On the 10th of March, Talen had his second seizure. It was so weird. I'm not even sure what brought it on or why he had it. I had been sitting next to him to try to calm him because he was a little tense. Then all the sudden, he just changed somehow. I hadn't been home to witness the first time he had a seizure, but the second it started I knew what it was. I yelled for Jay to come in the room and of course, the kids followed. We had them leave the room while Jay and I tried just held Talen and tried to talk him through it. It probably only lasted 30 seconds, but it seemed like forever! Afterwards, he was completely wiped out. Other than being sent out of our room, the boys barely even noticed that something had happened. Kennedy, on the other hand, was having a hard time with it. I don't know if it was because it reminded her of how scary the first one was (because she was the one here helping Jay and she had to call 911) or just because she knows that the more that Talen does things like this, the more his health declines. Either way, after a good little talk, Kennedy was much better. It is sweet and heart wrenching to see how much love she has for her brother, especially when he is struggling. Man, I sure love these kids of mine - and I really love how much they love each other.
The weekend of the 22nd - 23rd was a big one for us. Kennedy had a volleyball tournament up north and the boys had a state BMX race in Salina. So, Cathy happily agreed to watch Talen for us so I could be with Kennedy and Jay could be with the boys. I don't recall exactly what place Daxton took, but he didn't get a trophy, so it was 4th or less. Carter managed to get 3rd and he took home a trophy. The best part of their little adventure was the hotel that I booked for them. I was just going off of the reviews that they had online. Well, the website said that they had a pool. But, when they got there, the pool was very different than what they expected. It had been filled in with dirt and was growing grass!! (bad advertising, very misleading, hehehe) Between their races, they did a little exploring and managed to find some silos that had been turned into huge soda cans. The boys thought that was pretty neat. All in all, it was a very adventurous weekend for the boys!
The only other thing that happened in March was the letter in the mail telling us that Kennedy had been accepted into the Success program. This is a program put on by the college/high school that will allow Kennedy to graduate with both her High School diploma and her Associates Degree. You could say that we were all really happy that she got in!! (It was a lottery draw, so we were thrilled when we got the news!) I am so glad that Kennedy is so aware of her future and doing everything now to try to set herself up for success. Love our KiKi!!
