I'm a bit late this week because we've been staying in a castle in Spain and there's no internet because the walls are too thick!!

My moment was a coffee and a muffin alone...a very precious commodity during our trip.

Gorgeous pink flowers from both of us this week. 

I found gorgeous pom pom dahlias in my neighbour's lovely cottagey garden (she lets me pick them when she's away) and Karin found beautiful cherry blossoms during a mini-break in Brussells.

This week I found some autumn colour and marvelled at the contrast of the warm and cooler hues.

Karin has been working in her greenhouse (I love the sound of that) planting new seeds and tending to her others.

It's now less than 4 weeks until we set off on our grand European adventure - I'm nervous and super excited.  Over the weekend I bought a new camera* for travelling (it will fit in my handbag and takes super pictures) and started re-reading some of the guide books.  I need to read the manual now too.  So much to do

This week I found the last vestiges of summer in my garden (the ballerina cosmos come up from seed and surprise me every year) and Karin enjoyed the last gasps of winter on a skiing trip with friends.

I'm cheating a bit this week with a collage - but when I saw the similarity between the snap I took 6 years ago of my children at Port Arthur (in the church with no roof) and the shot I took this week I couldn't resist.  Look how those legs and that hair has grown.  And there's a boy now too :-)

Karin has found the most lush collection of ranunculi I have ever seen - I am so in love with this image  - I would love it on a card for my wall.

I made my first ever cheesecake (recipe here) as Lily had been asking to try one for ages.  It was a lemon one (with lemons from our tree) and I was super impressed that it came out of the tin in one piece - and tasted amazing.

Karin found the prettiest irises - an early spring this year for her.

I've been hanging onto summer with gorgeous bright dahlias and outdoor meals while Karin is looking forward to spring with new plantings and brighter light.

Looking for joy each week is a lot like being grateful - the more I do it, the more I find.

I loved watching Jack's face as he blew dandelion clocks and told the time over the weekend (his daddy's face was pretty good too - he went and dug them up soon after!).

Karin had a hard time choosing one photo this week as she did a fun food related photo shoot and also went to some local gardens and found some gorgeous camellias.  I haven't been to our local botanical gardens for ages.. but now I'm planning a trip.

I can't believe its taken until week 6 for us both to choose flowers!

Jack, following in his mother's footsteps, foraged these gorgeous coral gum blossoms from near the beach yesterday and I just had to get out the macro lens.

Karin has been sick and bought this beautiful bunch to cheer herself up.  Her styling is always so lovely.

~ our joyful moments - week 4 ~

More joyful moments from our collaborative 52 week project.

I had some quiet moments walking round the garden yesterday morning whilst everyone else was still in bed.  The morning light made these little daisies glow....they looked so very lovely.

Karin is finding warmth in the winter time with these sweet clementines.  I can never find them here...but I do enjoy some winter citrus, especially when its this pretty.

~ our joyful moments - week 3 ~

This week Karin and I have both chosen landscape shots.

Mine is the familiar and inviting landscape of my very own bed - probably the thing I missed the most whilst we were at the shack - I sleep so much better in my own bed.

Karin has chosen a much less cosy shot - but she found such stark beauty on her walk - how different to the hot, dry landscapes here at the moment.

~ joyful moments of 2014 ~

Today is the first day of a 52 week project for 2014 in collaboration with the lovely Karin A.

We'll be taking photos each week  - on a very broad theme of joyful moments - and blogging and instagramming them (#ourjoyfulmoments).

Karin was lucky enough to find cherry blossoms in January whereas I am at the beach (and its still freezing).  This is the same beach we came to for many of the summers of my childhood and now I am creating new memories for my own family as we spend our summers here.  It's a very special place for me - even more so when I get the chance to spend some time alone out there.

I'm super excited about this weekly project - stay tuned for more joyful moments.
