Memorial Weekend

Long Live Crested Butte (pronounced byoot - for you funnies out there)

Crested Butte is beautiful.

And fun.

And we were so pleased with ourselves that we took advantage of a four-day weekend to make the most of CB.

Liza's highlights of the trip?
hiking

and fishing!!!

Landon's highlight of the trip?
throwing rocks in the river (lucky for us - there were lots of opportunities for that!)

Tyler's highlight?
biking

(or was it teaching the kids how much fun racing sticks down the river can be?)

I loved it all. The funny thing to me was that the locals repeatedly apologized for the weather (mostly overcast - rain came in and out). "Of all the weekends you could've come!" But the forecast in Denver was for rain, too - so what did we have to lose? As we drove home, we saw the huge black cloud in the sky that was home - and we returned home to buckets and buckets of rain. All who stayed in town over the weekend said we missed nothing - and we sure had a BLAST!!!

Bargain Hunter

One of the big perks of spring is the return of yard sales. I love yard sales in Highlands Ranch. So many dual income families with their maximum of 2 children, and their nice STUFF that they sell in good condition. Last year, Liza's entire summer wardrobe cost me about $12 - and all the outfits were those cute, matching deals from Gymboree and The Children's Place and all that jazz.

This weekend, I spent $13 and came away with two big buys for the kids. Liza's room now has a dresser - for 10 bucks!- (which she lovingly moved into this morning), and Landon's room has now maxed out on available train space ($3).



(note the missing drawers that Liza single-handedly pulled out and dragged into her room for the clothing transfer!)

Look how happy the kids are. It compares only slightly to my joy at finding great deals.
