12-19-11: Holidays with a toddler

This Christmas Season has been amazing.
My little boy is SO EXCITED each and everyday.
He loves the lights.
He loves the decorations.
He loves the treats.
He loves the songs, he'll even sing along with the radio to Jingle Bells and Santa Claus is coming to town.
Each and every night he'll say, "Merry Christmas Mom".
My heart melts each time.

He wants a red bike from Santa.
A red bike
And a "seat" belt to hold his pants up.
He cracks me up!

We got 2-inches of snow last week.
Daddy had the day off.
Luke finally got to use his little shovel.
We made a snowman.
And named him Frosting.

I can see how magical Christmas is to little children.
Luke has totally changed my outlook on Christmas.
It's all about watching him glow.
His smile makes it all worth it.

Merry Christmas Lukey.
Mommy and Daddy sure love you!

PS. Luke gave us the greatest gift for Christmas.  HE IS 100% POTTY TRAINED!!!! Woohoo!!!

12-18-11: Haslam Christmas Party 2011

Today was the Haslam Family Christmas party.
This is family on Josh's side.
It's his Mom's family, and we don't know or see them much.
Maybe twice a year.
It was nice to see Grandpa Haslam tho.
He is getting frail and might not be with us much longer.
I snapped this photo of Stockton and Luke visiting him.
Luke is a pretty shy little boy.
I was really proud that he went up with Stocky to say hello.

I love how close Luke and Stockton are.  They are the best of buds. It's so nice to have great cousins!

12-17-11: A Christmas Concert

We were invited by our friends/extended family the Millers
to Wayne Millers Christmas Concert.
He volunteers in the Riverdale City band
and here they played at the Riverdale Senior Center.
Wayne plays the bassoon, and had a solo with "The Grinch"
It was very enjoyable. :)

Afterwards we hit the lights in downtown Ogden!
It was FREEZING cold.
But there was no snow, which made it nice.
We didn't have to worry about getting more cold and wet :)
Lukey had a little accident, being a little too excited.
He was running around one of the little buildings and tripped.
Landed on his face.
Nice goose bump.
He survived.
Poor Lukey :(

12-16-11: My Santa Baby

12-14-11: Rescue Guy

This is our rescue guy.
He gets the bad guys with his sword.
Then puts them in his bucket.
We have a lot of bad guys hanging out at our place.
He is constantly saving the day!

12-14-11: Baby Brudder

This is baby brudder.
Luke already loves him tons and tons.
He's excited to share his toys with him.
And help Mommy and such.
He talks about him all the time.

The bishop from the 5th ward said to Luke, "Wow you are getting so big"
and his response?
"I'm getting a baby brudder".

He thinks baby brudder is coming on Christmas.
Since everything else is.
Hahaha.
Cute boy.

He talks about him all the time.
I even let him feel him kick.
Of course he hasn't really felt him, because he won't stay still long enough.
Or maybe it's too soon.
Either way, he'll say, "Mom, he's wiggling!"

One morning when Luke woke up the first thing he said to me was,
"Is my baby brudder coming today?"

He is going to be the best big brother :)

12-09-11: Meeting Santa

Luke has been preparing for this day.
We practiced it many times.
What do you want for Christmas?
A red bike.
Simple enough.
One condition, he did not want to sit on his lap.
He wanted to stand next to him.

Well the day came.
And it was nearing his turn with the jolly old St. Nick.
He started to get scared.
And wanted to change his mind.

We had his little cousin Austin go first.
Austin smiled. He wasn't scared.
With this motivation, Luke agreed to do it.

The photos below will tell the rest of the story....

A smiling Austin getting a candy cane from Santa

At first he clung on tight to his Daddy.

But then he warmed up to Santa and actually told him what he wanted for Christmas!
I was so proud!!
Then Daddy misunderstood Luke and thought he wanted to sit on his lap.
I warned him he didn't want to.
And as you can see...it didn't go well.

The end.

12-11: Jingle Bells!

I don't know when Luke did this...but it was this month sometime.
Nevertheless, it is cute & adorable!
Enjoy!!

12-03-11: Gingerbread party

We got together with our friends the Wilhelsens for a little Christmas partying :)
We made soups (Kate's white chicken chili was amazing!!)
and we made Gingerbread houses.
Thanks guys for the great night!

December 2011: Our Christmas Tree

This is our Christmas Tree

And this is how Luke placed all the ball ornaments :)

11-26-11: Leaves

Papa came over with his 2 leaf blowers.
Plus our leaf blower.
There were THREE of us blowing all the leaves from our yard into one great big pile.

It took hours.

Luke hated the leaf blowers.
He was scared most of the time.
But when all was said and done, he couldn't wait to jump into the gigantic pile of leaves.

16ish bags later we had the leaves cleaned up.

I was the only one who managed to step into and sit in dog poop.

Gross.

4 garbage pickups later we got rid of those bags of leaves.
A few weeks later a massive (MASSIVE) wind storm hit Northern Utah.
Many had damage and destruction
We got more leaves.
