Child Piano Prodigy

Alright, my new favorite television show is the Ellen Show. Everyday at 4:00 I record her so I can watch without commercials. She is so funny! At least once every day I say to myself, "Oprah would never do something like that". So, Ellen is my new favorite.
This is a clip of a little girl who is 6 years old named Emily Bear,who appeared on The Ellen Show. She is AMAZING on the piano. She write most of her own songs and she can play by ear as well. This song is one that she wrote for Ellen, rightfully called... Ellen's Song. Enjoy, it's REALLY pretty! Oh, this is a clip of one of her recitals where she played "Ellens Song", it was shorter than the actual clip from the show.

Whatsa Goin' On

The last week or so has been pretty mild here in the Mize household. However we had a fun weekend. We went up to David's parent's house because our friend Kayti had her reception there on Friday night. She looked SO beautiful! And David and I LOVE her husband, he's PERFECT for her. Unfortunately we forgot our camera so we have no pictures. Sad, but I'm sure she'll have a ton up sooner or later. If you are dying to see her blog link is on the right side of our page here. :) Her reception was beautiful and they had SO much fun! For part of their gift David and I decorated their hotel room with Rose Petals, Candles and Sparkling Cider. We hope that they enjoyed it, I'm sure they did.
Now, a few days before we left we were having a HUGE ant problem in the bedroom. They were all along the baseboard by the window and decided to take over my night stand. So, our fix it guy came over and put down some bate to kill them and their colony. 5 minutes after he left this is what the bate looked like. Keep in mind this is only 1 of the 5 places he put the bate.
Pretty freaking nasty huh! But, it worked because I haven't seen any ants since! :) YAY!
Since we were in Portland already, we stayed at my in-law's for the weekend because David's best friend was in town as well, with his wife and baby. Saturday morning David went golfing with his Dad and Scott (the best friend). Apparently David won so it was a good day! :) Saturday afternoon I went shopping with my mother-in-law and sisters-in-law for fabric. My mother-in-law is making the bedding for Tuckers crib, so we had to get everything for it. She also decided that she wants to make a couple of blankets for Tucker to be swaddled in. She amazes me at how quick she is. Sunday morning she decided to make one of the small blankets and was done in about 30 minutes. She's like speed racer on the sewing machine. Here is what the blanket looks like. I love it so much! If you can't tell, one side is footballs, and the other side says Baby Boy on it. Too perfect! We also got the rest of the fabric for the bedding. I am SO excited for it. These are the colors that David and I chose. I refer to them as the "Nautica Blues" because I got the idea from a bedding set at Babies-R-Us that is Ralph Lauren Nautica. I love the bedding at Babies-R-Us, but it was way too expensive and having it made means I can get exactly what I want! :) We got some fabric that matched the top color and the bottom color perfectly, then we got a fabric that had a slight pattern to it that matched the middle color pretty well, and we also got a brighter blue that brought everything together really well. The bedding is going to be so cute. Here is the pattern that we are using. It's not the greatest picture, but I did what I could. :) And here is the bedding from babies-r-us that I got the color idea from. However, our patterned fabric doesn't have stripes it has little squares on it. Totally cute!

Well, that's all for us. We are enjoying Salem and everything that is coming with it. David is still loving his job, and I enjoy taking care of everything at home. In a week I will be heading to California and Vegas for 10 days. It's a long time to be away from home, but I will enjoy seeing the whole family. I hope all is well with everyone reading this!

Tucker the Turkey & Other Stuff

Alright, this little boy is being a little Turkey! He is kicking all of the time now. He is also VERY particular about the way that I sit. I have to wear the full panel maternity pants because if there is anything sitting too low he just pushes against it trying to move it or something. He also hates it when I sit on the couch and then lean forward. He just kicks me repeatedly until I move. Apparently it's not what he prefers. The other day I told David that he was doing it so David said, "Then don't sit forward." I replied to David saying, "Well, we both have to make sacrifices for comfort at this point. Sitting like this makes my back feel better." Then David said, "Wow, you're trying to reason with a baby that isn't even born." It was funny. It's just so interesting how this baby already has opinions. He's more and more like me every day. AGH! The topper though is that I will have my hand on my tummy and he plays games with me. He'll kick wherever my hand is. But as soon as I put David's hand on my tummy he he stops moving. I tell David that it's because the baby is stubborn, however David's theory is that Tucker likes him more than me and doesn't want to kick him. Either way, it's funny.
In other news, life is GREAT. David is still going strong at work and definitely learns something new every day. I enjoy hearing about different stuff everyday, and hearing the excitement in his voice. I love that he is so happy at his job. :)
I am just hanging out. My back is feeling better... YAY! This week I am going to hit up the fitness club down the road and see what all is there. I am going to California in August to watch my nieces and spend time with my family. In the same trip I am going to drive out to Vegas to see my other two brothers. I will get to see all of my family on this trip, and I am excited. They will all get to see me really pregnant in person. Let me just say though, I am SO grateful that both of my brothers in Vegas have Air Conditioning because it's like 1000000000 degrees in Vegas right now. I don't think I would go if they didn't! :) But I will also get to see my friend Seana. YAY!
Anyway, life is good. We are loving living in Salem. We are getting more and more excited for the baby to come. Whenever we see a little baby boy at church we get so excited. There is a cute little baby boy who's about 9 months old and David loves to make little faces with him. It's too cute! We are SO excited for November (and this time it's not just for Thanksgiving... hee hee hee).

Toilet Paper

Alright, this is a kind of random post. But it's been on my mind this evening. Between the hours of 8:00 and 10:00 this evening I went to the bathroom 6 times. That's right, 6 times. I know that it is because I am pregnant, and Tucker is sitting on bladder. I am pretty sure of him sitting on my bladder because every time I go I feel like I am going to wet my pants before I get there. Then, it's like a little trickle. Anyone out there who is or has been pregnant knows what I mean. It's obnoxious as I am sure you all agree. Even if you're not pregnant you can imagine how annoying that is. You seriously have to drop what you are doing and head to the bathroom. Frustrating!
Anyway so here is what I am getting at. No one tells you a lot of things that you are going to go through during pregnancy. And in the same respect, I think we overlook the "common sense" things that come with pregnancy. Things like how much toilet paper you are going to go through. Seriously, we are going to go through so much toilet paper in the next 5 months. Oh well!
Here is my idea. I think that a toilet paper company should pick one winner a month to receive free toilet paper for the duration of their pregnancy. Seriously, how awesome would that be. Now, there may be a company out there doing that, but if not, they should. It would just be one more thing to make being pregnant that much more enjoyable. I know, it sounds weird that free toilet paper would make it enjoyable, but for me, the smallest things make life that much easier. :)
Alright I know this was a TOTALLY random post, but it was on my mind. I think that throughout the day today I went through at least 1/2 a roll of toilet paper. Ah, the joys of pregnancy. :) Until next time...

We Are Family...

David and I had a really fun weekend this last weekend. We went out to Eastern Oregon on Saturday, Pendleton to be exact, to visit David's Grandma and Grandpa Mosby. It's always enjoyable to visit with them. We went with David's parents, little sister, his brother and family. I am proud to say that I made it the whole way (3 1/2 hours) without stopping to go to the bathroom. Miraculous I know. We had lunch with The Mosby's and sat around and enjoyed their company. Grandpa Mosby recently got one of those little electric scooters. Let me just tell you, those things can FLY! He let me take out for a spin in front of the house and I had a good time with it. I almost killed myself a few times, but I am still alive today. Then David got on it, and he's a so funny. I REALLY wish that we had out camera because there were some interesting photos that could have been taken. I have vowed that from now on I am going to take my camera EVERYWHERE so as not to miss out on these time. Anyway, we loved the few hours that we spent in Pendleton.
Now on to the main reason for the trip to Eastern Oregon, Grandma Mize got re-married. Actually this happened in Eastern Washington, in Walla Walla (yes, I love saying I have family in Walla Walla, WA) Grandpa Mize passed away while David was on his mission. Since then Grandma has been alone. She has family around, but hadn't had any companionship. Somewhere along the line she met Ernie and has been so giddy since. So this last weekend they got married and almost all of her family was there for it. I can't lie, it was kind of weird that they were getting married. Grandma is 84 years old and Ernie is 91. Yes, that's right 84 and 91. I always wondered why people who were at such an age in life would get married, however once I saw them together I could see why they wanted to be together. And they are so happy.
It was SO much fun to be with David's Dad's side of the family. David and I were the only ones who stayed the night in Walla Walla because we were taking Grandma's sister to the airport the next day. So we went to dinner with all of the family that was in town for the wedding (minus David's family, they had to make the trek home), and we had SO much fun. I got to know a lot of people that I had never met before, as well as build relationships with people I had only met once or twice. The family REALLY reminded me of my family in how loud they were and how they had no problems teasing each other. It was SO much fun. We stayed with David's Uncle Steve and Aunt Becky. After dinner we played cards with them and had so much fun! I almost won until the last round when Uncle Steve caught me with 200 points. Yeah, all my smack talk went to pot at that point! :)
Sunday we drove home with Grandma's sister, and really enjoyed her company. We had an awesome weekend and can't wait to go out and see everyone again soon. We told Grandma that we will hopefully make it out there around Christmas time after Tucker is born. Hopefully the weather will permit! :)

BOY!!!!!!!

Okay, as AWESOME as it would be for this to really be our ultrasound picture, it's not. But, it does state the true fact that we are having a BOY! YAY! His name will be Tucker Mosby Mize (Mosby is David's middle name and his Mom's maiden name). We are SO excited and can't wait to get everything ready for him. Here are some pictures of Tuckers ultrasound. Our scanner was not working so I had to take pictures of them with our camera and then download them to the computer. I hope you all enjoy them, I sure think they are cute!

Once the Dr. told us it was a boy I turned to David and said, "Yay, Happy Birthday, this means I don't have to buy you anything this year!" :) But alas, I bought him and outfit for his Son! I love David so much and am grateful for everything he does for me. For his Birthday we went to dinner at Busters BBQ with our friends Nathan and Shiara who have a little 6 week old named Owen. As soon as David saw Owen he said, "Hey, it's Tucker's little buddy." It was cute! :)

Our New Apartment

We are finally moved into our new apartment. It took me longer than I wanted because I hurt my back last week while trying to play super woman getting it done in 2 days. Sometimes I forget that I can't do everything all at once, and being pregnant makes it that much harder. But, we are done none-the-less. The only thing we have left to do is put all of the empty boxes in our storage place. I have attached a slide show of pictures of our place. I hope you all enjoy them. There is a picture of David's TV in there. It was his Christmas/Birthday/Graduation/New Job/Anniversary gift and we got a GREAT deal on it, so he was excited. Note that all of the pictures that refer to office, guest room and baby room are all the same room. ;) Enjoy!

It lives!

David felt the baby move for the first last night. We were laying on the couch watching a movie, and the baby was flipping around in there. So I took David's hand and put it on my stomach and he FINALLY was able to feel the baby move. He got a big grin on his face, it was cute!
Only a few more days and we won't have to call it "The Baby" or "it" anymore. YAY!

Update On Life

Wow, what a week it has been. I would love to say that we are completely settled into our new apartment, but we aren't. We are close, but not done. Which is a true sign that I am just exhausted lately because if I were completely up to speed, I would have had everything done by Tuesday. :) However, I am learning that being pregnant means you can't do it all at once, and as fast as normal. The kitchen and the bedroom were done Monday, which was nice. And since then the only thing I've really done is fold the blankets that were on the floor in the baby/guest room room and put the crib together. However, in the midst of all of that I messed my back up pretty bad. So I haven't been able to do much else. David picked up the family room yesterday and it is so nice to have an organized family room. So really, the only thing left is to get the baby/guest room organized and the bathroom stuff put away. Hopefully by Tuesday I will have that done and all of the pictures up everywhere. Then I can take pictures and post them here on our blog. But, in reality, it might not happen until the end of next week. We'll see!
David has completed his first week of real world work. He loves it. There is a lot of learning involved, but he is just soaking it all in. It's a different world for him now working an 8-5 job, but he is so happy, which makes me happy. He is able to come home for lunch everyday, so I am glad to see him then. I have become the BEST of friends with our croc pot. I love having dinner totally ready when David comes home, and I'm not rushing to get stuff done. :)
Physically this week has been a hard week for me. In addition to my back hurting pretty bad, it has just kept me up all night. Thursday night I was up from about 3:00 until 5:00, around 4:30 I just started crying on the couch because I was so tired and hurt so badly. So I go and crawl back into bed and David kind of wakes up and asks if I'm okay. In my crying voice I said no and he Shot RIGHT out of bed and asked what's wrong. I felt bad because I know he thought something was wrong with the baby, so I quickly said my back hurt so bad and I was SO tired. He laid down with much relief and then rubbed my back for a few minutes. I felt so bad though, poor guy thought it was something awful! I have also been getting really bad charly horses/cramps on my outer thigh area, and towards the end of the week I have been getting really bad butt cramps in the mornings. So I don't know what's going on. I am drinking more water per the advice of my sister-in-law Tomica and that seems to be helping with the charly horse/cramps in my legs, but my butt still cramps up. So, when we go to the Dr. this week I'll have to ask her about all of this because I have been SUPER testy lately and I don't know how long David can handle it! :)
Other than all that, life is good. We are SUPER excited to find out what the baby is! I am ready to go shopping and start getting ready for this child. :) Stay tuned, I'll post as soon as we know!

HAPPY (slightly late) 4TH OF JULY

Two Years Ago Yesterday!

Yesterday was our 2nd Anniversary. Its amazing how time flies so quickly. It seems like we just celebrated our 1st anniversary, definitely doesn't seem like it was a year ago.

As I look back on the last year I look at all of the things that we have done. We moved into Orchard Court, I got a new job, we went away to Lincoln City, I got another new job, we got pregnant, I stopped working, David graduated, David got a job, and we moved here to Salem. Insane how much can go on with just two people. I can't imagine how much busier we will be once we have kids. It's going to be crazy!
I am so lucky to be married to David. He is so amazing and treats me so well. He puts up with so much from me. He worked so hard while he was in school so he could get a good job and provide for our family, and he works so hard now to learn his new position so he can excel to his fullest. He has a strong testimony of the gospel. He holds the priesthood with honor and appreciates the opportunity to utilize it when necessary. He is an amazing husband, friend, and soon to be Father. I love you David and look forward to the years to come and eternity!

Caffeine During Pregnancy

Alright, I always said that when I am pregnant I don't want to drink soda. And I did well for awhile, but after 4 months of only drinking water, you need something else. I don't really like juice so that doesn't work well for me, it's too sweet. So, at my last appointment I asked my Dr. if drinking soda would be okay, and she said it would be fine. So every once in awhile I will snag a Diet Coke and it keeps the water from tasting like crap.
Today I was curious at the amounts of caffeine that are okay to drink while pregnant. I usually will only have a can, once in awhile I'll get a 32 oz. big gulp and fill it with ice and then soda. So I don't really exceed 16 oz. a day, and it's not every day. I was concerned thinking that it might be too much. So I jump online and this is what I found...

Guidelines issued by the Food Standards Agency, the Department of Health and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommend that women have no more than 300mg of caffeine a day while pregnant. This is equivalent to three mugs of instant coffee or six cups of tea or eight cans of cola per day. Most research to-date has suggested that these moderate amounts of caffeine are unlikely to harm you or your unborn baby.

Holy crap! Seriously, 8 cans of cola a day. Can you imagine. I may have been a Diet Coke fiend before in my life, but I doubt I have EVER consumed 8 cans of cola in a day. That just grosses me out. But I do feel better now about the little amounts that I have cheated and drank! :) Just thought I would share this with everyone!
