Proud to be Americans

look at our little man being all patriotic...

He smiles all the time these days but it has been hard for me to catch it on camera! I will get there!

So blessed...

Spencer gave Ryland a blessing on the 4th of July. It was so perfect! We had the majority of both sides of the family with us - and we had those missing in our hearts that day... Ryland looked so handsome in his white sweater, shorts and shoes and I absolutely loved every minute of that day. Spencer is an incredible father- Ryland just loves him so much!
Taylor was home for a quick three weeks before he deploys to Afghanistan on August 2nd. I am so grateful he and Ryland were able to meet and get to know each other before he left! By the time Taylor gets back Ryland will be over a year old! Crazy! We wish Taylor luck, safety and strength while he is gone... it was so special to have him here.
The proud parents (thats us) with the proud grandparents! They spoil Ryland so much... and I swear every moment Ryland is with my Dad he just smiles and smiles- and he is so relaxed and peaceful with my Mom. I love having them with us to love on him all the time!

Just wanted to show ya the whole outfit...

Look at how much he has changed! His little cheeks are getting round...
I just love the little shoes! So cute.

First Month

Our first month as a family of three has come and gone! As a matter of fact, we already have a two month old... but I will do a separate post for that! The photo above is us on Father's Day, which was also our first sunday back at church and Ryland was officially 1 month the day before- so lets count this as his 1 month photo! Yes, I had matching ties for Ryland and Spencer... I was one happy woman that day! My little man and my big man matching! Love, love, love!
In the first month, Ryland ate, ate, ate, slept, slept, slept and grew so fast! He was super mellow and loved looking at the world around him! And as for his mama, well, I just couldn't get enough of him (still can't actually... ) and I would stare at him all day long! I just love this little man so much!

Introducing...

Ryland Spencer Frye
born 5.21.2010
8:40 am
7 lbs 3 oz
20.5 inches

We are so GRATEFUL to have been BLESSED with this WONDERFUL, HANDSOME, PEACEFUL little man. It was an INCREDIBLE experience bringing him into this world and has been an AMAZING 18 days getting to know Ryland and getting to LOVE on him all the time. Everyone on both sides of our family have been so EXCITED to LOVE on him too- so he is getting pretty spoiled! Spencer is an AMAZING father and has been so SUPPORTIVE of me and the little man.

Ryland looks so much like his Daddy I wonder if I had anything to do with it ;)- this is fine by me because HELLO! I think his Daddy is MIGHTY HANDSOME!! He has full lips, long blonde eyelashes, big bright eyes, long legs- and is so CUTE I could just sit and stare at him all day long! He has a sweet demeanor and rarely graces us with a big cry (I know, there is plenty of those moments ahead of me- but for I will take him sweet like this!) His very favorite things are to be HUGGED, HELD, KISSED and CUDDLED.

At Ryland's two week appt:
8 lbs 3 oz (50%)
21 1/4 inches (90%)

To the little man:
WE LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH! You are an incredible blessing in our lives and we are so excited to watch you grow!

How about a little nursery action?

Green walls? Oh yes. Safari theme. yes. Elephant decal. yes, yes, yes.
Happy Momma to be? YES! :)
It was so fun for me to shop around for what I really wanted to put in the baby's room- and even more fun to have a space that I could really do what I wanted with! Gone are the days of renting a space with white walls and being restricted to just that! yay!! My wonderful mother helped find awesome deals and helped with the execution of everything! Look at these beautiful window coverings (she made them)! She is amazing!

We were pretty excited to get moving on this little project and have had it done for about a month now. I love it! I painted the room green and the ceiling white while Spencer was gone on a business trip- it was so fun to surprise him! And I loved that it kept me busy while he was gone :)
I can hardly believe we only have about 26 days left! Whoo-hoo!!

This upholstered headboard was even made by my wonderful husband! What a man! Speaking of men... our little man is doing great! As of this mornings appointment, everything looks good and sounds good... I have to admit I am pretty ready to get this "show" on the road but I know it will all happen when its supposed to- So for now I am just thrilled he is healthy and doing good and I am thrilled to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I will keep everyone posted :) (We all know how good I am at doing that, but I promise, I will!)

decisions, decisions, decisions...

Well, time is flying by!! I am now 24 1/2 weeks and the belly is growing, growing, growing! It is so cool to feel the little man kick and move around (except when its too early for me to wake up! so I just politely ask him to stop and go back to sleep). Life is good, and I am so glad to feel a little bit more normal again. Spencer loves being able to actually see things progressing too- which is a relief ;) its nice to have someone complimenting you (even if he is just doing it to be a supportive husband!)

We have so many decisions to make and I feel like I have never been more indecisive in my whole life! I can't decide which direction to take the nursery, which carseat/carrier is best, which stroller... the list goes on and on! And while I know we still have some time, its not like we have forever or anything! Eventually time is going to run out! And what if this baby gets here and I don't have anything for him?? I have definite opinions on things I like or don't like... but still- I am having a hard time committing! We haven't bought any of the "big ticket" items yet... we have lots to do! I thought by now we would at least have the name thing pretty well figured out... but as time goes on, the list gets longer and longer instead of shorter! And just so ya know... I am kinda thinking I want the name to be a surprise ... so don't ask :) Its hard for me to say no when people pressure me- but ultimately I don't really want everyone else's opinions! And I want something to be new news to people when we get to call and say "HE's HERE!!! INTRODUCING....." So, I am politely saying- please wait :) Plus- I need more time to decide :)

With that said, there is some advice I am willing to take from all the little mama's out there that might be reading this blog... Did you have a favorite product or item for your little newborn? Any suggestions on something that we just have to have? Anything you didn't know about before baby came that you wish you had?? Do you have a stroller thats amazing? Or a light carseat (is there such a thing?) Can you tell I am starting to get into that "nesting" stage? I don't feel stressed, I just feel like its time to make some decisions and I would love whatever advice someone has for me!

Now to spice things up a little bit, here are just a few pictures of things I want to add to this little man's slowing growing closet :)
