red butte gardens

Last minute on Tuesday, I called up my friend Jenni and met up with her and her 3 girls at Red Butte Gardens(thanks for inviting me down jen!). We took full advantage of the nice weather(rained later that day) and had some good fun outside. Of course with the amount of kids we had, time goes fast and we were not able to see much. We spent most of the time in the children's garden. Taylor had a blast and loved baby Tia. One of the highlights of the whole trip. She loves babies.

Taylor also enjoy Jada(who is 3 months older than taylor). She wanted her to follow her while she walk...her new favorite game. The 2 took a while to warm up to each other, but then had a good time playing.

Of course I was so proud when taylor warmed up a little and walked! It is becoming a habit...and she has so much more freedom now. Of course we are not quite there, but it is so fun to watch!

taylor's favorite(besides baby tia) was the water and looking at the fish.

I am so glad we got out again and did some stuff outside.
This rainy weather is really putting a damper on our outside time.

she walks!

I was so worried and so frustrated when taylor started to revert back every morning, not wanting to walk, and only in certain areas of the house and certain ways(circle the table). Plus she only wanted to use my hand to get up.

Well, she is on a roll now. She will go all over the house, use the walls, tables, etc. to help her up. She loves it and loves to carry her babies, and bunny around for a walk. Thank goodness! We really had a breakthrough and now we have plenty of time for her to master it, just in time for baby boy.

We took advantage of the break in the rain today and went to the park. Taylor of course had a good time and got brave and walked all around. Not so much on the playground but she was all over the paths and grass. I wish I brought my camera, but it was a last minute stop on the way home.

I am such a proud mom!

getting ready

not only am I trying to get ready for baby boy to come,
but taylor is also; practicing nurturing skills on all her animals and babies.
It is funny how they naturally start to play "mom."

she loves to:
-hug and kiss them
-rock them
-put them down for a nap
-feed them
-read to them
-change their diapers and put medicine on

...she is getting ready for baby brother...

a side note...this is how clean up time goes around here lately...

i am so tired of bending over, and taylor only does so much.
while i was away eric did a great job of teaching her to clean up,
but of course when the mess is this big...she needs a little help.
and i refuse to...so it stays like this most of the time!
don't judge me:)

...walking update...
taylor will do it here and there
likes to be followed or chased.
she doesn't like to walk on the tile very much,
and is more confident on the carpet.
we have learned from the past
that taylor has a mind of her own
and it takes her a long time to
develop a habit.
so we are giving her space,
and not pressuring her too much.

today she walked a ton...so proud.
we are trying to get her to use things
to help her up, but right now,
it is only my hand, and certain poles
in the house.

inspiration board

finally i have reached a decision
on baby boy's bedding.

you think it would be an easy one
since i am around fabric all the time.
but let me tell ya, fabric for a boy
is not as fun as it is for a girl.

i didn't feel like i could just
go out and buy a set i liked.
i felt like i should make it,
since that is what i do.

but i was so close to giving up,
and buying something from the stores.
i just couldn't find anything i liked.

yesterday i hit the fabric stores with
my mother in law and sister in law,
(who is also having a boy in sept)
and torie found this great fabric.

here are my ideas:

1-fabric choice
red/blue=bumper and crib skirt
solid blue=bumper and sheet
solid red=bumper ties, and sheet

2-swaddle blanket
light blue minky with red/blue fabric border

3-crib
not the exact crib, but similar

4-bumper with red piping and red ties

let's just hope i don't change my mind
by the end of the week.
now i need to find the time to make it!

...3.5 weeks to go...

walking...day 3

taylor doesn't want to try it
gets mad if you try to get her to do it
mom is frustrated

...i know it doesn't happen all at once, but come on, it is about time...

walking...day 2

yes, we had a breakthrough yesterday,
but of course we are not quite there.
after showing her off to grandparents
and dad, and a long night rest,
she has reverted just a little.

i am still hopeful,
but it is still going to
take some time.

she is a little apprehensive
and doesn't want to use
anything but my hand to help her up.
and...she gets really frustrated when
she falls...

{this is her "i'm frustrated" face}

we are working on making it fun
and just going through the motions.
it clicked finallly, and before we know it
it will stick!

i am glad it happened now,
so we can get it down before
baby boy comes!
we are still super excited about
this breakthrough...20 1/2 months!

{holding a toy really helps...it distracts her}

08 June 2009

it clicked!

just like the doctor said..."it will just click"
and she will be walking before baby boy comes!

YEAH! TAYLOR IS WALKING!!!

I never thought this day would come! We were on our way up for a nap, and of course we have to walk every where holding her hand. Sometimes we pace around the house just walking and walking. "bama" Connie is a good sport and would walk around with taylor all the time.

anyway...I was taking taylor up for a nap and decided to lower my hand to her level while we walked. She didn't really like it at first but all the sudden she let go of my fingers...i think...i was so excited, the actual moment is kind of a blur. But she let go and stood there without dropping to her knees! We did this a couple more times and finally I encouraged her to walk and she just took off!

{look how happy she is!}

There was a lot of hoopin' and hollerin' on my part and smiles all over taylor's face. I couldn't believe it. She can do it all! She turns around, can use the wall and push up on her own, and just paced the halls for 45 minutes. Her diaper was stinky and she was way past nap time, but I didn't want to stop her!

This has opened up a whole new world for the girl and I am SO excited the day has finally come! yeah for taylor rae! I am just sorry dad missed it. Here are some shots of our BIG GIRL!

And you were all worried!:)

san francisco

good food, good family, good fun!

Friday we arrived in the city, had an awesome lunch at Scala's and went to a movie.

After waiting in line, forever, we took the trolley through the city to the Wharf.

Saturday we spent the whole day down at the Fisherman's Wharf: *walking the pier *lunch at Boudins *watching street performers *watching the seals(stinky) The weather was a little chilly and foggy so we weren't able to see the Golden Gate Bridge or take a boat ride...nonetheless, it was a fun productive day.

After the Wharf we heading over to Ghirardelli Square to browse the shops and make the traditional stop at the ice cream shop for some sundaes! YUM!

Sunday we spend time shopping and walking the city, then treated ourselves to Wicked! So good, and such fun entertainment!

It wouldn't be a girls trip without good food, good shopping, and diet coke breaks!

You can always count on the girls for a treat! We had plenty and they were all so good!

It was so fun to get away and have good converstations, fun, stories, and family time. I admit I cried when I left taylor(first time away), but it was all eased when I realized how much fun Taylor was having with her dad. She was actually such a good girl. Eric said she never cried or whinned(what???). She had a blast going to the Zoo, playing with her new toys, a day with G.Ma Kris and buying a new mountain bike for dad!

I was so excited to see her and she was shy for about 10 mintues and had SO much to tell me. She is talking a ton and it was good to come home. We did so much walking I am exhuasted and sore.

Now I have 1 month to get ready for baby boy, finish 3 bedding orders, and relax. I am so tired. :(
