Bed Pocket

We don't have room for our nightstands in our room anymore and I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out a solution to our spacially challenged master bedroom. Than I found this tutorial and thought, "Self, you can do this. This is totally within you sewing ability." So off to Joanns I went in search for fabric that would perfect in our room. In the home decor section I found it and while watching 90210 and The Biggest Loser, I finished a pair of bed pockets.

I am in love with how they turned out and with the fabric. I can fit my book light (right now it is a huge mag lite but I will downsize when I can get to the bookstore) and Gone With The Wind (a 1000 page book). Ty is excited because he can put his gun in his. Have I mentioned lately that I married a closet red neck? Yuma brought it out in him and he can't suppress it like he used to. He wants me to get him this but a girl has to put her foot down at some point.
They really are super easy to make if you are looking for a simple yet fun solution to making a home for you books but can't squeeze in a night stand.

Leave of Absense

Wow,it has been a long time...okay maybe only a week but that feels like a long time to go without blogging. Poor Elsie has had a rough few weeks. Within a matter of a few days she got a nasty cold and her two top teeth came in. Than, just this week, the cold only got worse and one more tooth decided to make an appearance. With Ty having finals this week and still trying to get settled in, I was going out of my mind and was trying everything to get my happy baby back. A big thanks to everyone who answered my phone calls and gave me suggestions on how to take care of her congestion and fevers and for letting me borrow things (Maren, the humidifier was a life saver...thank you sooo much for letting me borrow it)! Today, after a long medical leave, my happy, sweet, content baby is back! And just in time to receive an adorable present from my good friend Christie.
Yesterday, Christie stopped by and gave Elsie this adorable onesie and pair of shoes!

Than I went a little picture happy and got these pics so that you can see her toothy grin...she has the biggest gap between her two upper teeth, it makes Ty and I laugh all the time. I keep hoping her teeth will just be really big once they come all the way in but the gap is a little too big...those teeth would have to be REALLY large for that to happen.

Move 5.0

I haven't had a chance to hook up our internet so I am stealing my neighbors wireless feed but I need a break from unpacking and thought I would blog about being back in Mesa. Yesterday, after all the boxes and furniture were moved in, after our dear neighbors made sure we were set for dinner today and another set of friends came by and brought us yummy Chipotle for dinner for that night, Ty and I just sat at our table and said, "We are home."
Sure, we now live in a one bedroom condo that we will share with our little Elsie, but it feels like home.
Sure, we don't have a whole lot of storage space and are becoming very creative about how and where we put things, but its home.
Sure, we live in the ghetto, but it is home.
Sure, we don't have a yard to let Marley roam around in and I have to take her out, but its home.
When we left for Yuma a year a half ago, I never thought we would be back in our condo but our hearts never left this area and this ward, it has always been home.
Today in church, we were surrounded by familiar faces and knew people's names and they knew us. The primary children stood up to sing a song and two little girls kept trying to get their parent's attention and would mouth and point, "The Manning's are here." It was hilarious!
Our "laundry room" is now a closet, our "garage" is also a closet, the "nursery" is one half of our room and the other half is the "master bedroom." Our dinning room is really just the same as our living room and our "yard" is a 25x35 patch of grass that we share with the surrounding units, but this is all okay because it is home!!
We couldn't be more thrilled to be back here and so close to our amazing friends that we have and to be a part of the Stewart Ward once again. Its great to be home!
