Spring 2018

We have had a very eventful and fun 2018. We enjoyed a visit from Steve's sister Jill. She came all the way from Logan, Utah to spend her Spring Break with us. We loved having her in our home. She is a great workout buddy and just a fun person to be around. Jill and I went to observe Steve teach, and that was an interesting experience. College is sure different than when I went to school. We took her on some adventures around Lubbock and when we ran out of things to do in Texas we took a trip to Carlsbad, New Mexico to see the caverns. The night before we left I was doing some research and found out that the elevators to the main part of the caverns were being repaired. That meant we all would have to walk the 4.5 miles which was compared to 79 flights of stairs. I had to stop and really think if I wanted to do that with the kids. We all decided to go for it. It was well worth the trip and the walking. The caverns are absolutely amazing and I was in awe that such a place exists. I love nature and experiencing these different parts of the world. As we were hiking in I payed close attention to those people hiking out as we were making our way in. I was getting pretty nervous hearing the people panting, struggling to catch their breath, and making comments about how awful the hike back up was. I just tried to ignore it. Our kids did amazing. They hiked the whole thing on their own without complaint. We stopped one time for a short few minute break and that was it. They did amazing!

Next on the calendar was Jaces preschool circus. It was adorable. It was on a Friday morning and they did the cutest little circus performance where Jace got to dress up as a magician. Jace went to the most amazing preschool this year and we are so happy with all that he learned there and their focus on Christ. He learned a cute prayer to show his gratitude for food and he learned scripture stories each week.

We found this class through the city that taught kids how to make a fairy garden. We signed Addi up for that and it was an amazing class. When I went to pick her up I was amazed at the fairy house she put together. She had so much fun there.

Next up was our yard sale. My friend Christina and I did a yard sell and since our daughters are BFFs we told them they could do a lemonade stand and bake sale. Emi and Addi spent the afternoon before the yard sale helping me bake treats and decorate their sign. The morning of the yard sale they helped get everything set-up and were open for business. They made a killing. We had so many friends stop by and support them. It was nice to see a lot of friends that stopped in to check out our treasures.

Grandpas funeral

Around the last week of March Grandpas health started declining pretty quickly. He passed away peacefully. It was absolutely awful to know that my grandpa was gone and that I'd no longer be able to see him or visit with him. He has been a huge comfort and a big supporter of me throughout my life. I was so happy for grandpa though. He has been so ready to go and to be with grandma. He wanted to be able to see and hear again and be freed from his aging body. I am truly grateful for the gospel because I know that I will see him again. I know that I will be with all of my family. I'm grateful for the legacy that my grandpa has left behind and for his examples of hard work, faith, and love. My grandpas greatest treasure in life was his family (and cars). His funeral was the Friday before Easter. I loved being able to reconnect with cousins I hadn't seen in years. Growing up in the Valley I was super close to the cousins my age and I miss seeing them. I wish we all lived closer.

February 2018- Birthday, Daddy daughter dance, and skating

February was such a busy but fun month for us. We celebrated Steve's 37th birthday. My friend made this amazing cookie monster cake. We surprised Steve with it and he loved it. Cookie monster is his favorite. Addi had her annual daddy daughter dance at school. I love that Steve and Addi were able to attend. I think it is so great that they can have that time together and for them to get dressed up and go enjoy a night of dancing and fun. Jace and I went a got some food and watched olympics. Valentines day was crazy but fun. I went to Jaces valentines day party at his preschool and it was so cute to be there. He was so excited to have me there and just wanted me to sit right by him and tried feeding me all of his food. He is so great like that. I hope my kids always want me around. Steve and I went on a date night to Salt Grass Steakhouse. We like to get away once in a while and enjoy a meal without kids. We also took Jace skating for his first time. Addi is pretty great on skates but Jace has some learning to do. Addi was really sweet and tried pushing him around. We are just trying to enjoy our time together.

Grandpa Snuffy's 98th birthday

Grandpa Snuffy turned the big 98 this year and I made certain that I would be able to attend his big birthday celebration. The last 3 years of living in Lubbock has been such a blessing because I have been able to go see my grandpa quite a bit. My kids have been able to spend time and interact with grandpa and they really feel like the know him. The kids will ask me about him and tell stories that they have heard him tell. I love it! I truly have the best grandpa in the world and I was so excited to head to the Valley to be with him! We were really blessed that day because grandpa was so happy and so energetic and really seemed to be with it. I had the most overwhelming feeling that this would be the last time I would see my grandpa alive and so I just tried to soak in every minute!

Our first stop was for my favorite meal, green chile burger! YUMM

A new year 2016

We got back to Lubbock in time to celebrate the new year. We had a fun evening with the kids complete with cotton candy Sprite drinks for the kids and delicious nachos and yummy treats. We had a small balloon drop and let the kids watch a Netflix countdown early and put them down. We were all so exhausted from our trip.

Our new year was busy. Braces for Addi and playing in all the snow that came while we were gone.

I just love being a mom to these sweet little kids. It was so nice to have Addi home. She is always wanting to be my big helper and she is amazing with Jace. She loves to help me buckle/unbuckle Jace in the care seat, she loves to help me cook and even will help me fold laundry when she sees me folding. She loves school and was super excited to get back to school.

Her teachers tell me that she loves homework and gets really sad when they don't have homework. She's so funny and just her own person. She does dance once a week and she loves, loves it. They had an amazing recital at the end of January. I loved watching how hard she's worked and how much she loves dancing.
