~ Mister's Birthday ~

To celebrate Mister's birthday we headed downtown for brunch~

The Genius took alot of pictures~ we just love this place.....it's gorgeous.

I am always inspired here....

~ Birthday Fun & a Sweet Gift ~

Hi friends~

I have missed ya'll~ I guess I took a teeny, little blog break. We've just been so busy...with the genius' games, ( facebook games ) and work....did I mention work? Since I went back on 10/1 they have had me full throttle....no time to ease back in to normal life for me.

Well, some of you may know this already but I turned 30-something last Thursday. Thank you to all my blog friends, message board friends and my facebook friends...for the good wishes. My heart....is smiling.

Thursday began as a stormy, rainy day....I went to work, a co-worker brought me my favorite Starbucks coffee, they bought me a card and a carrot cake...yumm. They all signed the card saying I am the best boss ever....sweet huh? I think they want to schedule their vacations. j/k. I have a a good crew. Since we get a paid day off for our birthday { yeah! } I decided to just leave early Thursday and take off Friday.....{ double yeah }.

When I got home the sun was shining ( bringing in some much cooler weather. ) I knew Mister had a special dinner planned...but I had a suprise in the mail, too! Mister said " You got something from your friend " Cindy @ just another day in paradise (her blog is private) but her sewing blog isn't. :)

She is super talented, super sweet and we are alike in many many ways. When I opened the gift....I cried....real tears. She made this beautiful table runner with her own two hands. This truly is a special gift. I have been a long time fan of her work....and teased her often....like...." hello, I just came by to get my quilt" or " where IS my quilt? " I hope I didn't bully her too much. But, somehow I know she just made this from her heart. That is priceless.

I quickly e-mailed her a thank you but I wish I could give her a great big hug!

For now, it's on my coffee table but it fits my breakfast table perfectly, too. The rest of Thursday was very nice. Mister made a really great dinner, steak, shrimp, baked potato, wheat rolls and asparagus....now please don't gasp over the paper plates but since Mister & the genius were doing the dishes...they opted for paper...lol.

Later on we decided to go for ice-cream.... It was a great birthday. Have a beautiful week!

~ Mammaw's Birthday & The Beach ~

Hi friends~

First, I wanted to thank you all again....so many times when I read your comments your words bring tears to my eyes. You all mean so much to me....I'm truly blessed to have such special friends. THANK YOU!

Now, time for Mammaw's 74th birthday!

The next morning we watched the sunrise and wondered if it might rain...

and it did.....all the way to Galveston Island....

But then just before we crossed the bridge....the sun came out....

The beach was beautiful...

clear skies....with gentle waves....

Then we HAD to stop for frozen yogurt....it was soooo good!

We had a pedicure~

& played in the sand...

and we all

posed for pictures.... then shopped on The Strand.

It was a great day! Later that evening we met my in-laws for an Italian dinner and then we went to Cirque de Soleil.....I failed to take more pictures ( I was too full...lol. ) but the show was amazing and we enjoyed the good company. Thanks 'Mil & Fil'. :)

~ Birthday Weekend...the Finale~

So, I had to find a way to throw a suprise party for the genius....Mister took her to Schlitterbaun water park Saturday morning to get her out of the house....my excuse to stay home was a real excuse as we had some work done on the house that day. It was kind of crazy around here so I didn't get hardly any pictures of the decor. I was BUSY getting things together. I had plates & cups, stashed in my trunk for days trying to keep this party a secret. Family & her boyfriend picked up the cake & food that we ordered earlier in the week and even put icing on the cupcakes...lol.

Boyfriend brought her these flowers...beautiful aren't they?

I made these yummy cupcakes....had help with the frosting and added the dollop of icing on top.

She opened her goodies ( aren't those jeans terrible....that's what I get for throwing her a party after she was all water logged...lol. )

We served sandwiches from Sam's ( the croissant ones...they were GREAT ) vegetable trays, crackers, cheese trays, dips, cake, ice cream, cupcakes, punch....we had tons of food.

Well, that's it! She said she had the best weekend of her life....so I guess we did good. :)

Oh, one more skydiving thing....I thought this sign was funny~ this is posted as you walk up to the airplane hanger.
