Austin singing "chee chee chee" (ABC's)
Okay, maybe the 3rd time's a charm? I've tried to upload this video twice and it's crashed both times. Hopefully this one will work. If not, you'll just have to come here and see him sing in person. You may have to put your ear to the speaker or put on headphones to hear him. I recorded this with my regular camera so it's not that great. Sorry!

I failed miserably at keeping this current
Oh well. LOL!
Well, I was about to upload a video of Austin singing ABC's. Then I discovered I downloaded the video to my home computer. I am at work. I guess I'll upload it later.

APRIL 2007???
Wow, it has been a while. I was thinking it had been a few months since the last post; six at the most...but a YEAR???
Well...things have been VERY busy since last year...and I only have a few minutes left at work before everyone gets back...so you'll have to wait a little while longer before getting an update ;)
More later, I promise!!!

Salamanders ROCK!
As mentioned in my other blog (www.blog.myspace.com/southnmist), Rick and I were walking to the deck when he noticed "something" crawling across the concrete. I thought this little guy was WAY COOL and picked him up. Rick and Jonathan wouldn't touch it. Wimps! hahaha Anyway, I haven't determined exactly which variety of creature he is; I thought it was a newt but he may be a salamander. He sort of resembles the Blue Ridge salamander (makes sense, we live in the Blue Ridge North subdivision LOL) but the map says they don't venture this far south. Ah who cares? LOL he was fun to play with but I put him in the nice wet leaves for him to continue on his journey. I hope he made it to where he wanted to go! LOL!

Driveway project
The old drain would get clogged with sticks and leaves. When it backed up, the rainwater jumped the curb and washed out the slab that held the dirt in place. When we had more concrete poured, Rick decided to build a new drain. Of course he built a mac-daddy drain that would NOT get clogged. Here's the drain cover before the wood frame was removed:

After the frame was removed, we decided to build a flowerbed and clean up the curb. Here are the before pics:

(Above) Rick building flowerbed platform over the new concrete slab.
After the platform was built, Rick hopped on the tractor (whee!) and brought in some really nice topsoil. Only certain people will geek out over "good dirt" but you know who you are! LOL!
This weekend I planted Asian Jasmine in the flowerbed. I'll post pics when I take them. It was raining so I didn't take pics. Yes I was planting in the rain. It was fun...hahaha

My new garden
It's spring time, and we've been working in the yard. Last weekend Rick built a raised vegetable garden for me:
Day 1: He built it and put dirt and topsoil in it (yeah for tractor!)
Day 2 (pictured): Trying to get the leaves, sticks and roots out of the garden. Cleaned it up as much as possible then planted romaine lettuce, spinach, broccoli, various peppers, and a tomato plant.

Yesterday: View of front of house from garden. A few days ago I added squash and cucumbers to the garden.

View from driveway...garden is near the top right corner.
