Because I'm Happppppy!
Once those lyrics get in my head….glee is inevitable…it's time for skipping…wiggling…clapping, bouncing with the pup, smiles... smiles… and layering of vibrant garden hues that make me…..

SherbeT {shur'bit}
I couldn't get the color scheme of sherbet out of my mind when working on a recent diptych…Sherbet ….Sixties…Sweet…Innocent…Young...
Inspiration from a generous friend who gifted me a slew of treasures including sewing patterns {Thank You Norma and Tam} followed by a couple of Better Homes and Gardens cookbooks published in the early 60's bought at a local flea market when visiting family…
Explorations of the early 60's…Memories of our family routines that are so different from today…I'm not sure there is a person out there who could keep up with our parents' schedules… I can't...
Comforting rituals…..more to follow in this series!

Homage to Lilly P
While working on my new contemporary figure series, I finished this piece...
Lots of wonderful texture on this piece created with acrylics and gels. I also included acrylic skins on the focal point flower.
My inspiration was Lilly Pulitzer. She was quite well known for her "preppy Palm Beach" style. Bright pinks and greens are her trademark.
According to Wikipedia: "Lilly and husband Peter Pulitzer settled in Palm Beach, Florida, shortly after their marriage. Peter owned several Florida citrus orange groves, and with produce from the groves Lilly opened a juice stand on Via Mizner, just off Worth Avenue in Palm Beach. In the course of working at the juice stand, Lilly found that squeezing juice made a mess of her clothes. Seeking to camouflage the juice stains, she designed a sleeveless shift dress made of bright, colorful printed cotton. She found that customers loved her dress, so she produced more in order to sell them at her juice stand. Eventually, she was selling more dresses than juice, and decided to focus on designing and selling what had become known as her "Lillys".[4]" Who knew?

Stay
I've been painting.....
I started the background with a newspaper my husband brought back from China awhile ago. Even though I have not a clue what it says, I love the look of the written language. I chose not to do alot of imagery layering rather lots of acrylic glaze with my paint for the transparent effect.....
A special symbol and message....paints, mediums, inks and charcoal...
have carried me to this point for now....
