Favorites

I know most of my posts are about Eli, but that's because he is one of my favorite people.

Some of his favorites include eating applesauce and bananas, pushing boxes around the house, pulling all the tuperware out of the drawers, trying to sneak into the bathroom, climbing on things, and doing laundry.

And with Christmas just around the corner we decided to make our own ornaments for the tree. Yes, I felt like a little kid making them and yes, they might look like a little kid made them, but it was still fun.

These were super easy to make. 

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup salt

1/4 water

Mix it all together until it is soft and stretchy, make whatever prints or shapes you want, then bake in the oven at 200 degrees for about 3 hours.

9 Months and Other News

Well, Eli is 9 months old now ... crazy! He sure has grown up a lot these past couple of months. He loves eating finger foods and is learning how to use his new top teeth. Yep, he has 6 teeth now (2 on bottom and 4 on top). He also likes grinding them, which really grosses me and Shilo out. I think I forgot to mention that he is crawling and has been for the past 2 months. He also really enjoys pulling himself up and cruising along the furniture. Here is a video of his newest trick.

Before it got too cold outside and decided to snow we tried to spend some time outside enjoying the last bit of warmth.

At his 9 month checkup he weighed 17 lbs 8 oz and was 26 inches long. He loves to open and close the kitchen cupboards and recently found the pots and pans. He now uses them as teething toys.

And for his first Halloween he was Tigger. I think he was a little confused as to why he was wearing that silly costume. But he was so cute! We didn’t take him trick-or-treating, but we did go to our ward’s trunk-or-treat and got a little bit of candy for ourselves.

As for me I have been feeling crafty lately so this is what I have been up to.

Adventure is Out There!

Does anyone else love the movie UP? I do. And I think it would be so fun to live in that house. Lucky for us the real thing is in Herriman, UT. Now if only I had $400,00 so I could buy it. A while back during the Salt Lake parade of homes I heard that there was a house in Herriman, UT that was just like the house in “UP”. I kept telling Shilo how cool it would be to go see it. We never did make it during the parade of homes, but I did convince Shilo to go with me on one of his days off. I thought we would just drive by it and get a couple of pictures outside of it. But when we got there there was a sign in the front window that said ‘open’. So we went inside and the guy said we could look around and take as many pictures as we wanted. It was pretty cool.

It's been a while

A couple of weeks ago we went on our first family hike up the Rocky Mouth trail to this little waterfall. Eli loved it so much he didn't want to look at the camera!

Our next hike was on Labor Day. We went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Doughnut Falls. Georgie (Shilo’s sister) and Alan (Shilo’s old mission companion) came with us. I guess everyone else in Utah had the same idea, because there were so many people. But, we were the only ones smart enough to eat doughnuts at Doughnut Falls! Eli loved being outside and he especially liked trying to touch the water.

My parents and grandparents are here visiting this week. My grandparents got a time share in Ogden for a week and since it is only about an hour away from where we live (Midvale) we spent some time visiting them. We went on a hike with them too. Well, it was more like a nature walk. We also played some card and bored games, watched movies, and Shilo and I even played racquetball with my dad.

My parents and grandparents also came down to Midvale for an evening and we went to the Hale Center Theater and watched the play Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat. It was a great play! Shilo wasn’t able to go because he had work. I left Eli with Maureen Pinegar (a lady in our ward) while we went to the play. I was a little nervous because he still nurses pretty often, but I left some applesauce for him and he did great. She took him for a walk, he played with her dog, and he even took a nap.

That same night after the play one of my old roommates, Brittany Shore, from BYU-I stayed the night with us because she was catching a flight from the SLC airport the next day. It was so great to spend some time catching up with her. She is pregnant with her first baby and is due in February. We had a lot of fun remembering the fun times we had in college.

In other news, Eli is 7 months old and CRAWLING! He started crawling while I was on the phone with my sister. I was just telling her that he was getting to close to crawling but just goes backwards. As soon as I said that he started crawling forward towards the computer cord. It was so crazy. I kept moving the cord father away from him to see if he would keep crawling and he did. He started crawling right before my parents and grandparents came so that was really fun for them to see him learning how to crawl.

Time Flies

It's true. Eli is now 6 months old and still as cute as can be :-) He loves sleeping on his stomach. He rolls all over the place. He still wants to puts everything in his mouth. It is getting easier to make him laugh. We are working on getting him to sit up by himself, but mostly he just wants to stand (with help of course). He's really good at grabbing his pacifier and trying to take it out and put it back in his mouth, even though most the time he puts it in backwards. And he started eating rice cereal, Yum! We love you Eli.

Road Trip

Eli and I just got back from a 10 day vacation to Nauvoo, IL and Missouri with my mom, my oldest niece, my sister, her husband and their 6 kids. We saw lots of great shows about the Mormon pioneers and learned a lot about their history. Some of us even dressed up like them.

It was lots of fun and very HOT!  After Nauvoo we drove to Missouri to spend a couple of days at my sister's house. On our way out of town we stopped by Carthage jail and learned more about the prophet Joseph Smith.

 In Missouri we went swimming at the local pool and then went to Silver Dollar City in Branson and rode some awesome roller-coasters!

We got to meet sweet little Eleanor (my sister's youngest child who is one month younger than Eli). Everyone asked if they were twins. What do you think?

Four

Eli went to the doctor yesterday for his 4 month checkup. He weighs 13 lbs 12 oz (25th percentile) and is 23.25 inches long (3 percentile). So basically he is really little and short for his age! Poor guy, I thought he was supposed to inherit his mom's genes. Shilo always jokes that he married me so his kids would have a better chance at being tall :) But considering that he was only 5 lbs 15 oz and 17 inches when he was born, I think he's come a long way.

Updates

It's been one month since my last post and a lot has happened since then.

Shilo got a new job working for


We went to a Mariner's baseball game and we won!

We moved to Midvale, Utah and we get to look at these mountains every day

We ate at In-N-Out for the first time in a very long time. mmmhhhhhhhmmmm!

Eli is now 4 months old and weighs a little over 13lbs. I'm not sure how long he is because he hasn't had his 4 month check up yet. He did however have to visit the doctor for a red swollen eye that they said is probably pink eye. He wasn't very happy about it, but I loved that all he wanted to do was lay on me and snuggle all day. We got some eye drops and he is doing much better now. Here are some other updates:

2 years and 2 months

Yesterday was our 2 year wedding anniversary! Some of the highlights of this past year were Shilo starting his new job with Edward Jones, I finished my internship with the City of Moses Lake Parks and Recreation Department and officially graduated from school, and we welcomed baby Eli into our family. It was a great year and we are excited for our first year together as a family of three.

 

We also decided to get a new camera! We got a new camera because our old one didn’t take very good videos and we wanted to be able to take great videos of little Eli. We spent the day taking tons of pictures and remembering the highlights of the past year. We finished the day off with a dinner of lasagna, salad, and French bread. Shilo even got me flowers!

Eli had his 2 month check up today and he is doing great. He weighed in at 11 lbs 2 oz and measured 21.25 inches. He also had to get his first set of shots, but he handled it like a champ and only cried a little bit.

2 Weeks

Last week at Eli's two week check up he weighed 6lbs 4oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. He finally outgrew his preemie outfits and diapers and is now in the newborn stuff. He still eats about every two hours, day and night, but he is becoming more alert during the day. It's amazing how much he has already changed. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure ...

Baby Eli was born February 8, 2011 - 5lbs 15oz - 17 in
He was born 3 1/2 weeks early and is doing great.
I had to have a c-section because he was breech. They were going to try turning him, but since my water broke there wasn't enough fluid to even try. Luckily there weren't any complications and we are both doing well. We are so glad to have him here and we love him so much.

Turn baby, turn

At my doctor appointment last week the doctor was pretty sure that baby boy is still in the breech position, so she did a quick ultrasound just to make sure. And sure enough, that hard lump I keep feeling under my rib cage is his head. So if he doesn't turn around by my next appointment in a week and a half then the doctor might have to try turning him using External Version. And if that doesn't work then we might have to do a c-section, which I really don't want. So please, oh please, oh PLEASE turn around baby. I'm 35 weeks now and I only have 5 more to go ... CRAZY!

Only 6 1/2 more weeks left until my due date! Almost everyone says that I look way too small to be 7 1/2 months pregnant, and I probably do ... and I guess I should be grateful that people aren't telling me that I look like I'm ready to pop any day now.
