Development

Technology has advanced beyond imagination. (May be technical people always set their goals beyond a layman’s imagination J). Man has reached moon, planning to reach the other 7 or 8 planets and satellites. Have we advanced in human values? Do we live in a righteous way?
I am trying to find out an answer for these questions since yesterday but I am unsuccessful so far, my mind or soul or what ever I can call it, is giving me a plain NO as the asnwer to my question. A negative answer is making me think about it again and again but my mind is reluctant to change the answer.

I got my promotion yesterday. It was a good moment. All my work had paid off and I truly felt I deserve it, although there were some who felt the other way. But that’s not the question here. I regularly speak to one of my seniors I have worked under her. She was pretty much good to me. But after getting my promotion letter her attitude towards me has changed, she didn’t even bother to congratulate me and obviously she has not spoken to me afterwards.

What intrigues me in the whole scene is, my question about human development. Have we lost the capacity to be happy for others?

If my mind is right then I feel we are developing in the reverse direction and we will very soon reach a dead end.

Friend

I had been to a friend’s house this weekend. (She had prepared a delicious dinner)
When I think of her ,I always remember our 5th Standard days,
She was the closest friend to me then. As time passed by, our way of thinking changed and
It became difficult to express my thoughts with her, but still we are good friends.

She was the first one to become mother among my friends. So may be I will always have a special place for her daughter.

Relationship does get evolved with time, some times with out notice and some times deliberately. But they are always beautiful.

Old lady and Jasmine tree

Old spacious houses fascinate me. I remember a beautiful and strong old lady who must have been an excellent cook (hum khaana khaane kahin bhi jaa sakte hain J), a bossy patriarch of the house (Old lady’s husband) so on and so forth. They must have lived there once upon a time with their families. Now either they are either too old to decide the course of things or they are no more and that’s why the ‘home’ they built with so much love and affection is giving way to malls and shopping complexes.

I used to visit one of friend in her PG (Paying Guest) house, in South End Circle. It was a old house again. It had a old couple too. The rooms were very spacious unlike the apartments of today. I loved the grace in the Old lady’s face and a Jasmine tree in that compound. My friend got married and I did not go to that road again. I went to that road after 2-3 months and to my surprise, the house had vanished and a huge complex stood as a replacement.

What causes us demolish the ‘home’ we grew up? The same ‘home’ which protected us from so many hardships of life. Where Amma taught us ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya’, where Appa slapped us for lying, where we fought with siblings for an extra piece of sweet.
May be I know the answer also, Money.

I remember reading a tribal story with a moral that, when you loose everything to earn money, you will understand that you cannot eat money!

I am a nice person !!

I feel happy when people say nice things about me (May be it’s true in everyone’s case).

Today I heard one of my very good colleagues say nice things about me. For a moment I was flattered. Before it was sunken in I realized, some of it is not true. He has said that I never shout on some one at least he has not heard me doing so. It’s true that I do not loose patience in Office regularly but at home it’s a common scene. I just remembered poor sis who listens to my wrath every day.

Some times I hurt people severely. (Vice versa is also true J).
Any way happy to know that I have a come a long way to realize that I am not a perfect persona and people bear me for various reasons.
