The City of Phoenix has officially declared
October 10th "Tanner Shumway Day"! How cool is that? Tanner thinks it would be even cooler if they officially closed all the schools in celebration too. School or not, the big day starts with a ceremony that starts at
11:30 at Blue Heron Park and ends with a BBQ! Not too shabby!
As most of you know Tanner has been working, make that slaving, away at beautifying the city's park with landscaping. This was a colossal undertaking in every sense of the word! Tanner had to plan and direct just how to fund this gigantic project and then oversee an army of helpers prepare the site, put in the irrigation, plant hundreds of shrubs, and bark it all.
Here's some numbers for you:
- 0- years of experience in landscaping
- 12- number of sleepless nights
- 27- number of volunteers that helped
- 392-number of trees, plants, and shrubs planted
- 15,000- number of dollars he raised
The pinnacle of the entire project will be on
October 14th when Tanner is awarded his Eagle...at long last!
Congratulations Tanner! Here's some fun links to Tanner in the news...
