Britton's Baptism

Because July 1 was on a Sunday, Britton's stake baptism was on June 30, just one day after his birthday.  It was a very special day!  We were so grateful to have Grandpa Wood (thanks Mark!) and Grandma and Grandpa Hart there to be with us!

 Grandpa Wood gave Britton the David Winter Collection Benbow Farm that he has given to all of the boys.  It is a special place from his mission where many people were baptized by Wilford Woodruff. 

 Grandma and Grandpa Hart brought Britton his long-awaited baptism blanket.  He was so excited to get it and has slept with it every night since then.

 Scott had the special opportunity to baptize his fifth and last son.  Here they are in their whites.

It was a great night.  Grandpa Wood took us out to dinner afterwards and we loved spending the time with family.

Britton's 8th Birthday

Okay, so I am having big problems with posting photos from my phone onto this blog.  It is a pain to get these pictures to turn vertical on my computer, but I can do that.  But then, when I post to the blog, they turn sideways again.  If anyone knows how to fix this let me know. OK?

Anyway, that's why this first picture is sideways.  Friday, June 29, was Britton's 8th birthday.  Boston was out of town on his 50-miler hike, but the other boys were here.  We just made a big #8 for the cake. 

 Britton invited a few of his friends over - Kaden McKinlay, The McConkie twins, and Luke Nelson.  We took these boys, our own boys, and some cousins to Fiesta Fun for the party. 

Everyone had a great time!  These are some seriously nice young boys, so the bumper boat war was probably the most polite and kind one I've ever seen.  They were cracking us up!

 The bigger boys couldn't wait to race the go-carts.  Here is Brock coming around the corner,

Britton's birthday was a great excuse to go have a great time playing!

Camels at Tuacahn

When my sister, Melanie, and her family came to visit, we decided to go out to the Farmer's Market out at Tuacahn on  Saturday morning.  It was really fun (although a little hot!).  Tuacahn was giving rides on the camels that they are using in the musical "Aladdin". 

Brock and Hollie were brave and got on first.

Followed by Boston and Hannah.  Pretty funny stuff!

By the way, "Aladdin" was great, and so was "Hairspray".  I highly recommend a trip to St. George to see these shows if you haven't seen them!

Swimming Lessons

One of Scott's older sisters, Linda, still teaches private swim lessons up north, which have carried over since theWood family closed up Neptune Swim School.  She is so popular that  a woman who had moved to St. George asked he to come all the way down to teach lessons.

 We had fun together visiting with her and her kids, and were lucky enough to get some swimming lessons for three of the boys while she was here.

 She did a great job and we are so thankful for the great lessons.

Priest Trip

This year, Scott, along with our Young Men's President, took six of the priests from our ward on a trip up to raft the Snake River in Teton National Park.  They had a great time and made a few stops along the way.

 They visited the Provo Temple on the way up.

 They did a whole day trip, which consisted of calm water in the morning as you float past the Teton mountain range.  Then, after lunch, they changed into wet suits and did the rapids for the last half of the day.

 They all had so much fun.  But I don't know if anyone ever has as much fun as Scott!

Braden had a blast on the trip.  He hadn't been white-water rafting before.  Here is a picture of him swimming in the freezing lake.  He is never afraid of cold water and is always the first one to jump in!  Look at the view behind him, though.  Wow!  Thanks Scott for taking the boys on this great trip!

Grandpa's House

It is proving more and more difficult as the kids get older to find time to get away together.  But, there was a weekend where I could take four of the boys up north.  They had a great time (for 2 days) playing with cousins and enjoying the beautiful Northern Utah weather.  Grandpa Hart took the boys on a hike up beautiful Waterfall Canyon.  Here they are throwing rocks at the water tank on the hike, just like I used to.

 The boys got to spend a whole day playing with their cousins in Grandpa's back yard.  Which, of course, was the whole aim of the trip.  Here some of the kids are hiding in the same fort I used to play in, back behind the lilac bush.

Free Car Wash

This is the "after" picture of Braden's car.  If you could see the "before" picture, you would see that his car was filthy.  I told him he couldn't do anything until he washed his car.  It told him to hand wash it, go to the coin op car wash, go pay for a professional one...whatever.  He left and went down to the car wash by the grocery store. 

He came back much, much later, with a clean car.  He asked me how it looked and I said "great".  I asked him how much he paid for it and he said "nothing".  I asked him to explain and he said that he went to the gas station and used the window-washing squeegie to clean off of his whole car.  He sarted at the top and worked his way down.  Funny!  Well, Braden is nothing if not thrifty!
