think there were a total of 25 people (3 of whom were adults). Crazy, I know. The next Monday, the kids and I headed off to Denver for my niece's baptism.
Denver was fun--it was nice to get a little bit of a break from our normal chaos. Clay flew in that Thursday in time for the baptism. Barbra asked me to play the piano for the program (which I haven't played in front of others in years!!!!) . We all survived. The next Sunday, we headed home. The kids actually did really well in the car.

My sister and I were able to get the fabric for the little girls dresses in Colorado so I've been busy sewing the last 2 weeks to try to get them done.

Anyway, we're surviving. Clay just got another part-time job yesterday working for Fed Ex Ground. It's just temporary for now but hopefully it will turn into something more. He'll be working 3 jobs the next 2 weeks. I long for the day when we can just survive on 1 job.
