Headline News!!!

Every month the swim team sends out a newsletter and this month Thomas was the lead article. I know I brag about him all the time so here is proof that he is really awesome and even his coach thinks so!
I scanned in the article but it still is pretty small so here is what it said................

Sheridan sets Tsunami Records @ Kearns

From a little boy to one of the top all around Freshmen in the State is Thomas Sheridan.
Thomas swims for Woods Cross High School and trains on the National Team. During his 13-14 year old tenure Thomas has set 10 Tsunami team records.
Recently over the Christmas break Thomas broke 4 Tsunami team records. ( By the way we are looking for someone to build us a giant record board on the south wall of the pool).
Thomas has been dedicating himself day in and day out, or should I say morning in and morning out. The hard work is starting to pay off. Times like 2:10.5 in the 200 IM, 1:00.01 in the 100 fly, 4:44.56 in the 400 IM, and 53 in the 100 free.
Thomas has many talents besides swimming as he plays the tuba at school, he is very comical, and he is designated as the late night movie selector for the Senior and National teams.
Thomas attributes his success to his parents support, his team mates and "Fantastic Mr. Fox"

Pretty cool Huh!!! Also Thomas was fast to point out that his coach got his 100 fly time wrong. It is actually a 59.8 not 1:00.01, he gets mad if he doesn't swim it in under a minute.
He is getting ready for the State High School Championships on Friday. Right now he is in the top 8 in the 200 IM going in to Friday. The ONLY Freshman in the top 10!!!!!!!!!!

Spelling Bee

Mr. Smarty Pants Jacob won his class Spelling Bee and then went on to the school's Spelling Bee. he really is a fantastic speller! He is in the top spelling group in his class and while most of the other kids are spelling easy words his spelling list includes words like....hypotension,voracious and biosphere. So anyway he participated in the school's Spelling Bee on Friday and it was the first time that they have had 3rd graders participate. Well he and his buddy from his class outlasted eve some 6th graders! He did really well and lasted 4 rounds and then got the word UNFURL. This word wasn't even on his study sheet so he hadn't practiced it at all. Also the Principal was saying the words and she has a southern drawl or something because when she said the word it sounded like she said UNFERRELL. So he spelled it like she said it and got it wrong. He was pretty sad but we told him it was pretty cool that a third grader even got to be in the Spelling Bee! Just wait until next year!!!

Space Derby

This year instead of doing the Pinewood Derby , Jacob's scout troop did a Space Derby with Rockets. Jacob and Kevin had a lot of fun building his rocket that he painted like a school bus. His rocket killed everyone in his first race but didn't do so well the rest of the time. We didn't know that some people were changing the rubber bands after every race, not sure that is fair but oh well it was fun any way. At least his rocket went forward. When Thomas had the Space Derby his rocket flew backwards, so we have come a long way baby!

Junior Prom

Maddi was off to Jr. Prom tonight. She took my camera but I downloaded these pix before she left. I will post the pix with the boy tomorrow after she gets home, they were pretty funny! Let's just say that she is a very sweet girl for saying yes! And even though I protested, she wore her cowboy boots with the dress! It was a fun afternoon getting her ready, It takes a LONG time to do all that hair!! But it was worth it, she looked beautiful. Thomas had a few swimming buds over and the girls told her she looked like a princess!

5th place in the 100Fly. just look how big the other boys are! If Thomas can keep up with them as a Freshman, just think what he will be like as a Senior!!!

Go Woods Cross!!!!!!!

The Region swim meet for high school was today and Thomas did awesome! He swam the 500 Free and came in 4th and he swam the 100 Fly and came in 5th. When he swims in his regular swim meets he is competing against kids his own age. With high school swimming he is swimming against everyone up to the age of 18 and some of these kids are pretty big. The top 6 in every event medal and he medaled twice today. For a Freshman to make it to the podium is pretty awesome! Now he moves on to the 4A State High School Championships at BYU in a few weeks! He will be swimming the 200 IM and 100 Fly at State, I think. So it should be pretty exciting! Wy to go Thomas!!!

TUS BESOS - How cool is this!!!!

We found the Peruvian brothers that Elder Sheridan and Elder Huanca baptised on Christmas. Awesome!!!! Their band is called Duo Mantaro!!
