I hope to share my little ups and downs though life in a small town with hopes and dreams of the country life. With that I have learned to bloom where you are planted.

I'M OFF

No I'm not off to see the wizard. Even more fun! A girlfriend and I are headed to the NW Sewing & Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA. It is always a good time learning new things and of course the shopping. I had a little difficult time with classes this year. I only got two of the ones I signed up for. It seem my friend has better luck. We sent our registration in within two days of each other and she got all of her classes. Next year I am sending my registration in her envelop. This happened the previous year also. I really wanted the hands on class of rag rug with Pendelton wool strips. So now my friend will have to teach me.

Now confession time. Last year I spent way too much money!!! Yikes, but easy to do. Here is the confession, I don't have but one of the project complete that I either purchase patterns or kits for. Shame, shame on me! But where does the time go. I look at it this way at least I have the pattern when I get the time. So it may be in assistant living home and the aids will have to help me with it. Does this tell you how many different patterns I purchased last year. Oops! I have made several apron from a pattern I got there. See I'm not so bad.

So this year I am going on a budget, LOL, LOL really and truly I am trying. I am leaving my credit card home. If I don't have the cash I don't buy. Oh please give me the strength to resist!! Can you tell I have problems with will power.

I'll be back on blogging on Monday and tell you how I did.

My Girls

The girls have been out doing themselves. I only have five hens but they sure have been laying. Maybe they think Spring is just around the corner. I have been giving dozens of eggs to my kids. I can only eat so many!

I have to tell you a funny story about my 30+ daughter. When my little chicks grew up and starting laying I didn't give eggs away. So about two years ago when I gave her a dozen eggs she was afraid to eat them. We had to have a little talk on mass produce eggs in the store versus free range eggs. She now is convinced these are better. There for awhile I wondered where I went wrong on raising her. I usually give then the larger brown ones and I keep the smaller ones from my bantams. They all eat the same in my book! So I add two to a recipe when it calls for one.

Just to let you know it is raining today so the sunny weather has gone away. But the temps are still holding at mild!!!

Enjoy June

Another Day

Yes, it was another beautiful day. Another day spent pruning shrubs. I could hardly finish picking up the limbs and the girls moved in. You would think I spread a bag of candy down for them.

They are loving the sunshine and I think they are even enjoying me being out in the yard with them They spent a large percent of the day following me around. Well I suppose it was the fresh dirt I exposed, maybe!!

Of course we had the supervisor out with us. Jazi made sure the girls stayed rounded up. She is a great chicken herd dog, LOL.

A great weekend was had but I sure didn't get any house work done. Those dust bunnies will have to wait until next weekend for the weatherman is predicting rain.

The Perfect Day

Oh what a day yesterday was. Today is looking the same. It sure does feel like Spring and I am going to enjoy it while it last. We do seem to get another blast of winter in March. The day was spent outside working. I first mowed the yard but I didn't cut it very short, still protecting it from frost. Then onto pruning shrubs and roses. I never prune my roses until after President's Day.

As you can see the lawn is a little ruff yet, plus I have a pile of branches to haul.

The roses are trimmed now come June they will be in full bloom.

Oh, and there was time for a break. Yes, I am wearing a tank top. Okay so it was only in the sixties but with working it was plenty warm. My skin truly needed some sun, call me florescent White!

My down fall !

Don't I deserve a treat after working all day. They are in the stores now and calling my name. These little eggs get me every year. After about three bags I get my fill for another year.

It's off to outside again for another beautiful day. Rather you are still knee deep in snow or enjoying a day like I'm having, I am sending you love, joy and a ray of sunshine!

Oh Happy Days!

What a beautiful day! It put joy in my heart and lifts my spirits. Here are a few pictures of my drive to work this morning. Who couldn't be in a wonderful mood.

It's hard to see but I've got the bug out. No the top isn't down but it was fun to drive this morning.

The hops fields during the winter months.

No I don't have to drive gravel roads to work but choose it this morning for it's peacefulness!

Mt Hood in the distance.

We made it, the old bug and I. I'm in my parking spot at work and can you tell I don't work in the city. I am so thankful that my office building is in the country. Can you see the frost on the ground here at work. A little chilly but will be 60 soon!

I wish everyone a blessed wonderful day!

The Scrapbookers

While I was at the coast busy working on my rental the girls took over my house. This is an annual event. By the time President's Day three day weekend arrives I usually have cabin fever. I plan a three day outing away. My daughter in law is a wonderful scrapbookers. Her and several of her girlfriends take over my house. Wow, do they have the supplies. They have a wonderful and productive weekend. No kids, no hubbies, no pets so that means no interruptions. They eat, laugh and scrapbook for three to four days. I will share some of there layout at a later date, that is if they share. Even if they don't I will steal there photos from a couple of there blogs.

There were five gals in all but I wasn't able to get them all together before I left or after I returned home. It is really fun watching them establish there circle of friendship. They all come from different cities but have met at various scrapbook events. I'm sure they will keep there friendship for a lifetime.

I still have a circle of friends that we get together several times during the year. We have managed to move to various cities with jobs, family but still keep that friendship tie. Wishing everyone a wonderful circle of girlfriends.

Landlord

Yes that is me, I am a landlore. Do I want to be a landlord, NO!!!!!!!! I have this house that I inherited at the Coast. No it is not at the beach, actually about 7 miles from the beach. Her is the problem. It is a very nice large house well was nice. It is not meant to be a rental but when I inherited from my parents I wasn't prepared to sell it. Was it the emotional tie or the tuck my head in the sand and not face it. I am very appreciative that they wanted me to have it but it sure does come with a line of challenges. The last set of renters seem to be very good renters until about 6 months ago when they fell behind on rent. Then they gave there notice and moved out. I had checked on the house at various times and all seemed well. But remember I live about 90 miles away, so I'm a long distance landlord.

Now you know why have I been missing from blogging. I have been cleaning, cleaning, painting, painting for days now. How can people leave houses like this. If any of you can explain to me why a renter would cut carpet in the living room and lay tile, but not the whole room. Take up one counters in kitchen and put fake granite tile squares down. The list could go on and on.

I am completely over the emotionals attackment to this house. So I want to sell it and relieve the stress this place is causes me. But I think we all know the real estate market currently. So I am working and spending lots of time and money getting this house back in rental condition.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I am so tired and so out of shape!! I have muscles aching where I didn't even know I have them. So the remainder of this week I will rest up, go to my regular job so I can hit it again next weekend. I am aming for having it ready by April 1st.

Enjoy!

Home- made gifts!

In this day and age you can go out and buy pretty much anything you want. Of course the budget does get in the way. I so enjoy receiving home-made gift that I am trying really hard to only give home-made gifts. A friend is having a birthday and she also is a wine fan. Her kitchen is decorated in grapes and wine bottle. So I decided she needed an apron to go with her kitchen. I sure wish I had a mannequin to use while taken pictures. Oh well, the chair will have to do. And I don't even like the chair. It is an inherited dinning room set that is not my taste. Another dilemma and future post.
The photos make it look drab but the colors really are brighter. I never said I was a photographer! I think I am getting tired of this pattern so need to find another one. She is also getting a knitted dish rag. I just need more time in my day to get everything done I want.

Blessings

Chatty June can't talk!

Okay, tell me what is with this laryngitis?? I woke up Friday morning and couldn't say a word. Feeling fine and went work. Over the weekend went to the Coast still feeling fine. But this is the worst punishment you can give me!! I am known to be on the chatty side, okay, I down right like to talk. Today I can make a little sound but still can't talk. Okay, enough complaining the weather today is wonderful. To all of you on the eastern side I am thinking of you with more snow on the way. I'm just posting one picture of my morning drive.

Just a little fog in the valley which lifted to a gorgous day.

Wish me luck on talking tomorrow and yes, there are way worse things to have. I am truely thankful for my health.

Fertilizer Friday Flaunt

I follow a blog who has followers post picture of flowers on Friday. http://www.tootsietime.com/ Since I am new to blogging I thought, why not!!! I would be happy to post a picture of my yard last summer.

As you can see this picture was taken before I did some clipping of spent blooms, but you still get the idea. That is George sitting on the planter. He had such a wonderful voice but had to find a new home. Neighbors complained! He was cute though!

There is only one Rhodie in bloom and a rose but look how my strawberries took over there box. I have trimmed them back so hopefully this year they will still produce a lot. Nothing like fresh strawberries on my cereal in the morning.

Remember, remember it is only February and you can't get too excited yet!!!! I so want to dig in the dirt. My green house didn't get built last year like planned. This year for sure!!!!!!!

I'm so excited it is Friday!!! Enjoy your weekend!!! I'm off to go work on a rental at the coast.

Picking the spirts up

I had been contemplating redoing my living for sometime. It seem it was too dark!! I am a person who really enjoys light or should I say I needs daylight. So I wanted a green wall, lime green but decided to tame it down a little. I thought I would leave the other walls tan. Still thinking on this one. Well all I had to do was mention this to my daughter and walla! First I get a call and she say "I bought you a new coffee table and end table at a garage sale today". Okay, will I like it? Yes, you will was the answer!! Then I take a vacation and come home to wall painted, new TV armoir, coffee table and end table moved in. But she didn't like my sofa. So guess what? She finds me a sofa on craiglist while I'm out of town for the weekend. So the following picture is what I came home too. I just love her!!!!!!!

Now this was all done this past fall and I have lived with this for a few months now. I'm still loving it but not sure I like the tan walls. You can only see a tiny look at my love seat which is a red and cream buffalo check . It does have a green windowpane plaid running over the checks which does blend with the green wall. My daughter is not a fan of it, but it is not leaving. Now the problem is I tend to be a pack rat so I'm trying really, really hard not to clutter it up. I tend to like all kinds of cherished possessions. She tend to call them junk. Yes, I did find some at a junk sale. So I am resisting!!! So now does anyone have a suggestion for a complementry wall color to the green?

Blessings,

June

PS I had to fine a picture of the love seat! It has wood rockers, just something I love.

Lift your spirts.

Flowers have a way of brightening any day. I love them in my yard, garden , in the house and on my desk at work.

I am a lucky one for there is a bulb company close to my office. The owner brings me flowers this time of the year. These are seconds so they don't ship them out. I'll take seconds any day. The tulip festival starts in March and wow the fields are gorgous at that time. Don't worry I will post pictures when they come in bloom.

The weatherman say we will hit 55 tomorrow. Wonder if the ground hog will see his shadow? I'm sure with the warmer weather all my flowers will start to poke their heads up and then we will get a blast of cold, freezing weather the end of February. So I need to stay focused in the house get some more sewing projects completed.

Does anyone still patch jeans? I have a brother who thinks I can patch any hole he has in his work jeans. My mother use to patch his jeans and his wife or daughters never picked up sewing. So that leaves me to work wonders since Mom is no longer with us.

Blessings,

June

I"M READY

What a beautiful day yesterday was. I am so ready for Spring and getting out in the yard. I purchased new garden gloves so not just wait. The sun was out and I did get a few things accomplished. I pruned some roses and of course clean the chicken coop.

I also hung my new suet bird feeded. A friend from Central Oregon made this out of small lodge poll pine. I made a couple of suet bars so lets hope I get lots of birds soon.

As you can see in the one picture of the feeder I have plenty of yard maintainence to do. I can't wait to sit in the lawn chair, sipping ice tea and soaking up sun. I think I need to adjust the weathervane on the garden shed. Funny how you can look at something everyday and not notice until you see it in a picture. This is the view I have out my kitchen window so hopefully soon I will be watching birds.
Enjoy your day!
