The Maize • Birthday Party

We had a great time at Gage's birthday party. It was on a day when the kids were out of school so we were all invited. I loved it because it gave us something to look forward to. Tyler loved the hay ride to to the pumpkin patch where he picked his very own little pumpkin.

Cock•a•too

At Tyler's preschool field trip to PetCo Vicki pointed out that Ty and the Cockatoos had similar hair styles. I had to laugh! So now when Ty goes with Kelby to get fish food at the "fish store" a.k.a. PetCo he has to show him his favorite birds.

Ashley is getting the "Jerry DaBell" bug of photography that is. My dad took her out this summer and taught her a few things. So every now and then she grabs my camera (when I let her) and just takes random pictures. Some of them are quite good and artistic. Good job Ash!

Soccer

It's that time of the year again when school starts and then soccer follows. This year I'm Ashley's assistant coach. Its been really fun getting to actually kicking the ball around again and playing with the kids. I also like the extra time I get to spend with Ashley.

Fruits of my labor....

I had to do something with all these peaches. For some reason I have been against canning, I guess I just thought it was easier and cheaper to go to Costco to get what I needed. But when you have the fruit growing in your back yard, what are you to do? I guess I had to learn. Amy Ashby taught me all her tricks. Pots here pots there, peaches in and out. Pealing and cutting and of course her magic trick with the butter knife. That woman is a pro. She has like 10 things going at once. Thank you Amy for helping me. It only took 8 hours to can 30 pints. Our peach tree was loaded with tons of peaches this year. We still aren't sure how exactly take care of it properly. So the poor branches were touching the ground. We did have to use bungee cords to hold the tree together.

No More Diapers!!!

Now that the girls were off to school. We were going to focus on potty training Tyler. During the summer I would take him to the underwear section of the store and he would always look at them and say which ones he liked but the second I put them in the cart he would have a hissy fit. So I had to go out when he wasn't with me and get some really cool ones. We've been talking about wearing underwear when the girls went back to school so Tyler new it was coming soon. On the girls 1st day of school I gave Tyler the ultimatum "you can either put these cool undies on or go naked" he cried in his room for a while but then came out with the underwear in his hands and wanted help putting them on. From then on it was a piece of cake even at night time. He's only had 2 accidents and pretty much does everything himself except wiping #2. You can say I'm pretty proud of my little guy!
