Where, Oh Where . . .

has my little dog done?

Yep, sorry to say, but our little dog Rugby has gone on to that great doggie playgound in the sky.

We got Rugby when he was a tiny puppy . . . from the pound . . . so we had no idea what he would grow up to be. Sorry, I can't immediately access puppy photos. You'll just have to believe me that he was one of the cutest little black balls of fur ever born! He grew up to be this great big bear of a dog. He looks a bit menacing, but he was a very sweet and gentle dog. He accomodated our family so nicely. He took us on walks. Let us scratch his back. Licked our feet. Chased away cats and squirrels. And guarded our home. With enthusiasm.

He started having seizures when he was 4 or 5 years old. In the end, that's what took him! But we are so grateful that we got to know and love this wonderful dog.

For the last 2 years our great friends/family the Putnam's have kept Rugby safe and sound and well exercised! Thank you. Thank you. You've done a great service to our family that we can never repay.

We'll miss ya', ol' Rugby.

Meet Anna Noelle

They did it! They beat the odds. They chose a beautiful name for our darling granddaughter.

Isn't she beautiful! Next to her daddy she looks awfully small.

This picture was taken within 24 hours of birth.

Here she is heading home from the hospital! Can you believe how huge that car seat looks?!

Happy Birthday Anna Noelle! We're so happy that you are here!

What Shall We Name the Baby?

Baby name blues . . .

Yes, we've got them again.

As you know, it is difficult choosing the perfect name for ANY baby.
A child's name can fundamentally affect feelings of self-worth, confidence and contentment. How can one possibly select a name for a person he/she hasn't even met? A great sense of responsibility settles upon you to get it right!

Under normal circumstances that is challenge enough . . .

but try accomplishing that task when your last name is WEED.

One of my children is facing that challenge today . . .
Weed grandbaby #6 was born yesterday.

What shall we call her?

Should they go for the cutesy, ignoring the Weed accompaniment?
Like Poppy Weed?

Or should they face it head on with a bold statement . . . such as
I. Emma Weed.

They could try to provide future employment or small business opportunities by choosing a name such as Ican Pulla Weed . . . or Lemme Whackyr Weed.

There are also opportunities to make a political statement, like: Sayno T. Weed. Of course, if you're on the other side of that political argument you'd want to choose something more like Leslie Galize Weed.

Yeah, it's a problem. One that generations of Weeds have had to wrestle with. The good news is that, at least as far as I know, there's no Ima Weed, Ura Weed, or Weneed Weed in the family tree.

Despite the obvious challenge to properly name a Weed child, there are still plenty of great names to choose from . . . such as Tumble Weed, Rag Weed and Dandy Lion Weed. . .

So, what are we waiting for?
