Before the Wade Quigley Family Reunion over the 4th of July weekend, I took this quilt to a lady in town so she could quilt it for me on her long arm machine. Upon our return, there was a message on the phone saying it was done. Now for the final step: binding it. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough co-ordinating material left for the binding. The right fabric wasn't to be found in Elko. We only have one fabric shop (Wal Mart doesn't count) so Kendell helped me look along the Wasatch Front a few weeks later when we were there. He spotted just the right bolt of fabric that I needed for the border. I bought a little extra for good measure, and had enough left over to make some matching pillow cases.
I've been working on this quilt for about a year, but I must say that every step of the way was a joy - from the fabric selection, to the piecing and sewing, to the binding. There were several women in the quilting community who were a tremendous help to me as they shared their quilting knowledge whenever I had a question.
I've decided that quiting could easily become a passion for me. I don't think I'll go overboard and eat, drink and sleep quilt projects 24/7. But I do love to sew and create things, weather it be by machine or by hand. It truly brings me joy and gives me a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment (when the project turns out right.) I already have a pattern in mind for my next quilt, which will go on our bed to complete the redecoration of our master bedroom. It might not be finished for another year or two, but that's OK. It will eventually get done - one quilt block at a time.

, she brought back this little stuffed lamb for Audrey (top left of photo). Audrey loves it to death and often falls asleep clutching it.
Today was clean-up day for the Elko/Spring Creek area. This is an annual event where the city solicits help from the residents to help with the area's spring cleaning. Along with this event, they allow free access to the city landfill.
