Welcome

I hope to share my little ups and downs though life in a small town with hopes and dreams of the country life. With that I have learned to bloom where you are planted.

Wonders of Spring

The sun is shining and the flowers continue to bloom. With that a few pics for the week and figures crossed we don't get a hard freeze. Some of my flower are so delicate that a hard freeze would just make them die. Of course some are just getting started like my Peonies.

I can't wait for them to bloom! Please ignore the ground around these fresh starts. I need to do lot of yard clean up.

These sweet bleeding heart are so delicate I wish I could bring them in the house. As flowers continue to bloom I have to have a bouquet on my table!

This week I added tulips to my daffodils. I lot of tulip started to bloom so hopefully many more bouquets.

If you are close to the Willamette Valley in Oregon make sure you take in the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival. The flowers are really starting to pop! You can catch them on Facebook and see some of their wonderful pictures!

I hope everyone is starting to enjoy Spring and to bloom where you are planted!

SPRING IS HERE!

Finally!!! Spring to me kicks off when a friend and I attend Garden Palooza. This is where approximately forty nurseries get together and have this outside show and sell all kinds of flower, shrubs and garden art. It is eye candy for a gardener. Then they make home made donuts, died here!! This year it was applesauce or Marion berry donuts, needless to say Marion berry were devoured. I got so wrapped up in shopping that I forgot to take any pictures.

But I took a few pictures of flowers starting to pop in my yard to share with you.

The tulips are starting to open, can't wait for more of them! I must have over a hundred bulbs of all colors. I can get carried away sometimes.

Daffodils always make me smile. Here is just a few of them blooming. As you can see I am not a photographer or do I have Photo shop. That is still on my wish list!

A small bouquet made it into the house. I love flowers in the house it just simply makes me happy.

Hopefully Spring has arrived for you and the flowers are blooming along with your spirits!

SIMPLE WOES

Am I the only one in the world that has extremely ticklish feet? I've tried to blame it on my brother for as kids he thought it was funny to tickle me until I couldn't breathe. Seriously I would laugh so hard it took my breath away. Now after all these years I know I am missing out on these supposedly fun things. I'm talking about foot massages, maybe from someone special. How about pedicures with girlfriends.

So it was time to be brave and face this queasy problem of mine. I've always polished my own toes and can start laughing even doing it myself. I wanted pretty toes to go on vacation where I would be wearing flip flops most of the time. Now you have to understand that my feet are as long as they are wide. In other words, short and fat. So pretty feet aren't in the picture but pretty toes, maybe. With the help of a girlfriend we made appointments to have our toes polish. Baby steps here!!! This tells you how behind the times I am, do you know they paint flowers and rhinestones on toes?

I did it and I survived! I may never paint my toes again. It took a pep talk but I am so glad I did. Now isn't this silly, how something so simply has wasted so much of my time worry about this. This is what you call life is too short to sweat the small things. On to pretty toes forever, well at least until they really get old and shriveled up!!!

I'M BACK

Yes, that is right, I'm back from vacation! Does it mean I want to be back to cold rainy Oregon, Nooooooooo! Costa Rica was a little slice of Heaven on Earth. It was so relaxing, well that is the way I made it. You could find numerous activities to do that would keep you busy for weeks. I choose to kick back and relax in warmth.

A few activities I did do was horse back riding on a volcano, zip line down the volcano, mud baths, hot mineral baths and a lot of eating wonderful food.

This picture is for Cheryl of Blue Sky Farms, http://k-fallsfarmgirl.blogspot.com I just wanted her to know I really did zip line and I loved it! The canopy of trees and water falls were wonderful to view from this height.

This was our view for watching the tsunami warning while at Costa Rica. Our villa was up off the beach so we were safe. We never noticed any extra wave action. The devastation is Japan is so sad and difficult to watch.

Upon returning home it was a down pour of rain, I was wondering if I got my months confused. These certainly weren't Spring Showers! But at last there is a little break and I could see a small rainbow out the back yard.

I sure hope it dries up soon otherwise my flowers may drown.

I do have daffodils blooming and I have a bouquet on my dining table. Now if someone could tell me how I got underline on it would be appreciated.

HOLD ON GERTRUDE!

Guess What? I think Spring is really on it's way! It's been so wet and rainy lately that I haven't even ventured out into my yard. You got it, Yep that right, Spring is coming!! It's like the crocus opened over night.
Then the shocker of all shockers, I have daffodils blooming? Where have I been, oh thats right, snuggled in my house trying to stay dry and warm. They must not have noticed our temps are really below normal for this time of the year.

Don't they have happy faces, they make me smile! Yes, I do believe Spring is on the way!

CABINETS GONE

All the old cabinets in my kitchen are gone! Yippee, Skippy!!! My son came over from Central Oregon to help. You know that muscle thing with lifting. So progress is being made. You see that vent pipe, now that is scary in my book. Who knows what can come down that thing. So I put a zip lock baggie with duck tape on it for extra measures. You know the boogie man could be small and sneak down to get me!
So now I need to sheet rock the wall extension and do some floor repair. So what better then to start at 9 pm working on the floor. Who said I do things normal? So I've been down on the floor taking up icky old sub floor and some old vinyl to have a good base for new cabinets.

There is one thing I have forgot, I'm not as young as I use to be. Help I can't get up! After almost two hours on my knees and tush I've found that floor is a long ways down there. Yes, those are slipper on my feet, ah, safety slippers for construction, okay!

There is one decision I haven't made. What am I doing to the floor, new vinyl, wood floor or tile. Still trying to figure this one out. Thank goodness my son has his own flooring business and I(Mom) will smile sweetly when installation time comes.

As you can guess I did manage to get off the floor for this post. But now it is time I take this body to bed.
